Battlefield Studios is extending Season 1 to fine-tune Season 2 based on community feedback.

Season 1 Schedule • Jan 20 – Season 1 Extension update•
Jan 27 – New Bonus Path•
Feb 16 – Season 1 ends•
Feb 17 – Season 2 begins

So its looking like another battlefiled 1 situation

1. get a huge boost due to COD under delivering

2. fail to retain a healthy people playerbase.

GTA 6 is going to fucking rape this game's numbers if it even lasts that long.

Good job, EA. You get what you fucking deserve.


Evil Peter Griffin mentioned on the 23rd of dec it was 100K in terms of the 24-hour peak and now it's 71K.

At least BF1 in itself was pretty good and it's DLCs were also good too, but BFV burned all that goodwill the moment the first trailer dropped and only gained a bit of it back thanks to final big update that added the Pacific front. This managed to burn all the goodwill it had at release by itself thanks to drip-feeding updates at a snail's pace and by backdooring in every shitty live service practice shorty after.

Doom and gloom aside, isn't that typical for Battlefield? I do know that the battle royale, RedSec is dwindling in player counts.
 
Blog update from the BF6 team

One of the new maps is Contaminated.
While we’re saving full details on the new map for a later time, we can share that in terms of size, Contaminated falls between Eastwood and Mirak Valley, and is comparable to classic Battlefield maps such as St. Quentin Scar (Battlefield 1) or Arras (Battlefield V).

They're also remaking Golmud Railway for a future season and will be testing it early in Battlefield Labs.
 
If they're to have any hope of salvaging their hemorrhaging player base due to them siphoning off all of their goodwill in record time, the new map will need to be an all timer, and even then I'm not sure they can dig themselves out of the hole they willingly dug and jumped head first into. I'd say this fumble will need to be studied in the future but we already know how they got here. The worst part about this game is the gameplay is fucking great, but the maps overall have been horrific and there are so many other things surrounding the game that are dragging it down like a pair of cement shoes. And this drip feed approach is great in theory, but that's when you keep your audience engaged to begin with. At this point new maps are just hail mary's to bring in a few more whales to the shop.

They really need to fix a lot of the exploits like the roof campers. Hell those should have been fixed week one.
 
Apparently the trailer for Season 2 leaked earlier today.

If it's to be believed we're pretty much only getting two maps for the season and one of them is a medium map with no jets


 
If these maps still don't have boats from the BR mode or at least small streams to use them in, then I don't know what they're doing.

Only two maps per season is disappointing. They really need to ramp it up to four maps to keep things fresh.

Now they just use helicopters to get to the areas. Some areas were fixed but there are still buildings you can get on top of in the Manhattan map as an example

They were 30hz

Update to Verified and Official Portal Servers

Verified and official Portal servers have been increased from 30Hz to 60Hz, resulting in smoother and more responsive gameplay.
This upgrade followed backend improvements and stability testing, allowing us to safely move Portal verified experiences to 60Hz.
