Dear Mets, dear Braves,
Fuck you.

Signed basso.

Man what a superb HRD and ASG! So much fun. Big Papi asking to play cracked me up what a good dude.

The new members of Hall of Fame great pick and good to see the negro league nods also.

Been very happy with Phils but we're in a strong division. Over all I'm just really enjoying the season.

Kevin Kiermaier and Mike Zunnino done for the rest of the season. Rumors are Kevin Kiermaier might be done with baseball entirely.

I'm watching the Rays blow a game to the Orioles. I'm thinking this team is just too injured and too offensively inept to make a serious push.

May Ji Man Choi forgive my soul but I think it's time for the Rays to shut it down.

So where do you think Soto lands?
I don't think that he goes before this deadline. If I had to make a guess I'd say either St. Louis or Houston. The Cardinals seem to kind of be who a lot of people are talking about as a frontrunner.

One notable outfielder can be taken off of the trade deadline board as Andrew Benintendi is heading to the Yankees (edit: didn't even see Preferred Penne mention it until now.) Going back to the Royals are a trio of young pitching prospects who oddly enough are being traded all around the time of their birthdays.

  • T.J. Sikkema (drafted 38th overall in 2019, just turned 24 on Monday)
  • Chandler Chamberlain (9th round pick last summer, just turned 23 on Saturday)
  • Beck Way (4th round pick in 2020, turns 23 next Saturday)
Chamberlain has spent all year in A-ball, the other two have spent all year in high-A. Based on Sikkema's numbers the only thing that stopped him from being in AA already is a lot of depth for the Yankees and no need to rush him.

Looks like the Yankees are about to acquire Andrew Benintendi from the Royals. There were previously reports the Yankees wouldn't get him because he's unvaccinated, but he has since told he people he will now get the vaccination.

I won't be surprised if he'll get a fake vaccine certificate or get a saline solution. Doubtful then the Yankees will do some concession about that detail.

With out sperging about the politics of it, yeah they will help him get a fake one. If lay people can get em with ease, the money and drive a sports ball player has, even less problem.

Unless he chooses to sperg and say no to fight the ideals, they for sure will hook him up with a fake paper.

Seattle made a big trade last night ahead of the upcoming deadline. They've acquired starting pitcher Luis Castillo from the Reds for a quartet of prospects (two infielders, a starting pitcher, and a reliever.) As ranked by MLB.com three of the four prospects were in the top 5 in Seattle's system. They are:

  • Noelvi Marte, shortstop (#1 prospect for Seattle, #18 in MLB, won't turn 21 until October)
  • Edwin Arroyo, shortstop (#3 prospect for Seattle, #93 in MLB, 2nd round pick in 2021, turns 19 in late August)
  • Levi Stroudt, reliever (#5 prospect for Seattle, 3rd round pick in 2019)
  • Andrew Moore, starter (14th round pick last season)
Castillo, who has one more trip through arbitration this winter (which Seattle will obviously take him up on and will likely try to extend him,) is probably the best starter who was brought up a lot as a deadline candidate to be moved. An All-Star for the second time in his career, he's been right back to top of the rotation form after a down year (by his standards) in 2021.

Meanwhile I think the Reds did really well getting the two infield prospects. Marte has done very well in High-A so far this year (34 extra base hits in 84 games, a dozen steals and a .360 on base percentage.) Arroyo has been even more impressive in A-ball (39 extra base hits in 89 games, 21 steals, and a .385 on base percentage) in just his first full pro season.

I can't really blame the Mariners for making a splashy trade like that. They desperately need a playoff appearance and hopefully not at the mercy of a play-in game.

The name change requested by these fucked SJWs didn't helped Cleveland. Worse, the Guardians have trouble to attract fans.

As a result of years of pressure from activist groups, several years ago, the Cleveland baseball franchise announced they would soon be changing the team’s name.

Naturally, the team prominently declared its commitment to the correct motivations, suggesting that unity and “community” explained their decision:

“We believe our organization is at its best when we can unify our community and bring people together – and we believe a new name will allow us to do this more fully.”

So after over 100 years as the Cleveland Indians, the team started play in 2022 as the Cleveland Guardians.

Well, if the numbers are to be believed, it’s possible that fans might not have taken kindly to the rebranding efforts.

Local TV ratings for the newly christened Guardians have dropped dramatically, with one report placing the number at -30%.

That’s the third biggest decline of any team in the league, with only the moribund Oakland Athletics and rapidly fading San Francisco Giants reporting worse numbers.

MLB ratings overall have been generally flat, with even the Baltimore Orioles seeing a slight increase to this point in the season.

The Guardians however, have seen their numbers fall precipitously.

The old "Get woke go broke" strikes again! :story:

TBH for all the name changes I think it's cool they picked something that has a tie to the city and if I wasn't so fucking busy I'd be there for a weekend and a game.

Side note I've really wanted to visit cleveland for a while and part of it is to see the Indian/Guardians. I got over the salt of the name change and think they did a pretty good job of it, unlike a NFL team that couldn't even get a fucking name then ends up with some throw away name. Also I'd say Indians is probably less offensive than Redskins but I digress.

They're named after some statues on a bridge that maybe 5% of the population knew or cared about before the name change..

I was at both Friday and Saturdays game for Cleveland @ Rays, and I'd say the fans are 95% still wearing Indians gear. Very few people in Guardians merch. Saw a dude in a full Indian head dress.

I do wonder how that works with team gear. Is there a secondary black market for Indians merch? You know they didn't sell out all the remaining inventory before the change. If I was an Indians fan I'd be stockpiling gear because once it's out it's gone forever.

Also welcome to Tampa Bay, David Peralta!

I won't be surprised if some folks in the black market see an untapped potential to sale fake Indians merch.
