Battlefield General - Discuss the series here

Things look okay, so far. Gameplay may be pretty solid for the first time in like 9 years of Battlefield

.....but it's absolutely crazy how they sandwich everything good between women developer commentary and a pathetic DEI gynocentric plot about the relationship between a brown woman and black man... set in WW3. They still have the same cocksucker puppetmasters, don't be fooled into thinking anything has actually changed. It's all a little covert humiliation ritual at our expense. Man do I hate these people.

FPS "content creators" disgust me so ill wait for the open beta to check it out.
From a couple I recognized, they’re Call of Duty streamers. That fat Tim guy is there too.

I noticed BF6 is copying Call of Duty in a couple areas: a shooting range and lean-and-peek gunplay.

Again, I’m impressed so far but I want to play it to accurately judge it. EA also said that they’re not upping their MSRP to $80 (yet) so this would be the tipping point of where Battlefield goes. Hence the beta and multiplayer reveal.

This map was not the right choice for the very first demonstration. Looks just like 3 different 2042 maps, very sparse. Guns look and seem to feel so similar to 2042 as well, at least at a glance.

Isn't that the point of Battlefield? PTFO (play the fucking objective.) Otherwise, just play Call of Duty. At least that's what people tell me in comms.
No you don't get it.

22 fuckin years ago they had actual tactical/strategic aspects to the game. The game has devolved INTO call of duty, it hasn't improved since then in terms of strategy.

And by the way Battlefield 6 just looks like 2042 LARPing as 4 as suspected.

No, 2042 maps were much larger and emptier. While it is certainly a large map, it doesn't seem that bad.

Yup. It was always going to be a skinwalker of a game, the question was how much skin will it be walking
There's a very unsavory "tightness" to the feel of every movement that was specifically added to compete with CoD. I truly hate it.

Were older Battlefields slower or is it just my old ass? Looks like a game of COD on a bigger map.
It's absolutely faster. Older games could be played almost as fast if you really mastered the floaty motion and heavier feel, but now it's like all the weight is gone. Movement is technically slower than 2042, but that's only one aspect of the speed of the game. For example, ADS strafing is pinpoint accurate and pretty fast. That is not the case in older games.

As an aside, fuck leftists for forcing us to put women in these goddamn games. Complete immersion destroyer, extremely grating to listen to.

Everything is functionally identical to the previous iterations. The destruction model looks the same. All of the abilities look the same. Everything looks the same.
They went "safe bet" with this, and there's nothing to it.
I had thought, okay, it's an alpha/beta. Reusing assets is normal. But, it still looks and feels like 2042. I don't think it would change before October.

Who the hell is The Burnt Peanut?
Its a good thing to not recognize these "people". Least talked about contributing factor in the enshittification of games is devs listening to what e-celebs think. Leads to games turning into """"competitive""" slop for 15 y/o Ritalin users and cyber Koreans.

I checked out before BFV's launch so my hopes are firmly in the "BF4 but new" category.

Nothing says "sell me on your military shooter" like having a streamer cosplaying as a PEANUT to show your game and commentary shouting hype call outs.

It'd have also been smart to not have the same exact optic that everyone uses in 2042 be an option at all in the beta. They should be distancing themselves from that slop as much as possible. Also vehicles turn too damn fast still, they look weightless. Such weird decisions. I remember watching tanks turn in BF4 was cinematic purely because of how slow it was. They were also very powerful to make up for it.

A couple positives, since I've been kinda shitting on it:
TTK actually seems fine, pretty close to BF4. Spread is actually noticeable which is very surprising, glad to see it. Explosions look pretty good. Maps have more cover again. Character models look good in general. Dragging is cool and seems to work well.
