Rate me dumb, but am I the only one who thinks that this game is a little bit overhyped?
I really want the Battlefield franchise to come back to its former glory, don't get me wrong, but this just isn't it for me.
It's certainly better than the previous 2 dogshit games we got, but it doesn't really seem that special compared to other FPS games, and it doesn't feel like the previous Battlefield games I liked.
This feels more like nu-COD without the gay shit + some Battlefield mechanics sprinkled on top.
you probably think it's overhyped because it's being talked about but from what i can gather the game is alright, it's not like 2042 and isn't trying to be modern COD that much.
I get a feeling that people who keep talking about how great this game is are just doing it to dunk on the modern COD audience (which is fair, tbh.)
partially right, fags gotta fag and the COD7 beta shown that the game is still basically the same shit also helps with that.

How's everyone feeling on the longevity of this one so far? Are you planning on putting Battlefield 4 hours into it?

Im enjoying it immensely and the devs constantly talking to the community about bugs and changes they're making is a huge step up from every battlefield game I've played.

1, V and 2042 all had the devs being silent as the grave when it came to bugs and other issues they were looking at (or ignoring) unless the community trusted their arms.

A good example is them talking about the issues with how weapons feel, they came out and said they're working on a fix for that pretty much the day after it was noticed by the community that shooting felt off.

They would never have done that during launch 2042 or V.

They also gave us a roadmap through to December which is also a huge step up.

All around the main thing that separates this from Halo Infinite for me is specifically the communication from the dev team. 343 communicated up to the release of the game and then went radio silent for months. The BF6 devs so far have been pretty transparent when they're working on issues that need fixing

I think it stands out because every other game on the market right now is some gay ass, overly-stylized, hero shooter. What do you have in terms of plain military shooters that isn't some p2w chinkslop or hyper-"realistic" sims where you die in one shot and get yelled at for not using voice comms.

On a side note, I think the menus are pure ass, really slow to navigate, clearly designed for consoles first and everything is buried under sub-categories.

Easily. This is a great start and barring irreconcilable catastrophe, I can see myself playing it for a long while.

Agreed. The mainstream military themed FPS has withered as a represented setting over the past few years. In 2022 MWII had full domain of that until its Fortniteification. Suddenly Nicki Minaj wearing a pink outfit was an operator, and MWIII only exacerbated that. Diablo 4 characters being in it was what told me they had truly jumped the shark.

I was told of other titles such as The Finals and Delta Force prior to BF6's release. So I looked up The Finals and this is the first picture I get:

Fucking dropped.

So I decide to look up Delta Force's operators and this is the first picture I get:

Also fucking dropped. I don't think I need to post up Rainbow Six: Siege operators to show what they look like nowadays either.

I don't ask for much, I'm burned out on hyper-coloured, goofy arena butt-sliders. BF6 is currently a nice escape from that - it's a little fast and there's female soldiers, but it's an easy pick when your competition offers nothing. If I get fed up with that kind of thing, I'll just hop over to Squad.

To be slightly fair to The Finals, the entire premise is that it's a game show. The cosmetics are supposed to be over the top. Doesn't stop the game from having had catastrophic balance issues dating all the way back to the CBT and persisting until today. I stopped playing it a long time ago.

It's true, but when people offer it as a contemporary to Battlefield due only to scale of destructibility, they don't seem to get that the two are largely incompatible. If they were trying to talk to me about Quake 3 Arena as an alternative to Unreal Tournament, there's enough common ground to invite comparison.

Ehh, who am I kidding? Maybe the times of BF2BC/BF3/BF4 really are long gone, and I'm just getting old.
Nah, that’s fair. If this game released during the golden age of these types of FPS it’d just be viewed as alright (comparable to MW3 in appeal, I guess). It’s just that the loose genre of arcadey-tactical and/or class-based (primarily console) FPS has completely died out (COD dropped it in favor of movement autism, HALO died, TF2 was left to rot and become infested with troons, and as a whole the rest of the FPS industry is just battle royales or hero shooter slop). With context of how AIDs-riddled the FPS scene is I give BF6 an 8.5/10 thus far, but in objective terms a 7.5 or 7 /10 is a more realistic rating (especially if you factor in the dogshit campaign).

i have to admit, that is funny.

he was commenting about the artstyle though.

Reread the first two sentences of my post my man. The cosmetics are by design bright and bombastic as the premise of the game is set inside of a game show. The game has been full of stuff like TV heads, ballerinas, and other borderline lolsorandumb stuff from the start.

Is th SL9 and that one weird sniper a canary in the coal mine that BF6 might introduce more fake and gay fictional guns instead of cool IRL guns due to muh "PrEveNtiNG Gun vIolEnce" like what CoD does now?

I've put a user.cfg that is supposed to help better use my AMD GPU. I think it makes it better.

Yet my frames in a 64 player match will drop to 50s. Even with GPU only being at 50 or 60 % CPU around 60 to 70 %.

With graphics all on mainly low settings.

Anyone have any clue? There's either some bottleneck of a lack of optimization. All the other BF games run really well on my machine. When the games in Domination or other close quater modes I'm getting over 100fps and its smooth.

They look like kitbashed homunculi formed to appease the "we want more" crowd, it's not like they have a shortage of options in real world examples

Is it 70$ type worth it? Probably not

Will the hype die down after 2 weeks to 2 months? Likely yes

Will the playerbase shrink down to 20K-40K? maybe, but crossplay will help pump those numbers up.

I wanted something close to what I felt when I played Bad Company 2 way back in 2010 and I'd say I got it in spades, but it's obviously not perfect.

Was it really necessary for EA/DICE to take this fucking long to make a multiplayer title set in the modern era since BF4 is nearing 12 years old? No, but I'm glad they're learning.

I've been dropping supply packs and 1 click reviving to farm the absurd 5,000 hp challenge. It doesn't even track half the time.
As an update to this, my progress hasn't updated for 2 days despite playing support every other game. I'm genuinely fuming about it. They made these challenges so tedious and like half of them straight up don't fucking work.

New Sobek City is my least favorite map with the drone exploit that allows the defenders to get on the buildings the 1st and 2nd obj on breakthrough, very annoying to play against
