From my experience, you just fall over in first person. I like how in 4 and 1, the camera zooms to your killer.
Yes I hate the non zoomed out ones. I remember battlefield 3 being a particular eye sore.

I regret not purchasing the Onslaught and SPECTAC DLC from Bad Company 2 before it was delisted. Ideally for completionist reasons. Now, I'm permanently locked out of those achievements. At least I'm nearly done with Vietnam.

Finally obtained all Vietnam achievements. Now I need to do 1943 to complete the last achievement of 100 wins. That takes longer than you think.

Dicking around on Battlefield 2 again has been fun. One thing that amazes me (but maybe not, it is a good game) is how many people still play.

Bad news: EA delisted 1943 and I have one more achievement to complete it.

Good news: I found a key for it and Battlefield 1 (with Premium and pre order DLC) for $10. Not bad. I still have until the 8th to finish 100 matches.

Forgive my double post:

I'm amazed that these Battlefield games lasted as long as it did. Ten, fifteen years I believe. Of course, playing them NOW after games with more advanced netcode and control schemes does show their age. I'm speaking from console experience, PC mileage may vary.

I appreciate how Battlefield evolved itself with official server browser and customization over time. I'm sure that the PC community have/are developing unofficial ways to preserve their legacies once EA pulls the plug on them. Console players, however, will be out of luck unless they previously purchased them (like I did.)

I've accepted that server shutdowns are par of the course for EA titles. The issue is how EA, and the gaming industry in general, treats their franchises with a lack of preservation or general maintenance despite said titles having a modest playerbase or selling them through various means.

EA does not care about the work put into their products or the fans that enjoy those experiences. It's no wonder that community projects exist for mere preservation.

A workaround might be found for Bad Company 2+Vietnam on the PC front, but unfortunately, it’s unlikely that the first Bad Company and 1943 will be playable again since they were both exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.
I remember Kacey's video (linked above) mentioned a fan made project for Bad Company on PS3. Where that goes remains to be seen. EA games require authentication through EA servers. On the console side, that may be hard to achieve.

There's a Christmas Holiday Protocol in BF2042 starting this week.

Let's hope that they've fixed the Attack of the Elves mode.
I'm looking forward the fun shitshow of Pondhawk Superiority.

There's no factions in 2042, presumably to please the Chinese market. Yet, they'll vaguely allude to Christmas in events without actually SAYING it. Everything about 2042 gives out the worse aspects in the video game industry. Generic, broken, pandering, padded product.

There's no identity with 2042. I'm bored just looking at it.

Other BF games for better or for worse had identities of their own. Here, it's just a horrifying Frankenstein monster

I did it legit way back in 2010. I'll tell you, sniping the pilot out of the helicopter legitimately was extremely gratifying (but the whole game was tbh).

I'm divided on the Season 7 thing. On the one hand, I'm fine with DICE not outright dropping support of the game when the pretty numbers didn't go up, and other mainstream FPSes apparently decided to suck hard at roughly the same time (Vanguard, Modern Warfare: Shameless Diablo Plug Edition). On the other hand, I thought Street Fighter 5 was 7 long years of Capcom desperately polishing a turd, and no doubt there are plenty of Battlefield fans who feel the same way about 2042.

I guess if the next one is a much better product set in more contemporary times, I think it's all worthwhile. Big emphasis on "if" though, seeing as I don't have much faith in DICE lately.

Helicopters weren't in 1943, unless you're talking about Vietnam. I remember shooting down a helicopter with an RPG. SO satisfying if you know how hard it is to lead a rocket.
