So far I heard of the other mech packs but yet didn't hear more about the Mercenaries set.
So the Mercenaries Starter has a couple that comes with new Battlemechs and then each we got several Force Packs that are exclusively Vehicles.

Here is what we are getting

Catalyst Games Labs even released the video on their Xitter showing the factory in China where the vehicle models are made.

Trying to figure out why, other than "See? We're doing it!"

That is another company all together. They've released videos of other games being packed and being prepped for shipment.

Honestly its still a cool insight on how things get made.

Wasn't there some real backlash about using Chinese slave labor to make the YLW mini a few months back?

Participated in the most recent Catalyst event on the clan side. I’d never realized just how dangerous elementals were until I rolled 3 crits on 1 mech from 1 shot, and it never came up before that they have a 33% chance of acting as armor for whomever they’re riding.

I love using toads with my Ghost Bears. They usually don't do much, but when they do the memes flow.

The best part about Elementals is that a point of them on a Fire Moth gives the 'Mech about 350% potential armor. Sure, 33% of the time it works all the time but man is it funny when that Gauss Rifle that should have turned the Light Omni you brought in as a battle taxi inside out only disintegrates a single unfortunate meathead and leaves the 'Mech unscathed and available to zoom around and deliver a bag of angry armored gorillas right in the face of the enemy's lurm boat the following turn.

It did piss us off the first time someone figured out you can just use a point of Elementals as cheap armor for a Dasher and not even deploy them, just have them on the Mech and stay there the whole game.

The best BA in my opinion is the Corona base model, just because of five CMPLs is something that is always going to get your attention.

Or you put them on workhorses you know are going to get into medium range, skill them up because they’re cheap as fuck even when tricked out, and get at least one potentially debilitating crit while the opponent has to consider diverting fire to make the problem go away.

The Corona is a mean bastard of a BA and the one time I decided to deploy a whole Star of them perched in some woods in the middle of the map they did an ungodly amount of damage, but I'll always have a soft spot for Elementals. Since I bring BA more for the chaos (and the swarm attacks) rather than the guns, I'm fine with the SLs and SRMs.

I don't usually bring a whole lot of Omnis since my Ghost Bear Binary/Trinary (one medium, one heavy, one assault Star) is themed as a second line unit that keeps getting thrown into the meat grinder. But for every Omni I have on the list, I bring a point of Elementals as a matter of principle. I paid for those handles, and I'm gonna use them, God damn it. The only reason I don't call it a Supernova formation is because I usually bring at most a star of Elementals.

One of the funniest moments I had with Elementals was when my opponent got his Axman into melee range of my Dire Wolf, smacked it with the AC/20, took a swing and started acting all smug when he managed to destroy my 'Mech's left arm... only to go "oh crap" when the three surviving toads riding on the Dire Wolf hopped over the next turn and got a crit right into the cockpit. We fluffed it as the Elementals wrenching the cockpit open and just throwing the MechWarrior overboard. It was awesome.

For what little it’s worth I play Alpha Strike, not classic.

Holy shit. I just realized that for all my proselytizing of Alpha Strike I just plum forgot to use any BA in any games I played.

Man, do I feel fucking silly now. Time to rejigger my AS lists to add some toads for fun and profit.

One of my favorite things about the Field Manual series was everyone (except the Periphery and Mercs) got new BA so we finally had more that just Toads and IS knock offs.

If you like toads you’ll love gnomes. I have a star of each I use in larger point AS games and they’re a lot of fun to field and play.

IS purists always like to act smug until the toads jump off the omnimech. I had one try to go in with a firestarter to burn up the last 2 points of toads I had, so I swept in with a nearby fire moth carrying a point of gnome armor and lit him up.

So for the past few hours there's been a huge argument spilling into the /BTG/ on the chans with Valk who recently got published on Shrapnel.

Valk for those who don't know is a trans woman who regulary used EBT but left after the whole drama with David and Catalyst. He would go on to assist with the Pride Anthology that caused enough drama to have the old mod for R/Battletech to come back and oust all the old mods and install Valk as one of the mods. He also just recently got a story published in the recent Shrapnel #15. They also go by Robin Briseno.

Anytime I see anything battletech related that also involves troons there’s this handful of people that always come up and it’s always the same shit every time. CGL loves the troons because they’ll buy every product, which is a huge part of why I’m not surprised by going to their profiles and seeing that ironwind miniatures follows them. That seems to be why any game company bothers to cater to them or do anything with them.

Heya fellas, I have the Battletech turn based game in my library but I've never played it. Is there a way to replace the npc pilot's portraits? I want to add the Starsector portraits for all of them.

Also I've been playing Mechwarrior 5 and enjoying it so far. Is it worth it to get into the Battletech lore? I'm an enormous fan of 40k's lore so I feel like this will be right up my alley.

I think you can do so with the BattleTech Save Editor, but you'll need another mod like Commander Portrait Loader to get whatever custom images you want to be read by the game. I haven't messed around with it much, but I just remember the option being listed.

Battletech does have a deeper lore, so go for it. Sarna is a great source of info, but it's sadly run by a bunch of faggots.
