Been playing this game for a while mostly the multiplayer, but I decided to hop onto the campaign for a bit. "Pax Armata" sounds like a name of a faction a 13 year old would write in a Call of Duty fanfiction. That is the most cringe worthy name you could pick for a faction. And the characters will not stop uttering that name so my teeth are gritted every time a character talks.

There's nothing redeeming about the campaign, it was a waste of time to play.
They would save time, money and it would be 10 times more enjoyable if they just made the campaign like Battlefront 2. Missions that are just instant action matches.
Its honestly a miracle that the multiplayer turned out as well as it did, even given all the flaws.

IIRC the campaign was thrown together somewhat last minute. The missions are all disjointed set pieces, some of which are quite cool on their own, but is fucking horrible as a whole campaign. The characters are all complete nothings with each of them being some variation of gruff special ops person. The only one that has potential is Hemlock since he glows in the dark and clearly has some shady shit going on in the background. The story is all over the place, you can't tell when anything is happening. I have no idea what the point of the mission in Egypt was from a narrative perspective. It's also the one of the only times we get to freely control a vehicle in a mission which fucking sucks. I didn't even give a shit when Kincaid stabbed Haz to death. I wasn't even looking at the screen I was just waiting for the cutscene to end like I'd been doing for the last 3 missions. It's like they wanted to emulate the CoD campaigns that people have been enjoying recently but let ChatGPT write the script and just sent it without bothering to look it over.

If more missions had been like Ember Strike where we get these expansive maps that you can attack however you want I wouldn't have minded the nonsensical story. You can steal armored trucks and full send into each SAM site, flank them quietly, snipe them, etc. It's what battlefield works well doing and the rest of the campaign is completely on rails trash.

It doesn't help that you're just dropped into the thick of it either. I've only played the first 3 missions and the first one seemed alright, but it's not a great starter. Being part of the Pax team that executes the Secretary General could've been better, although that would be chronologically after the first mission. Without participating in enough key events that escalate the conflict, it's difficult to be invested in either side.

Would've also been better if you could've chosen between driving or gunning in vehicles and the AI squadmates took over whatever was left. Given that it was haphazardously slapped together by EA Motive, I'm not surprised it didn't end up being very good. I haven't been lectured by any women in it yet though, so that's something.

Yea, I would've really enjoyed a "No Russian" type of mission where you play as a CIA asset embedded into PAX who gets caught up in the whole thing. You don't really learn shit about PAX until the ending cutscene and even then it's just like "wow that's fucking gay and lame". I played through both 3 and 4's campaigns recently and while they're still pretty middling I actually enjoyed them both. Calling it "haphazardously slapped together" is a good way to describe 6's. All in all it's just a huge wasted opportunity to steal some of CoD's single player guys. They already got Zampella to turn the multiplayer into cod-lite they may as well have gone all in.

Quick Engineer hot take. You need to spawn with two of these by default. The Main Battle Tanks in this game have 1,000 health by default. The AV Mine deals around 530ish damage (based on what I've been seeing in-game from using it), and the only time I've gotten a kill with it is on smaller transport vehicles or when I had a support who put down a pack for me to get two of them. You can't put more than two of these down because your oldest one despawns, compared to the AT Mine, where you can put like 9 of them down for some ungodly reason. This thing is just worse than normal land mines in every way. I'd even say it's worse than the SLAM, but I haven't unlocked those yet.

Hate to be that guy, but this game is already falling out of rotation; friends have stopped playing and I've had no desire to start it up. It's not a bad game per se, but there's no meat there. And there's too many little things that need to be fixed or changed.
It needs some big carefully constructed updates if it wants any longevity.

I still have friends logging in every day, and I've played during most of my free time. Escelation is a ton of fun, and it's pretty much what I've been playing nonstop. Most of the issues in the game has are either exploits like the drone shit or minor issues like challenges being bugged/xp not being fast enough. They've already had two minor patches in the last week addressing some of the issues. We're getting the Season 1 trailer tomorrow and Season 1 on the 28th. I don't get how you can say "there isn't any meat here". Have you unlocked everything? Do you just hate the maps? Has a class not clicked with you?

GaaS has really done a number on people's attention spans, if there's not a new hip-hop/movie collab every week the game is dead unc.

Yeah, it's why I wasn't surprised when the peak player count dropped from 700k to 300k. A lot of COD kids came over expecting a new autism shooter and were upset when it didn't fit what they wanted, especially after the movement got nerfed.

I really don't get why the SMGS have such small Magazine sizes. the biggest Mags for most of them is 40 rounds and they cost 25 points. Meanwhile for the Vector and SCW their magazines bigger than 17/15 cost 25 and fucking 45. The P90 has it's default 50 rounds which is great and then the ugly looking SL9 has a 60 round magazine that costs you 55 fucking points to slap on. That thing better be shooting literal gold.

I've found the SCW to probably be the best SMG when used at short to medium ranges overall, even with it's low mag count it still shreds quite well.
Also, if you use M+K, I'd say that the vertical foregrips (on all guns, except maybe the Sniper/DMRs) are borderline useless if you have good recoil control/can burst fire at range. By not using one, I've been able to equip the big magazines and other useful attachments with little-to-no issue (when it comes to using the point system). That said they are helpful if you prefer to hipfire vs just ADSing.
Lastly, on some of the guns, I'd say the same about the compensators/muzzle breaks not doing that much to help control the recoil when using M+K; I've found again using good recoil control I can get similar enough results when using no muzzle attachments (or if you use a flash hider/suppressor to keep yourself off the map/quieter).

Edit: RIP Portal bot grinding for challenges and general gun/rank progression (I got all the weapons and male skins b4 it was nerfed, but still sucks to see some that were working on them). I quite enjoy the bot mode for some of the retarded challenges (ie: 200m+ sniper one); and when needing to take a break from some of the standard multiplayer retardedness (if you got a good team/squad it's fine, but dealing with teammates who constantly die/release early when I'm playing a medic, or when encountering medics who don't revive).
This gun slaps in recon (2 hit kill to the body), and it's probably the best use for someone wanting to snipe and be an agressive sniper (plus I don't think it has scope glint, at least on it's default scope).

I’m considering picking this game up to casually play. How is the cheating situation? Is the anti cheat and price tags actually keeping lobbies clear of faggots? In game bug exploiters are whatever considering they will eventually be patched out.

There's sweats in the game, but I haven't come across as many cheaters given their current anti-cheat methods; however in game bugs (such as the recon drone glitch), haven't been fixed as fast as they should be. Also, some of the lock-on's are bugged being able to hit air vehicles, even when they have flared an incoming missile.

Also, related to ur username, I have a 5090 :p

As far as BF titles go, this is pretty solid release and a good base for EA to improve the game. There'll be plenty of fixes and significant changes to come, just as there have been with previous BF titles. There are a lot of COD players coming over and expecting it to be some COD killer, but getting frustrated it's not all about running and gunning. I've been playing a fair bit of Breakthrough, and it's quite frustrating as a defender seeing the attackers not employ basic tactics such as smoking defender lines of sight and flanking - they'll just charge straight into the sights of the defenders like lemmings. Even playing the smaller more deathmatch like modes, such as Domination and King of the Hill, if I piss bolt straight into combat I'll get cleaned up over and over by players with superior aim and reflexes to me. But I can easily turn the tables by slowing down and flanking.

Seems like the anticheat is working really well so far. The other day, there were some screenshots from some cheating forum with posters seething over cheats being detected and having multiple accounts banned. It included a listing of which cheats were being detected and which ones weren't. Only one was listed as working, but apparently that was BS and in fact it was being detected. Think there was something else about cheats providers pulling their BF6 cheats because they weren't working.

Every map plays the same, they're too small, just meat grinders that lack the dynamic gameplay that Battlefield has been known for.
The unlock system, classes, vehicles, gadgets, etc. all combine to make for some very stale gameplay where teamwork and cooperation isn't rewarded as much in the past.
To put it simply; it's boring and lacks depth.

As for some other posters suggestion that I'm some CoD/GasS fag; I resent that. I haven't played CoD in 15+ years and do not play GaaS shit. It's ironic too, because this game is the closest it's ever been to CoD, and the entire release schedule is designed to drip feed content like a GaaS game.

I put 1000+ hours into BF4 and consider it to be one of the best multiplayer games ever released. The reason I kept going back to it was because every match was fresh, I was seeing new things right up until I stopped playing. However I feel like I've already seen everything in BF6. Yeah, it looks pretty, it has all the "essentials", but underneath it all it's shallow. You can disagree, but ask yourself in 6 months if I was right.

I think they nerfed them since i was able to get kills with those mines in the beta.

I'll let you know. Currently I think the game is doing fine as long as it can provide steady content along with fixes. Content drought and actual game-breaking bugs are the real determining factor here. So far they've hinted at adding naval combat, the Little Bird and platoon back into the mix, so if these can be included in a timely fashion along with some more large maps to accommodate them (and maybe some remastered classics), I'd be happy.

The Battlefields I spent the most time on were Bad Company 2 and BF3, and 6 reminds me a lot of both of them. I stopped playing BF1 before its first major DLC probably due to very slow content and lootboxes, and while BF4 was fun I think I dropped it after its first content update. To be fair, I think there were a lot more appealing alternatives and genre competition to BF4 back then, whereas now there's a lot less on offer for me.

I don't even know how that could work with the current sandbox. Gone are the days of BF1942 where you spawned with player controlled destroyers and submarines.
I stopped playing BF1 too, I also thought that game was shallow. It was technically impressive and I enjoyed some of the conquest maps, but it was very similar to the current state of BF6.

My opinion is BF4 > Vietnam > 1942 > BC2 > BF3 > BF1 > BFH > BC1 > BFMC
Currently I think BF6 is hovering around BF1/Hardline.

(Played very little of BF2 and 2142 because they came during a busy time in my life, so I hesitate to rate them, and I avoided BFV and 2042)
