If I let geopolitics dictate what games I buy, I would never have bought anything from Sony or Nintendo. I just assess if it's a good game or not, and if it's particularly shit or egregious, I won't buy it. Being sanctimonious about the Saudis when a lot of video games in general are pandering, aggressively monetised shitheaps already makes no sense.

I've noticed there have been a fair portion of these slacktivists who claim that this now means all money spent on EA is now glorifying the people who orchestrated 9/11.

Like nigga, where have you been for the last 24 years? Do they think all relations with Saudi Arabia were just magically made inert until this buyout? What do they think of Pakistan? Of Palestine? Of SNK? Of MW19?

Seems like an odd hill to die on when they never said anything about it before.
 
Yeah I saw some dumb comments about it, saying that it's going to be bad for EA because these private investors only care about money. As if the situation was better when Blackrock and Vanguard were forcing them to pozz their IPs.

This is the end of gay at EA. There is zero chance the studio continues with virtue signaling and DEI shenanigans. Because these strategies do not make money, so there will be a bigger focus on making games now.

I don't know, I think those strategies might get thrown off a roof by people with experience with that already for similar reasons.

Personally, I'm relieved that the default cosmetics in their games will no longer include the gay nigga flag.

There's a lot of seething from The Sims 4 community about this news, since TS4 is way way more rainbow than most of EA's other titles. But then again, since it is reddit, it's hard to hell if those said boycotts will even do anything.

If I was the Saudi owner I would keep The Sims as a containment for all the wine aunts and troons.
 
I also feel sims is too pozzed to really fix in its current state. Other than removing it completely I don’t see how they could fix it
