For me the most frustrating aspect of the game right now is the weapon balance and netcode. I'm constantly getting killed around corners and smgs in particular are fucking heinous. They outperform every single weapon class at the typical ranges the maps are built around. You can get instantly beamed by an MP5 user sitting on a roof at 60 meters and not even have enough time to react because he has 0 aim cone. Half the guns feel like battlefield guns and the rest feel like call of duty laser beams. That combined with getting smoked around corners and watching my tracers fly into a dude and not register is really killing my desire to play the game.

Yeah SMGS need to be touched up. They're a bit to strong outside their intended range. Which ironically has been a problem in at least 2042 and V from what I remember

I don't even know how that could work with the current sandbox. Gone are the days of BF1942 where you spawned with player controlled destroyers and submarines.

I'm going to assume patrol boats, gunboats, and maybe some amphibious vehicles. If they reboot Gulf of Oman or Noshahr Canals again, perhaps an aircraft carrier spawn for NATO. It might dictate the flow of gameplay on newer maps if there's a large enough body of water, but it evidently won't do match for the existing ones and their lack of water.

I stopped playing BF1 too, I also thought that game was shallow. It was technically impressive and I enjoyed some of the conquest maps, but it was very similar to the current state of BF6.

As I said before, part of BF1's problem for me was the lack of consistent updates at the start. It took several months for them to include ribbons, which seemed like such a no-brainer I was puzzled they were absent in the first place. BF6 has those CoD-style accolades tied to dog tags so there's at least something, though I wish it did the thing BC2 had where it showed all the gamertags of the people you acquired dog tags from, not just the most recent.

My opinion is BF4 > Vietnam > 1942 > BC2 > BF3 > BF1 > BFH > BC1 > BFMC
Currently I think BF6 is hovering around BF1/Hardline.

(Played very little of BF2 and 2142 because they came during a busy time in my life, so I hesitate to rate them, and I avoided BFV and 2042)

It's hard for me to rate them nowadays due to my opinions. I avoided BF2 partly out of principle - having such a limited-scope bot mode and weapons that only unlocked in online multiplayer really flew in the face of what I loved about BF: Vietnam. Likewise BF4 came out after what I thought was pretty quick turnaround from BF3, and DICE had made clear their intent to release Battlefields more frequently to compete with CoD at the time, which I felt wasn't necessary. This along with the controls feeling different and lootboxes generally made it less enjoyable to play and quicker to drop, though I'm sure my opinion of it now would be higher.

I guess on the whole of it, I'd call BFV the worst. Not technically, but because DICE were so full of themselves they killed an easy WW2 slam dunk with their political tripe, and I take particular offence when it's made against the soldiers of WW2.

We already see them constantly posting updates on what they're working on on Twitter, and we also know that we're getting three big updates from October to December, with 3 maps in each update as well as new guns in each update so

I think you mean 3 maps per season - Season 1 spans 3 incremental updates from October to December, though their announcement describes it as just one update.

Don't get me wrong, I think they've done a phenomenal job of turning around the franchise post-2042, and they've been going from strength to strength thus far. I just remain cautious that they could easily fuck it up, as they have in the past, so I keep that in mind while everything's gravy. It doesn't take much for devs to decide they're better than you and flip the switch to 'FAIL' in this day and age.

This is incredibly fair. I'm enjoying the game but even then I'll still be a bit judgemental of their major patches. They need to have substantial changes or at least cover problems the community is concerned about in a rapid pace. Which at least for some issues they have been, we'll see how their patch cycle is.

"we're keeping the skins 'grounded' for a while"
Yea, sure thing, DICE. Almost all of these look like complete shit and PAX in particular is completely fucked. I knew better than to trust 2042 devs.

I'm really not impressed with that Battlefield to be honest, it's like it took everything annoying since 4, and packaged it into a single game. You get laughably mediocre (and small) map designs, overtuned vehicles, retarded grind and "movement player" bullshit. Outside of legacy UI elements that reminds me I'm playing Battlefield, It feels like a version of Delta Force that hasn't been fagged up yet.

It's still fun with friends, but it's barely two steps above 2042 in my opinion. I'm surprised this thread is only just growing out of its honeymoon phase over the game.

Most of them look fine? The only ones that don't look all that great are the like 5 colorful ones on the bottom

overtuned vehicles, retarded grind and "movement player" bullshit
See I keep seeing people saying the vehicles are weak and need to be buffed. If anything they need to remove the auto heal ability the tanks have and give the engineers one more rocket on spawn. If I had 4 RPG shots I could probably kill a tank on my own. A tank has 1000 health and I'm doing about 300 damage if I hit said tank in the back or side.

As for the grind, it's really not that bad. The missions are bugged and annoying but I've just been doing the ones I want, mainly the engineer mastery ones. Weapons level up quickly till level 20 too which is fine.

The movement stuff is overblown and I haven't really had to many issues with people abusing movement in the game, my main complaint is people using helicopters and recon drones to get ontop of buildings they shouldn't be able to get on.

Other than that the game is a marked improvement on 2042. Yes the maps are small and that is something they need to fix, I don't disagree with that. But this is also them overreacting to 2042s maps where they were "so big they felt empty" which was a very common complaint in the game, especially since most players ditched the 128 played conquests because of server instability.

Proportionally to what you're getting 2/3rds of the time, I don't find the grind worthwhile, really. One example that stung the most for me was the one for the guided launcher. Not only were you stuck doing bullshit that forced you to play like a complete retard, you also did it for the worst launcher ever made in a battlefield game.

See if you can tell which part got me posting here in this video:

Which leads me to tanks, which become invincible slabs of diamond as soon as more than two engies stack repairs behind it. The only complaints I heard over vehicles being weak were from terrible air pilots and overextending solo players who constantly die to AT mines. I agree it wouldn't have been so bad if we were allowed to spawn with a full kit as engi, but since vehicle mains would complain like trannies if they actually were facing infantry in a battlefield game, I don't see that happening. Enjoy ammo boxes, stalker child.

Movement-wise, people are starting to figure out things. It's not the bhop bullshit you used to see during the beta, but there's a clear meta around hipfire builds that leads people to clear out corners at mach 3 with next to no penalties. You've posted a great example some pages ago, too:
Someone realizing that the .44 Magnum doesn't one shot to the head.
W3gDPjs837quWf8o.mp4
It's not impossible to counter, yes, but I'm not out to play COD either. It's annoying to deal with.

At the moment the skins are plausible (maybe not for the military but I’ve seen gangs and militias dressed in tacticool garbage), though I’m sure in due time they’ll slippery slope to increasingly clownish get-ups. c'est la vie I suppose (at least we’re far from the absolute state of COD’s cosmetics).

I like the frogman soldier, the rest can kick rocks

This dude fucks too, though. Gives off some BC2 vibes. I just wish he had gloves. The grey engineer fourth from the left and the gas mask assualt second from the left would both also be very good if they were in real colors instead of a shitty urban and neon junk. I also know that grey/orange support will glow like a motherfucker in game since the current skins in the same color already do it. The recon one is fluorescent under in game lighting.
