So the things i've been seeing seem to be promising. Do you guys think its wise to get my hopes up? I haven't bought a battlefield since BF1.
optimistic about it for sure, but you never know if EA shits the bed on launch or any post-launch update, this is the company thats been releasing mostly shit consistently for like the past 10+ years after all
Did they bring back the old server browser (at least on pc), or is that extinct now?
no, the good thing is you only have a chance to get put into a join in progress game the first time you queue, every other match you matchmake afterwards is gonna be a fresh match, at least to my knowledge, hopefully they consider putting in a server browser and private servers post-launch

See that’s how I was with 4 and 3. I loved 3 and 4 was eh to me.
1 and 3 are my favorites.

I bought 5 and was so disappointed.
Waited with 2042 and was so glad I didn’t get it. The trailers didn’t fool me.
lol I got both 5 and 2042 for free, I played 5 for a while and it was like a different game, felt so gimmicky. One thing I did appreciate was the crouch running, and I had some "oh shit" type of moments playing, but it just really fell flat. To this day I don't think I've even played a single match on 2042, for a while I was interested because it sounded like you'd be able to play different battlefield loadouts and maps from different eras, but the server issues and jankiness everyone talked about + just having better shit at the time led to me not playing it.

I got really into some of the more hardcore FPS games starting with HLL and then into Arma and Insurgency so I put down stuff like Battlefield for the last like 2-3 years other than popping onto BF4 sometimes just to see if Metro was still up (last I checked it was not :/).

Wonder if they'll do like they did with 4 and release some classic map packs? Wake Island was always fun to fuck around on.

always stimpacks when shot at.
I still thought the stim the assault class gets helped with health regen, guess I'm also a niggertard.

It might be in the full release, but it's definitely not in the open beta. No battlelog either.

TL-DR? some faggot is going:
STOOOOOOOOOOOP
HAAAAAAAAAAAAVING
FUN
I went and read some of the comments, and weirdly there are people complaining about performance. I maxxed the game out at 4K without upscaling and was still on 70FPS. The Cairo map looks fantastic. Other than that there's people complaining about the pace being too fast. Did these people never play Metro or Lockers?

This is such a breath of fresh air after 2042. That game was such a massive piece of shit. I hope they remove the "sweet spot" thing with snipers as that is a simply fucking stupid design choice, among some other things I have some issues with, but I've been having fun.
I really hope they look at the engi repair "skill" in particular.

Crossing my fingers then. 24/7 Metro and 24/7 Karkand servers were like crack to me in BF 3.

Regardless, not preordering or buying within 2 weeks of launch. Nobody gets trusted to make a good game anymore. ESPECIALLY EA. I have the beta downloaded but its too late to start playing tonight. I'll give my thoughts tomorrow.

If they don't self-felt the series to death with this one, the next one they need to do is either Battlefield 2143 or Battlefield 1987. Imagine a Fulda Gap map.

If only DICE wasn't staffed by woke Swedes for the past decade.

I'm debating whether or not to give into my inner manchild because this is genuinely fun and preorder. I'm seeing friends I haven't seen online in years come online to play the open beta.

:disagree: for "don't pre-order"

:agree: for "pre-order"

Finally got around to getting a few matches in with the boys, and I'll say we could, possibly, ostensibly be back. I skipped out on the last few Battlefield games so my frame of reference isn't great, but the moment-to-moment gameplay feels like Battlefield 3, which I played a metric fuckton and loved. I thought the scope glare on Recon would be a much bigger issue, but it seems to only really be a factor for counter-sniping people who sit in one spot aiming down sight. Even if you can see it, unless you have the proper weapon to respond to it, there isn't much you can do to counter it (laughs in M4A1 with 5x magnification).

I just noticed. the firing range in BF6 plays the BF4 theme, what a tease.

I noticed this little ditty playing while I was in there as well. Google, YouTube, and my buddies were trying to gaslight me that this game never existed. Fuck you internet, I'm not crazy. I 'member.

BF6 has the same gunplay and movement as 2042, they learned nothing. the only difference is the maps are cod maps now. practically no destruction and so much fucking indestructible cover. anyone comparing this to bf3 or bf4 is retarded this is just modern day fast paced call of duty.

Apparently BF6 requires players to uninstall Valorant lmao

BF6 has hit the spot, I haven’t had this much fun in an FPS since BF3.

PoE2 is the only recent game that can hold me to a session longer than 2 hours, but all of Saturday I was playing game after game with my old BF crew.
They’ve managed to replicate what made BC2/BF3 so much fun.

I wish people weren’t so retarded though, one squad can’t turn the tide of a game if none of the other squads make use of the flanked flag we just took.
32 players is too much for an infantry squad to take on, I feel like you need an 8 man in a call to sway a game (at least).

My only real complaint so far is the feedback for revives kinda sucks. I find myself double checking over and over again every time I revive to make sure I actually did because there's no distinct sound or pop ups letting you know you did so, unless you stare at the player you revived but when milliseconds matter in battlefield you can't waste time, it's revive and move on. It doesn't help that sometimes when you revive they stay in the same position you revived them in, on their back, so it looks like they're still downed. And the pop up you get is so tiny that's it's hard to even notice sometimes. Especially when shit gets chaotic.

But outside of that my only other nitpick is less to do with the game and the problem plaguing the community since I started back in bad company 2 but didn't fully manifest until 3: the lack of teamwork. Tanks survive far too long on tiny ass maps and that's a lack of selflessness more than a game problem. Play the game how you want but can you maybe switch out to engineer when you get blown back to the 1930's and shoot a couple rockets, then just switch back to recon or whatever you were doing? Hell, at least throw a damn frag.

Edit: Oh, and when you go to mess around with your weapon attachments. Why do I have to first hit modify... then customize? Can we just get a dedicated button to go right to weapon customization? Not only that, but what do they think we want when we have a weapon selected, then hit modify? That we actually want a buffer just to really make sure we want to change stuff around?

It will be so funny if the game is actually really good but bombs on PC because it quite literally fries people's motherboards lmfao
All BO7 has to do is literally not kill the computer of it's user, but between the hackers giving random people RATs and the game itself spying on it's users and allegedly doing some shady shit with their RAM, that might actually be harder than you think.

>The whole game is worth 400$ million
>The suits at EA really expect 100 million players over the game's lifetime even though Battlefield has never out sold COD historically.
>The portal is going to basically be a mix between Garry's Mod and Halo forge
>They're going to release a battleroyale in an oversaturated market

I'm glad they're desperate after 3 games shitting on their fans, (Battlefront 2 with the microtransactions, BFV with the alt history and diversity, and 2042 with the suits forcing the devs to chase trends and waste time), but I get the feeling they might be fucked anyway and it's really sad to watch. Battlefield has always been not necessarily niche, but it's always existed in it's corner of the market, it will never be on the level of Fortnite.

I love the open beta so far.
