Does Trevor Bauer have any shot to land on a roster ? I know that it's current year and teams are being sensitive faggots about giving him a contract, but there seem to be a ton of teams who could use him.

He was a great up-and-coming pitcher before the lawsuits. I think being out of the league for so long has done significant damage to his value and, ultimately, his abilities as a player. It's a shame really, because I thought Bauer had the potential to be a multi-time Cy Young winner and perennial candidate. But he's got a shitty on-field attitude when things don't go his way. I remember when he was an Indian when I saw him pitch in Kansas City. He was having a terrible 5th inning, just couldn't get shit under control. Eventually he gave up 4 runs. After the 4th run, Trev thundercunts the ball OVER the center field wall from the mound and Francona comes out to tell him to sit the fuck down. Any pitcher is gonna have bad innings and bad games in general. But you gotta keep your cool in those moments. The Royals were absolute dog shit that year too, considering they lost 100 games and were able to get some good hits on relatively decent throws. It's like any other professional sport: you gotta keep your cool or you'll end up making a complete ass out of yourself.

Here's a quick rundown from Jomboy:

I understand and it’s not the best from an optics perspective.

Having said that, I understand that there are human shitstains who are playing in the league who have worse rap sheets and/or worse behavior (or so I’ve been told). Happy to hear the opinions of Kiwis who know more about Baseball than I do.

I just wonder about the fact that he’s White and obviously has the “wrong” opinions on many topics is impacting his situation.

Yeah, that might be a factor impacting his situation, but I don't think that is entirely the case. We're both smart enough to know that in today's culture, an accusation is on the same level as a conviction in court. It doesn't matter if the case was settled and agreements signed because Trevor Bauer is always going to have the branding of an abuser. Unfortunately, with his actions in the past, I can't help but think that is an accurate description of Bauer as a person. And that is a real shame, because he has the talent and God given gift of athleticism, but he doesn't have the ability to shut the fuck up and just play ball.

Eric Hosmer retired today.

His 8 year, 144 million contract he signed in 2018 with the Padres was essentially the worst contract in baseball the day it was signed. He's still owed 26 million combined over the next two seasons.

Supposedly Hosmer was also an asshole IRL.

There was an old Fangraphs article by Eno Sarris from back when Hosmer was in KC. The sabermetrics guy was trying to interview Billy Butler about hitting and Hosmer kept heckling something along the lines of "This nerd is the worst!".

Although Fangraphs ended up becoming insufferably woke, so maybe Hosmer was the Chad in the end after all.
Sports journalism has been pure AIDS for a while now, so it brings a smile to my face when I hear a story of one of these losers getting shitted on.

Shohei Ohtani in his very first Spring Training game with the Dodgers yesterday, hit a 2 run homer to the opposite field.

Today, he announces on Instagram that he's gotten married.

Pretty impressive as to how absolutely nothing was leaked to anyone outside of his inner circle.

What a guy.

Shohei is gonna be scary this year. I mean, he was scary last year because he was a two-way player that dominated on and off the mound, but this year is gonna be next level for him. Now that he's going to be 100% focused on being a hitter, I would be looking at any projected stats and bet the over on him.

Meanwhile, Jerry Reinsdorf is trying to extort $1 billion in public funding to build a new stadium for the Chicago White Sox they don't need so they won't leave for Nashville.
Even JB told him to fuck off with that. That proposal was insane. 5 million visitors a year to a renovated Bridgeport to watch the Sox? Madness.

According to the papers the new pitch is trying to package the new park with keeping the Bears in the city with their own new stadium. This is real estate not football, so the Bears aren't dumb enough to sign on. This plan is deader than hell.

It's strange seeing TheScore.com in 2024.

It started as a Canadian cable TV text-only sports ticker in the 90s.

Then in the aughts, it became a plucky 3rd-place live sports network showing Canadian varsity football, WWE wrestling, out-of-market major league sports games and zany commentary shows. Sid Sexeiro, who currently does Breakfast Television for Toronto moms, was on the network for years with his terrible takes. Adnan Virk, who I believe left for ESPN or possibly the MLB network, was also a host.

Then in the early 2010s, they went heavy with their online presence, hiring edgy bloggers. They hired the amateurs from the Drunk Jays Fans blogspot and Drew Fairservice of Ghostrunner on First.

Andrew Stoeten and Dustin Parkes of the DJF were edgybois in the aughts who wrote classics before being hired such as "DJF Guide to Punching Kitty at the Ballpark" and the lore of the Wade Boggs head where he drank 70 beers on a cross-country charter flight.

The boys unfortunately went corporate when they got hired by The Score, memoryholing their back catalogue.
They'd write daily baseball content for a few years for The Score, mostly about the Jays, the Giants and the Dutch soccer team.

One day a few years later, The Score pulled the plug on their whole online division overnight. They sold their 3rd-position sports cable station to Rogers, the Jays owner, who folded it into their interchangeable stations, rebranding it as Sportsnet 360, a dumping ground for second-rate live games and radio simulcasts.

Stoeten continued covering the Jaya jumping from independent platform to platform. He eventually got hired as The Athletic's Jays beat reporter for a few years until getting fired for interviewing ?Stephen Brunt drunk on the brand's podcast. He also unfortunately developed TDS.

The Drunk Jays Fans community was eventually reborn without Stoeten himself. A new Blogspot message board called Jays In the House was established by an artsy woman from Toronto. The community unfortunately also succumbed to TDS.

Dustin Parkes would get a job running the Arts section of the National Post.

Drew Fairservice returned to his day job, later co-host The Athletic's Jays podcast with Stoeten then took it over after his dismissal.

The Score brand itself seems to live on a decade later as a gambling-based sports app accompaniment.

Was this ever mentioned in this thread? Didn't find anything searching Oakland Ballers.

They posted another video whining about not being permitted to play in the Coliseum.

Most recently they announced that they will be playing at some shitty park in the ghetto (oakland) that they gon revitalize.

Gerrit Cole to miss at least 1-2 months due to an elbow injury

Hell must have frozen over because I am actually starting to feel bad for the Yankees.

Kind of expected it. His one outing this spring wasn't great and he did look like he was in some sort of discomfort. I suspect the injury is probably just a really deep bruise, but 1-2 months is a long time for an ace like him.

After last year especially. They were one step away from calling up bat boys.

Phillies looking really strong but again it's early and spring training doesn't often mean squat come real season. I fear braves are going to be really good.

Probably the least excited I've ever been for the start of a baseball season.

The Jays decided to stand pat this offseason after showing for the last 4 years or so that they are good but not good enough.

But I think my disillusion is more than that.

MLB seems more fake & gay than ever. I just can't unsee it all now.

I did catch a 30-min replay of a ST game late night last week because nothing else was on. I got annoyed because it seemed like there was a new nepo baby PbP voice where Toronto fired their existing guy to plug in Dan Shulman's kid.

I still check in on Jays' news every few days, but all the communities seem so pozzed now that I don't post and can barely tolerate a few minutes.
