Doesn't the US army do that too?
Yes. There is if I recall a very fringe movement to have a great deal of US forts named after Confederate soldiers renamed. Unlike the statue thing, that hasn't gained any traction.

Any particular changes to the list that you’d recommend?
Dire Wolf, Archer, and the Mist Lynx at skill 3, Timber wolf at skill 4. Two stars of Elementals at skill 2, that will put you at 248 points. You use the Lynx and the Timber as buses for the Elementals, unload at close range and have the Elementals rip up the mechs. You use the Archer for support, and throw the Dire Wolf up the gullet. But I don't play clans, so you'll have to read up on the rules to make sure everything is above board.

In general, don't worry to much about BT lists. It's not competitive. Build a list you like, ideally it has some fluff and lore behind it, and go shoot dice.

Thank you. Which elementals did you use? There are an astonishing number of them on MUL.

I don’t imagine the local group’ll care much. The Wolf’s Dragoons box came with a timber wolf, so I can probably claim that the mist lynx is salvage/isorla and that the elementals left with them because Alaric is kind of a dick.

Try the US as a whole. I don't think Lee or Washington would mind this too much. Also, if anyone wants to bitch about Space Confederates, they clearly need to stop playing anything to do with Starcraft given that the Space Rednecks of the Terran Confederacy flew a version of the Stars and Bars. That out of the way, I'm horribly offended that someone in the Star League Navy would name a Texas-class battleship the Prinz Eugen. I know damn well anyone on board USS Texas, BB-35, would consider it charming to be compared to the small little Prinz Eugen the Austrians launched.

Back to the topic on hand I see plenty of times where old history is being used for this setting. Fucking the Kuritans base their whole philosphy on old Imperial Japan.

Wrong Prinz Eugen. But yes, singling out American stuff as bad when there's the Combine, Lyrans, and even Tolkien is a bit ridiculous. Unsurprisingly, the Numenor System is populated by condescending dickbags. Just like Numenor itself was.

And here's the planetary flag of Oriente:

Talk about cultural appropriation.

Maybe they are using the "Back 4 Blood" version of "From the creators of...."

Edit: Also "Who" from BT/SR was behind creating this game?

Also this just looks like Flying Battletech even down to the lore/Maps. Just looks lazy.

The only person I know who has heavy ties into the foundation of Battletech is William H Keith but thats it.

Didn't Blaine said he helped in Leviathans?

No this looks to be a relaunch/edition update essentially from their 2012 game. It has 2 ex Battletech sourcebook authors on it.

Randall N. Bills started working at FASA in 1996 and writing sourcebooks in 1997.
John Haward started writing sourcebooks in 2011.

Battletech and Shadowrun predate these two sooo yea guess CGL is trying to take credit for creating both games now.

Also here is a link to the BGG for Leviathans, which is what they called it back in 2012. Even uses the D12 system and sheets for the ships.

The only other person who has a significant Battletech presence is Not Entirely Anon on 4Chan. He's been pushing for the game a lot.

Looks like Sails of Glory on a hex-map.

Edit:
Fuck me. The new Mercenary Box will contain a Devastator. Also the new Highlander in the Northwind Highlanders Lance Pack has a tiny crushed Urbanmech as part of its base design.
And there's photos of a few Battle Armor troops and a Madcat and a Marauder . . . in 28mm scale. Apparently, there's a product in developement, possibly some Warhammer 40k or Kill Team knockoff.
CGL might be crap with how they do business, but I'd be lying if I said these boxes aren't really fucking tempting.

As nice as it is, fuck 'em.

Speaking of the Devastator, I need to check the two print files I have for them. Fairly certain the ones I have are for the standard DVS-2. Might make a good addition to my Lyran based group while my Taurian one rocks the DVS-1 and it's AC/10s

I'd like to take a look at that DVS-2, it's one of my favorite mechs.

Edit: Up till now, I only looked at Thingiverse for Mech stl files. I checked out MyMiniFactory just now and holy shit. Holy Shit.
Thingiverse has a lot of designs to offer, but not nearly as many as MMF and none of them are as nice as what you will find on MMF.

Edit 2:
They even got the best Model of the Archer.

Edit 3:
They got a DVS-1 if you need it, Stevie.

So couple of posts on the chans I wanted to share. First One is this.

I've had serious personal and professional disagreements with the management of CGL over the years. Now, one person boycotting them doesn't hurt companies.
You'd be amazed at the amount of damage you can do with other people's laziness.
Now I hand out $5 thumb drives with MegaMek and as much BT material will fit on them to every newbie who shows up at the LGS. I've taught people interested in the new plastics how to recast and hooked many more up with the info for 3D Printing and alternative minis companies. Normalizing piracy and alternative minis sources to the point that the regional demo agents are having to use them to loop in new people.
It's not like Catalyst has produced anything of value since they ran off three Line Developers in a row and ruined one's marriage by refusing to pay them. Not to mention stealing thousands upon thousands of dollars from the writers and artists who actually create the universe and the fans who promote it by reneging on contracts, stealing miniatures from them at conventions, and good old-fashioned wage theft. But hey, it's all good as long as the CEOs can pay rent on their McMansions, right?
Fuck.
You.

Followed by this one.

On multiple occasions, someone senior at Catalyst has been caught attempting to steal miniatures and dioramas from conventions while the owners were eating lunch or otherwise out of the hall on the last day of the con. In general any cool stuff you bring has a much higher chance of mysteriously disappearing on the last day. This is particularly prevalent at Gen Con. Three different guys from my own BattleTech group have caught them in the act of "accidentally" repacking our minis into their boxes right after the owner left the room. Once at Gen Con, twice at a major regional convention. We now have a babysitter whose sole job on the last day is to keep an eye on Randall and Loren when we're playing games at the con, and set up a shift rotation to make sure someone always has eyes on our stuff. Any more details would doxx me. Although I suspect we're not the only group who has something like this going on at this point. They also rarely if ever provided comped minis to the official demo teams, so anyone who wasn't within spitting range of IWM* potentially got screwed hard on whatever they needed to bring in for con games. Not sure what the current policy is. I suspect they genuinely believe they deserve to just take it because
>muh creator
Which would explain some other things as well.

That went through my mind when the whole CGL/Pardoe fiasco went down as well. Just show up at your LGS with a thumbdrive of STL files... or a few neatly painted 3D print mechs (to spark people's interest) and a shoebox full of "leftovers" and "test prints" to hand out.

>Oh, you like this Marauder? Thank you! Wanna try painting one yourself? I've got a few I printed, you might wanna give it a shot? Never mind, I don't need those anyway.
>Man yeah, shitsucks that CGL is way behind their shipping schedule, it will take months until the Urban Lance is back in stock... wait a minute, you want the Victor, look what I got here!
>Nah man, it's cool, I usually print several copies of the same mech in one go, just in case something goes awry, so I have a lot of them to spare. Help yourself.

You'll be the coolest kid in town and ten bucks of resin will easily gimp CGL out of sales in the tripple digits. Seriously, a litre of resin is like 25 bucks and you can print a shitload of Mechs with that amount.

But what is this of CGL stealing minis at conventions? Is this them stealing nice-looking minis cause they are magpies in human form or do they steal them for a purpose other than being dicks? I don't get this at all. If they steal dioramas and minis, do they put them on display to brag? What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Meanwhile, if you tried to do that with 40K you'd need at least three liters of resin and $200 in Citadel™ Contrast Paints in order to give someone a starting force. Battletech chads win again.
