$ (BAT) Basic Attention Token

Yes. Each month Brave uses a fixed percent of their ad revenue to purchase BAT at the going market rate. Then they distribute that pie based on which ads each user has seen.
There is a system for advertisers to purchase with BAT, that would effect the value of the payout when there's large fluctuations between the start of their ad campaign and payout day.

But yeah in general they pay in cash, that cash is divided between users and they receive an amount of BAT equal to that cash.

I sold half of my BAT for FTM. That's what I deserve for buying a tranny coin :(
I was thinking about buying LUNA but thank god I didn't, lol. Poor LUNA bros.

Thank you! Every time I see that stuff I read it in my head as "female to male". The crossover between r/phallo and cryptocurrency must be about zero, so that leaves Kiwi fans of the GRS thread imagining floppy baloney sausages hanging from mangled women every time we see the ticker.

Would now be a good time to by BAT for cheap or should I wait to see if it drops lower?

This is probably a bad call but I might say wait.
I'm probably full of shit but from what I can gather the current crypto crash is mostly because of luna/terra so BAT along with everything else might start climbing again when it starts to recover, or more likely is booted off most exchanges.

Then again its next to impossible to predict things with crypto, I'm probably just gonna go with dollar-cost averaging for now and only save up a small surplus in case things hit rock bottom.

So I finally installed Brave a while ago and have 10 damn ads per hour set and barely make a BAT a month, maybe two. I have regional ad relevance set to auto detect, would it be best to just disable it? Also do you hoard the BAT until you have a certain amount and then donate, send whatever you have once a month, what's best? I haven't done a donation yet and have 5.2, I'm assuming I just hit the send tip option.

I feel like a fucking boomer.

I'm in an Eastern Euro shithole and I got exactly 3 BAT last month, for this month I have 2.5 for now. How much do Amerilards usually get?

Historically, it has. When BAT was worth much less payouts were much higher in BAT.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this sounds like a recipe for a downwards spiral in the price of BAT at some point. If they increase the supply more as the price decreases wouldn't that just drive the price lower or vice versa when the price goes up? Its the opposite of stability. Does Brave have a policy on how they determine the size of payouts based on price? Is it manual, automatic? Just curious if anyone knows.

The supply of BAT is fixed and no more can be made. Low price per BAT = higher amount of BAT received per ad from the browser.

There is a better more detailed explanation on braves website.

As I said a page or so back, the BAT that Brave pays its users each month is purchased off the market, not minted anew, so the supply of BAT isn't inflating, it's fixed.

Brave does hold some fraction of all of the BAT that exists, but I don't recall off the top of my head why they said that they're holding it. I do think that they were releasing some of it as grants (which are different from ad payouts), but I don't think they do those any longer.

Iirc the still occasionally make surveys that give out some bat but what's more likely is brave still gets 40% of ad revenue to develop the platform so unless there's something funny with the amount they hold it's probably that.

As I understood it, they've held onto a reserve of some fraction of all of the BAT that was originally minted. It'd be completely separate from the money they get from ad revenue.

This has been bugging me for the past few days but does anyone else feel like BAT's potential is kinda limited because its a ETH token and not its own coin?
In theory it demand should always be going up ever so slightly since there is a finite supply and payouts happen every month, yet because BAT is part of the ETH network a large part of its price depends on how much the later is going for and the current gas fee (also think the fact that gemini and uphold are the only exchanges that you can link rewards with right now doesn't help).
I'm still gonna hold and but a few bucks worth every so often, maybe things will change when ETH 2.0 launches or when Brave starts using BAT for more features like vpns and search rewards. But I kinda see BAT at best occasionally breaking 1-2 USD once in a blue moon until then

I get like a half a bat per month. The only reason I use the brave browser is to make money. Right now I have 3.1 bats stored and I've been using it for a year. I think bat is about to skyrocket because of Elon Musk

There still isnt a use case for BAT outside of the browser and thats why the price isnt going up. It was supposed to be used for buying things and then that never happened. Honestly think the Brave team used BAT to launch themselves above other crypto projects and then gave up on it.

At least thats what I think as of now...

True but there's very few coins or tokens that can be used to buy something in the first place so BAT isn't unique on the aspect. I still want to say there should be some overall growth because the browser is still steadily growing month by month although if you look at the Brave team's lifetime purchase for ads it only makes up around 2-3% of the total supply.

I hope no one minds the dumb question but BAT is literally my only involvement in crypto. Did something happen that caused the value of the BAT I've been getting through my browser to crater? I want to say 2-3 weeks ago BAT was like 3/4 of a USD and I had a decent amount saved thinking I'd sell it once I hit like 50 USD worth. Now BAT is worth maybe 1/3 of a USD and the amount I've saved up has lost most of it's value.

I admit I am tarded but why can I gain BAT using brave on an android phone without adds popping up, but on the iPad it just says I’ve supported X creators despite getting a bunch of add notifications? Glitch or have I fucked up some how? (The latter is most likely, this is also my first crypto thingo).
