Tom Henderson stated that there was a lot of worker turnover at DICE, with 87% of about 500 or so DICE employees joining during or after BF1's development, and 58% of them joining during BF2042's development. Combine that with the report about Mesmar's departure that said that DICE had over 80 creative directors, and how the Frostbite engine is a pain to work with, it explains a lot as to how BF2042 released as an unfinished, rushed, buggy mess.

He also stated that he plans to release a video to explain what happened during BF2042's development, including disproving the "well ahead of schedule" statement:

lol those replies. amazing how many people go on twitter to defend a broken ass game.

So why did he market it so heavily to the point of saying buy EA stock.

Sometimes you gotta lead the shot if they're moving, and you may have to aim above them at long ranges.

I don't know if BF1 or BFV have the option, but there might be a scope available with a range finder that will tell you the distance. Otherwise, it's guess work.

No. If you want to fire a bullet far, you have to aim higher to compensate for the bullet drop. Zeroing will just adjust your scope so that you physically aim at the same place, but the gun is aimed up a bit higher to simulate you aiming higher.

I usually play as assault, but a few tips for recon:

Your bullets are affected by gravity, they will drop with distance and take time to reach targets at longer ranges. Play around on the test range area to get a feel for how each rifle shoots at varying distances and how much you need to adjust your aim to compensate.

During play against live targets try to gauge how much you need to aim ahead of a moving target so your bullet will land and not fire too far behind or ahead. Each round fired is a tracer, so it will be easy to see the trajectory of each bullet fired and how to adjust for the next shot.

Whenever possible try to be prone when sniping, it will increase your accuracy, stability and you present as a smaller target. Your scope creates a glint that other players can see that reveals your position, so be aware that you are not invisible.

As far as zeroing goes, certain rifles have a 4th perk specialization that allows for zeroing your rifle when using scopes (this does not work with iron sights). Semi auto rifles do not have this specialization.

To adjust zero use the key or button you use for changing firing modes on your weapons. The current zero distance will be displayed by your ammo counter. You can cycle through it as needed to adjust your zero.

To know how far away your target it, use your spotting scope tool, it will display the exact range your target is away from you. So switch to the zero distance that closest matches the actual target distance. You will still have to adjust for gravity and target movement, but much less so.
Thanks to your tips with Recon, I've achieved four consecutive headshot kills with the Lee-Enfield rifle. Now can somebody help me learn to fly a damn plane...?

I played BF2042 a bit today (home sick from work) and realized what a mess it is in less than 15 minutes. I've already claimed my steam refund and gone back to playing Insurgency Sandstorm

The hit registration bug, which is obviously a big deal in a FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER, will not be fixed in the upcoming Update 3 in December:

It really goes to show how badly DICE and EA messed up this game, when fixing hit registration is a "work in progress."

My guy, Sandstorm is really shit with the Fortnite-esque updates (also, the Desert Eagle in a bloody Israel warfront really?)

to be fair, if I read the mesmar report right the 80 directors is across 3 games, and the "muh frostbite" statement comes from bioware, a studio with a notorious shit technical track record - no other studio seem to have that problem, but given dice sweden being dice sweden I wouldn't be surprised if they're equally unqualified to do it (remember most of the bf4 fixes and even improvements like higher tickrate where a joint venture between dice la and visceral doing hardline at the same time). I always said EA should move game design over to la and reduce sweden to a mere frostbite support studio, but I get the impression they're too shit for even that these days.

regarding the turnover number it really depends on the department, and who quit when. art and other devs are getting pumped & dumped constantly depending how much they're needed for example, unless the studio is constantly shitting out fortnite-level cosmetics there's not much use for them post-launch (and even epic cheapens out with that by working the devs they have to the bone).

they can't even copy a multiplier from older code, you think they'll suddenly "have the tech" to be able to figure out why some shot's don't register and how to fix it?

that shit's never getting fixed, 2042 is the cp2077 of shooters.

What's it going to take to knock some sense into DICE? If Battlefield V wasn't enough, what hope do they have?

Remember when they said they weren't including a campaign so they could focus on the multiplayer and make it even better?

And not only that, but then had the balls to jack the price up to $70 on consoles because ???

Now they say they can't even get hit fucking registration right and it won't be fixed for an undetermined amount of time.

This game has to be one of the biggest EA grifts in a while.

Yeah and Hazard Zone was gonna kill Warzone and Tarkov.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had been working on a campaign, but cancelled it mid production like Black Ops 4.

This game clearly had a nasty development cycle, and DICE would rather lie about it to try to save face.

Nah, dude. There's literally nothing wrong with Sandstorm other than people who use the female models and constantly use the voice lines

It seems a bunch of the Dice snowflake devs are blocking Tom Henderson on Twitter because he hurt their fee fees by reporting all this shit. :story:

Jesus Christ, DICE has to be one of the most arrogant developers in the industry. To learn nothing from Battlefield V's failures (if anything, they seem determined to ignore its genuinely good elements like movement and gunplay), release 2042 in this sorry state, and turtle up when someone reports their incompetence is simply astounding.

Much as it pains me that Battlefront III will continue to elude us, I'd fear what current DICE would do to it.

Angry Joe uploaded an even longer BF2042 review:

EA and DICE will be deploying Update #3 tomorrow. Although it has a lot of changes, it unfortunately does not fix the major issues that the game has, such as the hit registration issues, the memory leak issues on PC, the loadout bug, the poor map designs, and all of the various missing "Legacy Features", so this game is still fucked.

Thumbnail is awful but I guess it encapsulates the fucked up state of BF2042.

While watching the video, I couldn't help but think that both BF and CoD are making fun of war. CoD:V actively encourages war and glorifies it compared to the baby-boomer generic CoDWW2, while BF2042 is making jokes and not taking the setting seriously. Back then stuff like World at War and the first Modern Warfare actually questioned war by showing some of the horrifying actions (burning down surrendering Germans and the entire nuke scene) while some like BO1 and 2 showed that character development can change over the course of the war and not embracing it, more like a means to an end. Past Battlefield games, from BF3 and 4 showed that from the multiplayer voicelines that they took the setting seriously, for BF4, and made it somewhat hammy and comedic for BF3, since war affects morale and marines needs the morale boost in the middle of a firefight to remind them of where they currently are. BF1 had a terrified tone as most soldiers will voice their discontent in the war, having a scared tone in their voices because one bullet is enough to end their lives (and the fact that WWI was where the first real war began).

In the two new iterations, it seems like they love to say that war is a good thing. Vanguard will ignore the rules set by the Geneva Convention and will giddily burn enemies with smiles, almost like the army was conscripted with a bunch of psychopaths (nevermind the fact that actual operations are envisioned for the political agenda). 2042 has operators literally saying shit like "they're better than you" at the end score and stuff like that. How did we go from self-awareness of war and characters developing in the middle of conflict to children-wannabes that will go full Rambo in the middle of the battlefield while spewing Fortnite quotes?

There's your answer - The unprecedented success of Fortnite in a CoD-infested landscape was undoubtedly the catalyst for this "casual war" premise that both sides have adopted. If it had simply burned out like Overwatch they wouldn't have sought to imitate it.

It seems counteractive to me that you have taunting voice lines at the end of 2042, yet do your best to stymy any competitive framework this may create by having no scoreboard, etc. Feel like they had it set up, but then foolishly let HR playtest the game and had to deal with the fallout.

On the bright side, can confirm the anti-teabagging is not enforced at all.
