Probably not going, but I have been to Florida for spring training and I enjoyed the games. Notably I saw some of those Braves superstars before their first major league games: Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuña Jr.
yup, it's a great way to see the youngsters before they are stars. The players are so relaxed compared to the regular season you get much more fan interaction. We used to go to to florida for spring training when I played college baseball (D3 so low level) and I always hated how muggy it was. Arizona is a better spot imo. The parks are also much closer together in AZ.

Saw a video of Edwin Diaz throwing yesterday and I'm ready for baseball. As a Mets fan I'm pissed sherzer was able to jump out of a boat he was actively sinking and got a ring. It also bummed me out DeGrom got his 1st championship without throwing a single pitch.

The next City Connect jerseys have been announced today. The Guardians, Tigers, Dodgers, Twins, Mets, Phillies, Cardinals, Rays, and Blue Jays will all get the new uniforms. I'm hopeful for my Guards to get a good uniform. The City Connect jerseys have been hit or miss for me, but I do enjoy seeing some different uniforms that aren't throwbacks.

Probably something with guitars on it. Or maybe the Metroparks.

God I hope not guitars. That is such a low hanging fruit for the city. Having a uniform that centers around the Guardians of Traffic on the Hope Memorial Bridge with "The Land" across the chest would be kino. Maybe have some pierogis on the shoulders.

I hope the Mets' new uniforms contain the slogan, "we still kinda suck"

2022 Offseason Champions would be more apt.

Bo Bichette's hitting profile is more like Vladdy Sr's than Vladdy Jr's.

He's a free swinging, bad ball hitter with excellent bat-to-ball skills.

Everyone was shitting on Vlad last year for having such a down year, but the same goldfish-memory fans forget that they were ready to run Bichette out of town with his terrible first half in '22.

Bichette's value is mostly tied up in his balls in play, because he's allergic to walks and his defense has always been suspect.

You hear a lot less about his below-average defense at SS when he's hitting well. Hard to tell if it's just a halo effect or he's improved enough to not be MLB-embarassing.

Teoscar Hernandez went through a similar thing pre-COVID where his glove was considered unplayable in the OF and people considered him a DH.

Then he started hitting 30 bombs a year in his late 20s and no one called him a butcher anymore.
I think it's endearing that Bo Bichette's defense is bad, just like Dad's. Granted, I'm not a Blue Jays fan.

Eric Hosmer retired today.

His 8 year, 144 million contract he signed in 2018 with the Padres was essentially the worst contract in baseball the day it was signed. He's still owed 26 million combined over the next two seasons.

Supposedly Hosmer was also an asshole IRL.

There was an old Fangraphs article by Eno Sarris from back when Hosmer was in KC. The sabermetrics guy was trying to interview Billy Butler about hitting and Hosmer kept heckling something along the lines of "This nerd is the worst!".

Although Fangraphs ended up becoming insufferably woke, so maybe Hosmer was the Chad in the end after all.

Bobby Bonilla laughs at your post.

Meanwhile, Jerry Reinsdorf is trying to extort $1 billion in public funding to build a new stadium for the Chicago White Sox they don't need so they won't leave for Nashville.

I can believe he's an asshole. 1Bs typically have an unwarranted sense of self importance. Pretty based that he heckled the fuckin metric nerd.

Looks like the players are having a shitfit over the new uniforms

Can't say I blame them. Fanatics is a shitty company that runs a sports apparel monopoly. My Majestic branded Francisco Lindor Indians jersey is still holding up well 6 years later and I paid less than what Fanatics wants.
I have no idea how Fanatics just popped up in the last 5 years and ended up securing exclusive licensing rights to basically everything. Now there's no choice other than to buy their built-to-fail merchandise or buy knockoffs. They're the EA sports of clothes. I got a Rangers shirt from them as a gift and the logo cracked after one (count it, one) wash. They're an awful company and a shining example of how everything nowadays is deliberately made to be cheap garbage so people will consoom more. Fuck Fanatics.

Also fuck the Astros. They and their fans are assholes who think that a single decade of being good and a couple rings earned by beating on trash cans makes them the 50s Yankees. The only things Houston has going for it are traffic, noxious refinery fumes, and swamp ass.

Tough call just due to him having what is perceived as a shit attitude in general.
