In MLB, there will never be a salary cap without a salary floor. Simple as that. The spending owners don't want to be held back and the cheap owners don't want to be forced to spend.

3 HOME RUNS FOR OHTANI! He's going to win NLCS MVP.

does that add more fuel to the demands of a MLB Salary Cap? Especially with a lockout seeming more and likely in the near future?

And from listening to guys like Trevor May who would probably be more in tune with the thoughts of what the MLBPA are thinking, the players would never agree to this because every major sports league is just a bunch of team owners who hired a commissioner to help increase their profit margins and make tough decisions.

None of the major American sports leagues which use a salary cap ever clearly define what counts as 'sports-related income' so they can exclude some big portions as not directly related to the sports or do some Hollywood-tier accounting like 'selling/renting out' equipment they already own through shell companies to the team so they can reduce the amount of net revenue on paper. These grubby motherfuckers cry poor after a minor dip in revenue when even if they lose a couple million dollars for years, they will still make a huge profit if they sell the team since every single Big 4 sports team's price just grows in value every year (unless you're that dumbfuck GM for the Dallas Mavericks but that's another sport and another story). If there were more 'honorable' businessmen buying up teams instead of equity trusts and Monforts, maybe a salary cap wouldn't even be a debate but we don't live in that reality.

BossManJack will purchase a Honda Civic before Christian Yelich gets another postseason RBI. Unbelievable.

This is the Baseball thread, this is my safe space from being reminded about that shit, please respect it and stop with the Micro Aggressions.

Dodgers sweep. Brewers offense couldn't do jack shit on the few chances they had, scoring only 1 run in each of the four games.
Ohtani NLCS MVP. Definitely earned it by having one of the best games ever.

Some of you may dislike kahntent but I'd like to introduce this guy:
He's a sports YouTuber which talks to a lot of the industry experts behind the scenes and delves into the science of everything while not going full numbers-tard. Unlike your average soyman like Foolish Baseball, he played D2 basketball in college so he's not that brainrotted nor is he as physically weak as Zohran Mamdani. He did try to get a lot of gains so he could 'peak athletically' by asking ChatGPT for a workout routine which you can already guess how that turned out:
The plus side is this did lead to him continuing this by actually asking industry experts and delving deep into each aspect he tried to get better at:
(He was mogged both times by his older brother)

It really shouldn't look at the lolmets and Jankees first and third respectively they either collapsed hilariously or got bounced in humilating fashion I could see the mlb changing how they calculate deferred contracts for luxury tax purposes though.

They better do something about that deferring shit. My Braves can't even sign fucking players like these teams do because they're owned by a bank. The league limits how much money they're allowed to spend based off team revenue.. why the fuck isn't every team like this? Better yet, why is the billionaires allowed to piss other people's money away but the bank can't?

In the NBA everyone just winds up on the Lakers or Clippers anyway. Salary cap or not we are here for Los Angeles and sometimes New York. They need opponents, after all.

Signed,

Former Mavs Fan

Maybe the 5Head play is for the Mariners to throw Game 6 so whoever advances ices out the Dodgers' momentum (copium)

Former Yankees and Mariners catcher Jesus Montero passed away today after having been in a motorcycle accident on October 4th. He played in the Majors between 2011 and 2015 and at one point was a top 10 prospect in the sport. He would have turned 36 in late November.

I might feel a little guilty if we beat the Mariners this series. Probably not though

you could not pay me enough to drive on any of the roads in South/Latin America.

Every year, I’m surprised Schneider manages to keep his job. At least once a series, he makes a baffling call that winds up fucking us. Especially whenever he desides he’s putting in that terrorist we call a closer (Hoffman).

Also, saw this one, want to hear opinions - if the Dodgers win the World Series this year, especially with the sheer amount they’ve spent on roster construction, does that add more fuel to the demands of a MLB Salary Cap? Especially with a lockout seeming more and likely in the near future?

Once the CBA is up, MLB is locking out for at least a season. They're going to want either a cap or a floor and will never be able to agree on what to do. But something is broken when the Dodgers are spending more on the roster than the total revenue of a large chunk of teams. The way international players are acquired is also going to be fought over.
