I feel like I'm going crazy with all the praise this heap of shit is getting. Map design is awful.
I agree, a lot of stuff is being done right but I am in the "very cautiously optimistic" because beta camp.

The alpine map, whatever the name, sucks balls. Like, bad. That map is impossible to navigate without being nailed by snipers. I was literally spawning in and within 3-5 seconds getting headshot by a sniper I just barely saw the glint of.

BUT! The Arabic map, again w/e the name is, I loved. Very few sniper angles and even then when you learned where they were, very easy to avoid. Liked that one a lot.

Again, I am cautious. But hopeful the later maps are better. (And shit on 2042 all you want, but DICE did go back and edit the launch maps as improvements to community complaints. Today, I don't hate most of them. I think some of them have cool ideas.)

Is the "Attackers are fucked in Breakthrough" deal in BF6 as bad as when Hourglass and Kaleidoscope in 2042 had rooftop objectives on their final sectors, making them also almost impossible to win on Attack?
I didn't play 2042 so I couldn't tell you, but the problem in particular is that Attackers will often times not even capture the first two points. Using Cairo as an example, you need to hold A and B. The only way to capture A is being on the ground floor. The ground floor has 3 separate entrances, and then there's another 3 up top. You simply cannot reliably defend every entryway without being overrun on the weakest side and taking shots to your back. You're essentially constantly exposed, with little in the way of defensible cover.

Vehicles, in theory, should be there to assist, but can only do so much, especially when taking rockets. And if you're vehicle driver is a dipshit, good luck! Even if you take A, you then need to hold it while taking B, which is also completely out in the open with minimal cover.

And some of this issues here aren't even Battlefield's fault. With proper communication, or playing in a 4-man squad of pipe-hitting niggas talking to each other, you can get some work done. But no one communicates in games in the modern age with the exception of calling each other niggers, and that lack of communication just naturally benefits the defending team, who has unlimited tickets as opposed to 200. 200 tickets is probably very low in general for Attackers. You're losing fucking 100 of those in Liberation Peak to snipers alone.

Since week 1 is about over, I'd just like to say Battlefront 2 is great and there's a multiplayer revival project for Bad company 2 made by the guys who made project reality.

Bad news is you might need a legal key from a reseller, I'm going to torrent the game until I find a working copy. I'm not spending 25$ for a 15 year old game.

You can get on the highway. I cheesed that a lot and sniped or machine gunned from there. You can also roof hop around the map but it's pretty tricky to get the parachuting right.

This is the most frustrating bullshit. the minimap doesn't show what was going on but this was on breakthrough on liberation peak, this faggot had two engineers piggybacking on the back of his tank, constantly repairing it, he had his front armor facing the enemy at all times and since my team was full of sniper fags (we were on defense) we didn't have enough engineers consistantly shooting at him to kill him. He kept getting kills thanks to his own sniper's autospotting everyone, and the only reason we won is because half the enemy team was snipers, and this faggot refused to push his tank onto the site to support any push that was going on. He kept the tank on the left side of the map, using it as invincible mobile artillery. I'm at a loss for how to fix this, except by making the engineer's repair tool's fuel a finite resource, which wouldn't be fun.

The alpine map reminds me a lot of Sinai desert from BF1 which was also in it's beta, not in terms of map size (if anything Sinai's main problem is that it's too large, with at least half of it's map being dedicated to a single flag with two or three small buildings surrounded by a completely empty desert), but because of how annoying the damn snipers are on it.

A big problem with snipers in general with this is that outside of stopping self health regen, suppression effects are barely a thing, which would be the one gameplay change I'd like to realistically see on the full release to where things like scope sway massively increase if under reasonably accurate fire.

A thought would be to add "destructible armor areas on the tank" that, when destroyed, serve as weak points and are repaired slower than health (and/or require the engi to repair that area).

Also regarding maps, you just know there's going to be some braindead Metro or Nuketown -esque map that will end up being the most popular one.

Feels like part and parcel for a Battlefield game (at least the more modern ones), you always end up with small organized tank squads that just steamroll through objectives, snipers that don't move more than a few feet throughout the entire match, or flight sim rejects that barely ever engage in ground combat. So many matches would just throw you into a meatgrinder scenario where you'd spawn on an aircraft carrier, realize there aren't any actual planes on it because they're all camped from server start, swim to the nearest objective, get sniped, respawn, get rolled over by a tank squad and then promptly leave, hoping the next match turns out better (it doesn't).

No they fucking arent, they are both fast paced games that have the exact same movement and lack of weight that makes me feel like I'm playing a game with cartoon physics. Bf3 Bf4 hardline and bf1 all feel realistic. All they did was remove the gay voicelines and make soldiers look like soldiers wearing helmets and masks.
Load up 2042 and play it for 30 minutes then do the same for 6. The infantry and gunplay feel significantly different.
It did lol?
Yeah the deadspace remake was pretty damn poz'd.

I feel like I'm going crazy with all the praise this heap of shit is getting. Map design is awful. Attackers will lose 95% of Breakthrough matches unless they're placed in the designated retard shithead queue when skill-based matchmaking determines they've lost enough times, and even that isn't a guaranteed win because every point you need to capture has 9 different ways for Defenders to push in and fuck you. You're constantly killed by an unseen enemy that just happened to sprout behind you. The maps are just way too chaotic to try and mount any sort of coherent strategy. Sniper 1-shot kills in the chest are a nightmare, every team in Liberation Peak has 10+ recoons, which means you're constantly auto-marked so the enemy knows your location at all times. And the twitch based movement is straight out of Call of Duty. If this is Battlefield "being back" then maybe I lost the plot somewhere.
You're not crazy, it's insane how much glazing there is going on and I don't even think most of it is astroturfed. Thing is, Battlefield fans are so starved for content that even a the most mediocre title is immediately the best thing ever made that they will play all year round, even if it catches their computer on fire. No standards, no tastes, no games to play either despite the fact that Delta Force and other titles already exist to scratch that itch. Battlefield formula isn't unique either, plenty of shooters now have Conquest modes and vehicles and probably do the whole thing better than DICE can(for example, MW2019's Ground War mode).
This game is going to be overrated to all hell and once the honeymoon wears off, you will see a lot of people being critical over it. Around that time, the microtransactions, hackers and other retarded EA drama should start too, so I am actually looking forward to that more than the game launch itself.

I saw this all weekend too. Granted, part of it was because the "repair vehicles" challenge was easily the most grindy so I'm sure most players won't give a fuck about repair later, but yeah, this sucked.

I will say a few (personal :smug: ) opinions I had being a bad fps gamer
1. I don't like how fast paced the game feels, I'm Old now so it makes me unhappy with how I perform. I liked the idea of "posting up" but kinda unviable really
2. It feels like I get one shot constantly, but I've become a boomer with my current game genre tastes now so I think that's mostly a me problem. (Fuck the shotgun murderboys, and the tripletap As rifles)
3. I tried conquest but had that problem of this genre of fps where everyone plays the rocketlauncher class, so vehicles feel both useless and crazy good if mega supported
But the last BF I seriously played was 3, I skipped 4, missed the bf1 beta, played 5 but hated it (I was bad), then the 2042 wouldn't run on my i7-7700k I had at the time

That's been a staple of Battlefield since forever. A couple of the games have a cooldown on the repair tool but that's what the second engineer would be used for. If you want a real nightmare, Battlefield 1 can provide with the Bomber you can't see from the ground and the Artillery Truck that's so effective I would, by default, sound MATI describing it.

Hell Let Loose ate BFV's lunch when they pissed off the history autists and people who had family who fought in WW2.
Sadly Hell Let Loose didnt eat much of BF lunch. Their biggest mistake was they made players totally depend on mics and teammates to play the damn game. While in BF you can join a team and just do what the fuck you want, without ever using a mic and still get the objective done.

The difference between the ease of use between PC and console is very obvious imo. I played both, and I did very well on console and very poorly on PC. I'm sure part of it was due to only recently restarting FPS on PC with Ready or Not. Besides the aim assist that controllers get, another major factor imo is the inferior graphics fidelity. Everything is so scaled down on PS5 that there's far less distractions and elements on screen which can disrupt target acquisition.

Don't get me wrong, I'm probably going to play fully on PC when it gets released. However, I'd prefer it to be between PC players only, since consoles get an edge over M+KB due to the assist imo.

Ironically hardcore 2042 is the closest i've seen to a "slower, more deliberate" battlefield with faster projectile speeds, lower base health, and no minimap.

Hardcore 2042 should've been the default version of the game - it was infinitely better when players weren't so spongy. That SWS-10 sniper rifle could actually kill enemies rather than tickle them in the base mode, and people dropped far quicker.

Played one round of Hardcore in 2142 and it was the best I've ever had in that game. No sliding, no wacky acrobatics. You go forward slowly, you get to shoot first, and you get to kill them. As it should be.
