Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

  • Free Worlders hate cyborgs.
Minor correction: Free Worlders hate other Free Worlders. That place is considered one giant civil war for a reason. Regulans hate those from Oriente who hate those from Andurien, and etc.
I never understood how the battletech setting had a weeb like myself hate both Asian factions. Those two groups are such dumpster fires.
Because the Dracs are actively anti-weeb due to being HONABRU SAMURAI and the Cappies are the worst parts of ChiComs and the USSR combined. Their glowie agency is named the Maskirovka after all, which is a very, very Russian term. The real weeb faction are the Canopians, who have made catgirls real.

Without diving too deep into minute/obscure pieces of Battletech lore, "everyone" was pretty well represented already without HBS trying to cram every ethnicity but white into 1 ship.
  • Lyran Commonwealth: German, Irish, Scottish, Pakistani.
  • Draconis Combine: Japanese, Swedish
  • Azami Worlds: North African Muslims.
  • Federated Suns: English, French
  • United Hindu Collective: Indian.
  • Taurian Concordat: English, Spanish, French.
  • Capellan Confedeastion: Chinese, Russian, SCUM!
  • Magistracy of Canopus: Cultural melting pot where everyone looks ambiguously ethnic-ish
  • Free Worlds League: Literally everyone the other states didn't want.
  • Southwest Trinity Worlds: Dpace New Mexicans.
  • Nueva Castille: Spaniards.
  • Umayyad Caliphate: Umayyad Caliphate...in space.
  • Khwarazm Empire: Space Persians?
The only persistant forms of discrimination are:
  • Lyrans hate poor people.
  • Dracs hate those who lack honor.
  • Free Worlders hate cyborgs.
  • Canopians "hate" men.
  • Everyone hates Capellans.
  • Comstar fucks toasters. My cousin heard it from his bestfriends sisters brother in-law, so it's pretty reliable.

I think it's also important to mention that this is not so much about genetical heritage and ethnicity and more about culture. A black guy can be a Kuritan Samurai, like Minobu Tetsuhara:

Look, we conquered the Anduriens fair and square, the dumbasses keep wanting to go back to the Cappies. You can't let dangerous retards like that loose with actual weapons or sharp objects. I know a Leaguer who was all Marik-Stewart Commonwealth and I liked to remind him that the best Marik Captain-General hung out in Orient and wasn't actually Marik. The salt was real.

This is actually highly amusing, since the Dracs weren't started by ethnic Japanese, but once upon a time the family that took over as coordinators were basically weebs who enforced that whole bushido shit on everyone else. I think the original family were the Von Rohrs.

The Canopians are massive degenerates though, they even have Wicca as a major religion.

I can't directly quote you for whatever reason, @More AWS-8Q Than You , so a mention will have to do. You really do need to make sure retards like that aren't allowed to make any decisions on their own if they want to take orders from the fucking Liaos.

Just looked it up, and it was originally the Kuritans, but then after an untimely death of the number 2 in line the number 3 person, one Nihongi von Rohrs, the illegitimate child of Marika Kurita and the stable hand she was fucking, Werner von Rohrs, decides to take the throne for himself.

Real Game of Thrones shit where the Coordinator's sister has him whacked because he personally beat her illegitimate and lower-class lover to death with a shovel, and then after the assassination said bastard then decides to kill the new Coordinator, his uncle and the Coordinator's brother and take the throne for himself. He also sells his aunt and mother's sister into slavery where she is then hunted down for sport, but she probably had it coming.

As to the complete weeabooification of the Combine, that's done by the second Urizen Kurita, following the legacy of his namesake. That said, the Kuritans themselves were always quite Japanese in their ways, starting with Shiro Kurita, an ugly bastard in both looks and manner, and got their start as rulers by taking down the Ozawa Mercantile Association, which I would consider quite Japanese itself given the name.

Kuritan approach towards unpleasant history 101: "What unpleasant history?"

Also now 100% less watermark... maybe I should get around and attempt photoshop hungaro-austrian clothes on Willie...

I see the broken reply stuff is spreading. I honestly forgot about the Kuritan first time around in the Combine. I do remember the salt about it dooming a perfectly good mech because it had the wrong name. Admittedly, the Snakes are my least favorite faction, mostly for LARPing as the worst aspects of Japanese culture. Kentares was bad, but at least they had a reason. The shit they did to Clan Lost Cause and their civilians is rough even by Battletech standards. As long as they bring Nova Cats, they're more than welcome in the League, in my opinion.

It's not like one more team in the National Sport of Civil War is unwelcome and I think we have to replace the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth anyways. The Clan Authorial Fiat shit all over them, didn't they?

Currently unknown, but they got Hesperus and probably pushed them to the edge of the sphere.

I just saw the 3151 map on Sarna.net. The Wolves take Hesperus? And they have Kalidasa too. What's next, Irian? Just give them all the industry. I hate Fiat. How the hell are the League and the Lyrans supposed to shoot at each other if Alaric's Whelps are in the way and take all our toy makers?

The Wolves had Kalidasa since they broke with the Commonwealth during Hammerfall. They already held a good chunk of the Lyran and League (more League then Lyran) industrial base. But they took Hesperus AGAIN??? You might think the Lyrans would fortify that planet after Operation "Kick Falcons and Wolves in their collective ass". Trillian seems to be a hopöess cause as Archon. At least the FedSuns eem to somehow hold together

I’m guessing based off of the 3250 stuff we have. Hesperus is without a doubt going to be a primary target of the new “star league”.

So, according to a post made by Catalyst Game Labs, they sold 2.8 million plastic miniatures over the past 2 years. The Clan Box and Game of Armored Combat Box sold 40k each. CGL is currently selling more stuff within 2 years than BT has had over the 15 years prior to that.
The amount of stuff being released and re-released is the most stuff BT has ever had to offer and there is still a couple of waves scheduled to come out and siphon money off my bank account.

All in all, good times to be a BT fan I guess.

Is there a good place to find some audiobook torrents, can't find anything online.
Audiobooks? No idea. I know Razorfist did a couple readings on his youtube channel and I'm extremely surprised they haven't been taken down yet.

I've seen Battletech audio books on YouTube outside of Razorfist too, but they're usually short stories instead of full novels. Hell, George Ledoux has some following the battles of Duncan Fisher on his own channel.

I have come forward to ask a very heretical question:

The 2D6 are easily replaced with a D12. Any experience with that? Yay or nay?

Here's a comparison of probability curves:
dicey.png

Assuming a Gunnery of 4, minor penalties for movement for target and shooter and medium range, you end up at a to-hit value of 8, which is incidently where both D12 and 2D6 have a chance of 41,67% for rolling that number or higher.
The chance of rolling a 12 is 2,78% with 2D6 and 8,33% with a D12, so it's easier to get a hit even at higher to-hit numbers, while the 2D6 heavily favors numbers between 5 and 8, making hits at a to-hit above 8 harder and harder with every additional penalty.

I feel high to-hit numbers feel somewhat too hard to roll, so I was wondering if switching dice out for a single D12 would do the trick. Would also streamline shooting phases, since you can then literally just throw a fistful of color-coded D12 and sort them by result...

I'm fine with 2D6 for hit locations, though. Crits and Headshots should be rare.
