I can't see why DICE simply didn't copy BF4's class dynamic with some tweaks here and there. IMO the only major downside the old system had was that niche classes such as M320 assaults had to either trade med bags or defibs to rock launchers, but BF6 could've improved on that by simply providing at least one of those tools as standard kit to keep an element of teamplay to those classes.

Seriously, I don't think either COD tourists or BF vets would be upset over that dynamic. Currently, classes either contribute nothing to teams (recon, assault) or simply do everything (support, engi) with no inbetween. Fusing ammo and med bags into one made having a fourth class in the game redundant, and looking at assault now, you can just tell they were out of ideas as soon as DICE planned his kit. I can just imagine the discussion during the design meeting:

>"Yeah, uh, we gave every key squad tool to the 3 other classes, what the fuck do we do with assault?"
<"Just give him a sledgehammer man"
>"Alright great, we'll give him a third gun and launchers as well lmao"
<"I just had a brilliant idea bro: we'll give him recon's beacon too. Alr I'm going to McDonalds bro I'm hungry, later”

“Guys, how about we give Engineers 5 RPGs and 5 stingers each? And make sure they likely can be used for the same thing? That way ONE engineer can take down all the vehicles and won’t need support for resupplies!”

“Won’t that make Support kinda irrelevant? And make people less likely to spawn as engineer?”

“Exactly! Less confusion for our new player base!”

Shit man, it’s like they try to make the Class system exist in name only, while simultaneously insisting that “We’re going back to basics!” to lure in old school BF players.

Part of the charm of BFV was that you DIDNT spawn with 10 goddamn RPGs and needed support to pull a heroic clutch result.

Also made all those older players without Adderall reflexes and god tier aim feel useful.

“My KD ratio sucks, but they couldn’t have taken the objective without my revives/resupplies!”

Modern gaming sucks man.

Looks like there probably won't be any Little Bird or Scout Helicopter at launch based on a chink Labs build that's leaked.

As a Little Bird enjoyer myself, that sucks. I can only hope it means they're redesigning the aerial vehicles so they're not like 2042.

If you sincerely believe this you suck lol. With recon you can place a beacon close to the action, block spots, and and spot out an area in the map. Just because faggots use it to go camp in the hills doesn't mean it isn't good for team play.
Beacon's getting moved to assault, and long range sightlines are nonexistent beyond a single map everybody universally despises, making its spotting perk pointless. Nobody actually uses a recon outside of Liberation Peak because as it turns out, you're not blocking anything when an assault shotgunner with an incendiary launcher reliably flushes you out 24/7 without needing constant spotting in CQB.

The spotting sensor's good, and so was the beacon during the beta, but I predict that on release, recon's gonna be useless 90% of the time outside of passively farming points with the sensor. By that point, nothing will justify using a recon over literally anything else in the game if you want to actually help your team out long-term, because positioning across flags was very predictable (if nobody's camping out of bounds, that is), enemies are very easy to spot even without the dorito, and its class weapons are toothless in our current map settings. It'll just be "assault, but worse and with one relevant gadget".

Wait a minute, doesn't Battlefield 6 come out on October 10th?

What is Activision thinking with releasing their hated Black Ops 7 two days before BF6's release?

I liked my experience with the beta but the TTK takes some getting used to for close to medium range combat. Empire State wasn’t too bad, although I expected more streets instead of the samey interiors. They definitely need to nerf shotguns and change the flow of maps for Breakthrough. It’s too easy to be trapped in spawn.
shotguns having relatively good range and damage gives bf another point against cod. The assault rifle(s) need a buff in comparison, at least at medium range.
Beacon's getting moved to assault
Jesus, why?? They're already screwing shit up.

If you're going to point out that the beacon's being moved post-beta, why are you claiming only one map has long range when you already know we're getting 5 more maps post-beta that are larger than the ones in said beta?

As for how useful they'll be, they still have their place I think. Currently their gadget pool is C4, Claymores, M2 Slams, a Recon Drone, Tracer Dart Gun, something called the LTLM II, and a.... head on a pole? They definitely have plenty of explosive options for the Spec Ops branch.

Because EA and nu-DICE are notorious liars, and their statements over maps came after everybody grilled them over map size AFAIK. This behavior's been a common thread throughout this beta and the other beta builds they had published previously for other games.

Hopefully I'm wrong and recon wont be useless or another "solo-shitter" class. It's simply not looking good from where I'm standing, and them choosing to give away signature tools away like this on a whim is a huge sign that they might not know what the fuck they're doing.

I liked moving the C4s from assault to recon (same as in 4, i think), has the dual benefit of making assault less effective against vehicles alongside incentivizing recon to actually move closer to the frontlines. Moving the spawn beacon from recon to assault is interesting; I can see the rationale as, although the spawn beacon has a clear team utility, it feeds into the solo sniper dickhead playstyle that they'd want to disincentivize. My only concern then would be recon feeling like it's missing a good gadget as it's raison d'être (A flare gun, or a functional equivalent, like in BF1 may suffice). We'll have to see how that shakes out.

Huh? Only on Iberian Offensive was recon largely unusable, on the other three sniping was fine (while perhaps not strictly necessary).

Decided to download 2042 and grind through for these rewards. It's my first time playing it and... I fail to see where all the hate comes from. Granted, I wasn't around to watch the process of the game's issues slowly being ironed out from launch, but in it's current state, it's not horrible. From the way people cry and piss and shit over it, I was expecting it to be Homefront levels of shit, but it's just an okay game.

The operators they broke the classes down into are pretty much silent now and I fail to see how having operators with difference perk types within the same class is any different than the different styles each class has in BF6. The vehicles are bit on the oppressive side and some the maps don't have a great flow or are a bit too spacious. I've been enjoying revisiting older maps from the series including Iwo Jima. Being able to swap around between 3 attachments on the fly is a nice touch. Every weapon seems to be at least usable and there's plenty to choose from.

Overall, I was anticipating a much worse experience then what I've seen. What is so egregious about this game?

As it stands today it's not terrible, but for people who have played for a while the constant rebalancing shook out more and more players and the movement system being simplified after V's parkour made it feel like one hell of a downgrade. The feeling of it being a hero shooter didn't resonate well either since you either chose based on which gadget you're stuck with or if you wanted to play fake support.
