But what if someone isn't "in the know" and assumes that the clearly female specialist has proper pronouns?
Do they get banned for not keeping up with DICE's nonsense, or does a bot give them a "friendly" warning?
To think, this all could've been averted if DICE did their own thing instead of shamelessly ripping off Call of Duty.

I thought it was suspicious when they went radio silent after revealing the Portal mode when COD Vanguard and Halo Infinite kept releasing all kinds of info and betas in that timeframe. That they delayed the game a month just like they did with Battlefield V, and released the beta in that mess up state (a single month before release, when COD & Halo had theirs over two months before release), only affirms my concern that the game's going to be another black eye for the series.

It's "JUST LIKE BF4" in the sense that it takes place in the modern era and has helicopters (and be broken at launch).
Unlike this game, BF4 wasn't going out of its way to rip COD off as much as humanly possible.

Shame really because BF4 (when it was fixed) is a great shooter. Full scale modern warfare that takes advantage of the then new hardware.

For real, going from 32 players to 64 players was a magical experience for me.
Of course, it helped that the map sizes weren't inflated to the point of rendering that moot, unlike this game.

No joke, I wanted an Xbox One BECAUSE of Battlefield 4. It was the first next gen experience I had. I still remember playing that Metro level and being immersive with the sound, player count and destruction of the level.
Siege of Shanghai was an interesting concept, that is when it didn't crash on you. Fighting in a city rather than just a small section of it.

eh, dunno. most maps blew, "levotion" was done like ass and the name is fucking retarded, balance was iffy, dlc was questionable (naval strike was the final proof anyone needed dice sweden is even too dogshit to rip off their own titan mode from 2142), and when I quit it was either playing in black&white with FLIR or get blinded by smoke the whole match. big reason people claim it's the "best" is the extensive post launch support it got to make for the abysmal launch (which again should've been the wake-up call for EA to finally get tighter control of dice, then something like bfv would've never happened).
the whole time for me it felt "like bf3 but worse and less fun", at least they finally removed the blue pissfilter. but then I think hardline was a better battlefield than most dice sweden ones, so my opinion is not exactly mainstream to begin with...

I loved Hardline. The arcady game style made it more accessible. I wish the cops and robbers dynamic was more realized, but hey it's EA. I appreciate it not being just another military shooter.

Okay, I have put at least 36 hours into Battlefield V. I think I could give a reasonable assessment on the quality of the game.
It's at its core, a Battlefield title and a military first person shooter. The foundation is there, but DICE made questionable design decisions with V.
Firstly, the campaign is dull. And unfair. I won't get into the historical inaccuracies with V despite DICE's marketing being "stories of the untold, unheard, unknown." A video below explains it better than I could. It tries to get into the same format of Battlefield 1's War Stories. The execution falters with the voice acting, inaccuracies and one-and-done objectives.
You stealth, you go to unstructured objectives, you hold out in an area. Repeat. Stealth doesn't even work. I found myself just brute forcing the levels rather than TRYING stealth. Even Hardline executed the stealth mechanic better than V. I'm going through the campaign on Hardcore, the highest difficulty. Aimbot, low health, just a frustrating experience. Even so, I average around 1-2 hours a level.
The only deviation from this formula is from the Tirailleur campaign. That being, it turns into a watered down Conquest mode where you have to capture points to advance.
Now, the meat of Battlefield (V) is the multiplayer. Where to begin?
The forced inclusion of diversity in a World War II game such as Battlefield hinders the experience. Or rather, the suspension of disbelief is just thrown out the window. I know of the whole "women in World War II" debacle with fans. Personally, I don't care about that. How Battlefield V executes that push in action is where it falters.
You could customize your class loadout. You can also pick preset characters with that. I choose to play as female characters. (If you know me, I am into women from that era, so that's a plus for me.) Each faction has varying characters to decide from. For instance, if you're playing on the Axis side, expect to hear German voice acting and vice versa. The customization for Battlefield V's characters is weak. You can only choose between FIVE hairstyles. And, character models repeat. There's little variation.
You have your typical modes in V. Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch and Domination. Grand Operations returns from Battlefield 1. New modes are Frontlines, Firestorm, and Breakthrough.
Breakthrough is a combination of Rush and Conquest. You capture two to three points to advance. Frontlines has you capture one point at a time, then a final holdout towards the end of the map. These are nice wrinkles to the Battlefield formula.
Firestorm is Battlefield's take on the battle royale trend. You fly into a snow-covered map known as Halvoy where fire surrounding the map makes the playspace smaller. Solo and squad, last man standing wins while you discover vehicles, weapons, loadouts and such. Besides the samey aesthetic with the snow and recycled assets, nobody is playing it. The most players I've encountered in one Firestorm match was 32 players (on Xbox). The map is way too big with the sparse popularity of the mode. You'll spend more time waiting in lobbies and roaming the map than encountering a player. You die, game over.
Destructibility is Battlefield V's strongest suite. Nearly every house, building, structure you can interact with can be destroyed with varying results. For instance, shooting a snow covered roof will cause the snow to fall in chunks on the ground. Tanks can reduce small fences into rubble. In some maps, the ground decays from explosions. It's less of a "gimmick" like Battlefield 4's Levoultion and more of a practical tactic depending on your skill and luck and map.
Battlefield V can look gorgeous, pleasing on the eyes. There's attention to detail from the destruction, map layout, scenery, weather effects that you cannot help but obverse in action. The WW2 setting gives promise to the maps' overall layout and structure. The Pacific Theatre maps in islands and a jungle come to mind. Sound design is on par with Battlefield quality. Bullets can whiz past your head, explosions can deafen your ears if close enough, snow can muffle sounds. If only the voice acting received the same love.
What holds Battlefield V back is the lack of content compared to previous entries and the unpolished state of the game. Glitches affect every aspect of V. UI, auditory, visual, spawning, input, achievements, terrain, you name it. Pop-in and flickering is common, which can be distracting. You can get stuck in terrain out of nowhere, leaving you vulnerable to enemy attacks. Spawns are horribly placed in V. You could die left, right, behind, above because enemies spawn with no logic or YOU spawn in line of fire. Sometimes, the game won't properly detect if it's safe to spawn with a squad member. You could spawn behind him in line of fire or stuck in some awkward position.
That's just mild cases of glitches. UI input is cluttered. When you revive or build a fortification, V wants you to be in a particular spot to execute the action. You could accidentally press X and it'll initiate the animation without your say and stop midway through. V is animation focused. Everything you do is through an animation with no ability to turn it off. Vaulting, reviving, entering/exiting vehicles, building, being DBNO (down but not out.) In previous games, animations would last a second if even. As immersive as they can be, they can be cumbersome to overcome.
Input can be delayed when performing actions like shooting or reloading. Hell, if you leave a match, you cannot do anything for 30 seconds while you wait for the game to respond. I remember an instance to where my female German character would have a male Black voice during combat. The combat dialogue is unrealistically chipper and high-pitched. The "Elite" achievement, requiring you to get 500K accumulative XP, doesn't unlock at that XP gauge. I'm at level 31 (750,000) and it has yet to trigger.
It's a shame that DICE abandoned V a mere 1-2 years after release. The best way to describe it would be one step forward, two steps back. It's an inferior version of Battlefield 1 in every way. If you have Origin or Game Pass, it is certainly worth a try. If you find it cheap, it's a curiosity that is worth the experience. Do not buy it at full price.

Very bold of them to show off more Specialist gameplay instead of the class system fans wanted.
I wonder how DICE will feel if this mode ended up being far more popular and liked than their new baby.

Only 4 Battlefield games? No 2142, no 1, no Bad Company 1, no Battlefield 2? All DICE had to do was take Battlefield 4 and go from there without trying to copy Warzone.

All they literally had to do was create an updated BF4. Add content, improved graphics, improved map design, maybe tweak some of the gameplay. And revamp jet physics. I don't really have a solution, but nearly everything is better than 313 turning.
ALSO: make sniper slots a standard feature.
If they retain the Zou Zou jump, I'll buy that shit at full price.
