$ (BAT) Basic Attention Token

IIRC tipping goes directly to the farms, but they don't itemize transfers so Null can't verify your tip for supporter status.
If you verify your wallet with uphold on the browser, you can then sent direct transfers that Null can track.
Personally, I'm not giving uphold my personal information.
I know this is late but I verified my wallet long ago. I transferred my BAT to a BTC Card (there is a small transfer fee). You can send BTC from the card to other members via email, but not to BTC addresses. I tried to send BTC to Josh yesterday and to an online casino a few days ago; nope.

To transfer $25 to the BTC Network from the BTC Card, the fee is $17.00. I am assuming that the BTC Network is where you can use actual BTC addresses. They have fees for every transfer but holy shit that seems excessive.

Just a little FYI from my experience yesterday; if anyone else knows more about this and can enlighten me on why their BTC cards are such shit, that'd be neat. I'm old, so take that into consideration.

Sure, but if Brave sees dozens of users (unique Brave installations) on the same IP address it's pretty obvious that it's a VPN.
I've been using Brave browser with a VPN since 2017 and i have no problems getting ads. I had about $300 worth of BAT saved up until I converted it all to BNB(Binance) a couple of months ago.

They're also doing stuff like tracking whether you actually use the browser and visit sites. I'll typically get an ad just as I move the mouse. So while using a VPN based in the US can give you ads that are regionally tied to the US, to actually receive ads you'd have to appear to be a real user.

I assume they're somehow trying to differentiate between human-like and bot-like usage, to avoid abuse of the ad/reward system, although I don't know how effective they are at this. I'd assume that cycling through a bunch of VMs and twitching the mouse in each of them wouldn't suffice to be more profitable than just actually using Brave like you're supposed to.

You're correct, with one "but" that needs to be inserted - as soon as this method becomes viable, popular, and widespread, you'll immediately get Chinese sweatshops full of underpaid employees spamming ads, thus generating revenue. After a while both Brave and the advertisers will catch on, and either introduce severe limitations, or just outright withdraw from the program.
This profit seeking behavior can also be curtailed by giving out tokens at a market rate of value as opposed to just "as is". Your time for the month was worth 5 bucks and you are given the comparable amount of BAT for that at the current price of the market.

That actually sounds about right for a BTC network transaction fee. The fees are ludicrous and confirmation takes hours. This is why BTC is useless as a currency or form of payment.

Yeah no shit - I sent $25 to a casino to get some promotion (just dicking around, was my first time doing online slots) but by the time it got to them, the value was $24.93 and I couldn't get the free fucking spins. Oh well, I got $5 extra BTC on Coinbase for verifying, put on two-factor auth with Authy and just forgetting about it from now on.

Can't wait for the ETH 2 upgrade. BTC is going to get its shit pushed in. The dragons are too busy sitting on their pile of Gold to notice the hobbits sneaking in the back door.

It took me from March 1st until April 7th to finally get my duplicate account deleted, my original account restored and I'm still waiting on the tiny piddly amount of BTC that was in the duplicate amount sent back to the original account. I switched to Vivaldi browser to hell with brave. BTW If you want anything done with Uphold support post something negative on Twitter to @askuphold and they will see it real quick. That's how I finally got my account fixed.

New ATH today, now in the £1 club

It's always hard to tell where the ceiling is, especially when at a 1 dollar a single whale can move the thing 5 cents in a second. BAT pretty predictably shaves a good chunk of its ATH though. not gonna lose sleep over missing the highest price point. That's how you get taken to the cleaners and this is starting to look like a pump and dump

As an update, I underestimated BATS ath, my 1.50 price point was 15 cents under it which is reasonable imo after having watched it all day. What I did not expect however was Ethereum to go for the high score, so that put me In a really weird spot as I was now over inflated on my safe space. Took my profits from that and moved back to BAT at a 1.50.
