$ (BAT) Basic Attention Token

While I don't have much hope for the long-term viability of BAT, it sure is cool getting paid to do what I was already going to do for free.

Edit: I just thought of something and I'm wondering if anyone has tried it. I have brave on my home and work computers. I assume that when I go to work or go home, the computer I'm leaving goes to sleep and Brave stops showing ads. Could I set up an auto clicker to make brave think I'm actively browsing while I'm away from my computer, giving me ad money basically 24/7 on two computers? Maybe set up the auto clicker to click the random article button on wikipedia every 30 seconds or something.

I'd be interested to see if this would work. I've browsed their help forums a bit because Brave has stopped showing me ads for no apparent reason, and they are very, very cagey about the rules they use to make the whole thing work. There are caveats that Brave might stop showing you ads if you've seen everything that is 'relevant', if you use a VPN, if you're the wrong country or demographic, if you've maxxed out their advertisers, and that the max you set for no of ads is a maximum and not a guarantee. In other words, I suspect there may well be a restriction in there that is designed to avoid just the scenario you've described, that is not explicitly stated but covered in their multitude of weasel statements.

What about earning BAT from the news section? Can you still grind them out there?

My situation is reversed. I still get loads of ads per week, but I haven't noticed any BAT rewards in the news section for at least a week.

I don't know. I've had Brave for a couple years and used to get like 10 bucks a month in the early days but the payout started to get measly so I just stopped cashing out at all. Decided to check my balance yesterday after like a year of not looking at it and that's what I had.

Now that you mention it I do remember hearing something about a daily max number of ads you can be shown in a day.

Nope. The whole system has just stopped for me. This does happen sometimes. Some months it works, some it doesn't at all. I'm too apathetic to do much more than try the first couple solutions I can find in a search so I have not identified the problem, let alone fixed it.
I get ads on Brave but I haven't gotten rewards in months, even after after switching the wallet to Gemini from Uphold. What gives?
See above. I find the whole rewards system unreliable and frankly, shitty. For a long time I couldn't get rewards because I could not get the verification system to work (you know, the 'move this shape into the right hole' thing). After much digging I found someone on reddit who had solved the problem- a particular screen resolution was the only one that would make it work.

That really made me think the whole thing was jerry-rigged with string and electrical tape.

I got pretty tired of trying to get Brave Rewards to keep working properly and simply got tired of seeing ads, so I just turned the thing off. I haven't used it in months so I'm not sure just how much more of a pain it is to get working since then, but when I did try fixing it, the biggest problem for me ended up being from using a VPN.

The fix was to disconnect from and close the VPN, close the Brave browser, reopen the Brave browser, then reopen and reconnect to the VPN, all in that specific order. Supposedly it's because Brave gets your location for the ads on startup, and if you're using a proxy it may not fetch the "relevant ads" that they've decided to do for Brave Rewards. From there, going into the Rewards settings and changing the ads location from auto to somewhere big, maybe somewhere like California/Texas if you're in the US, for example, and setting the ads per hour to the max. Maybe this'll be helpful for someone.

Even though I don't bother with Brave Rewards anymore, I'm still pretty interested in BAT and what they're doing planning to do with it. Very glad you can finally link the payout directly into Gemini, anything that isn't fucking Uphold, and very interested in their plan to allow people to easily checkout and pay for stuff online using BAT.

Can't abort the based shill-Lion.

Other than an altcoin rally, the ads on Brave are getting a bit more diverse (from standard Crypto sites) and I've noticed a lot more larger websites become verified for the batbux -- wouldn't surprise me to see it keep steadily growing, though at a slower pace.

Speaking of which, sent another ~40 Lionbux your way. How do Brave do the BAT payouts btw, aren't they getting cucked by retarded ERC20 transfer fees on Eth atm?

I'm happy for BAT still, but I'm getting really fucked off having to wait for them to fix their wallet transfer functionality and get rid of the gimpy 4-device Uphold restriction. I've had to rely entirely on my mobile for ad payments purely because of that shit.
