Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

So there's... this:
off-brand bt.png

This is the guy who (co-)wrote Book of Eli, Rogue One and... well... After Earth... So I am not too enthusiastic about this, but then again, the guy who wrote Chernboyl wrote Hangover 2 and Chernobyl turned out great.

This doesn't look like it's really BT, but if its big stompy robots, I won't mind.

I've tried a few and frankly when it comes to edge work like on molding and shit I'm really good I can paint walls and shit fine, I have good motor skills but minis are just something that I suck at and I rather support my friend because it's something I also found no joy in.

That sounds cool as fuck don't forget to post when done. After trying a few I really really like seeing people do good work and all esp since can appreciate the time and skill it takes.

Speaking of minis I have a new bush wacker in need of paint and already have a 1st SS (yes .. I like the cartoon) one but thinking another unit to paint it. I think it would look pretty snappy in FWL and could head canon salvage.
Yeah, when painting minis is a chore, it's better left to people who enjoy it. I've had a couple of different hobbies in my time, some consisting of very time-consuming preparation-work which I always saw as part of the entire hobby to be enjoyed, rather than the annoying busywork I need to put in before I can get to the fun bits (usually it involved friends, beer and a lot of trashtalking while we work so that really helped).

Painting minis can be stressful and frustrating, so no need in fussing over it.

I'll post images when the Karnov is done.

So if you folks haven't been paying attention the twitter accounts for MW5 and MWO have been posting little snippets. From the looks of it MWO is getting a Crusader and MW5 is getting a Hatchetman.
I love the Crusader but that thing was obsolete by the time Clans rolled around. They should have included it in the Phoenix pack.

So Melee is finally coming to MWO? The Clan mechs have to actually worry about STD's when they are humping IS mechs now.

Crusaders where still put into play. I love the design of em and I can't wait.

I dont think the Hatchetman is coming to MWO nor are they implanting melee combat for the game.

Well yeah they were, they had to be. I'm just saying that right now MWO wise is stupid for it, the time to release it was years ago with the Phoenix pack.

SHHHHH I want my fist missile launchers.
Leg launchers no one cares about your lurm fists!!

The crud is fucking AWFUL good, I don't play a lot of MWO but after the Dervish got dropped, only the crud could out do it in shit mechs I kinda love.

Also if you are old like myself, and remember the Crescent hawks revenge, those cruds were SAVAGE.

I imagine the Crusader in MWO will just be played as a lighter Zeus.

Eh, Zeus has weight in either energy or a gun. It's a 4/6/4 65 tonner. (64khp with jump jets in MWO) It's going to be a fat Dervish imho, or a better hit box Catapult.
If only it gets a quirk to blow up non stop.

Jokes aside the way MWO is laid out, cruds will be REALLY good, throw lurms till you close brawl with MLs and SRMs then close in rip apart open mechs with the MGS.

On TT your range brackets overlap and heats an issue, MWO really how it plays you can skirt it and if you keep your finger off the shoot button. I think it's gonna be hot, I dunno I'm far a MWO pro tho.

Also like anything quirks will matter.

VSD's personal minder, Galen Cox, used a Crusader. IIRC he was surprisingly good brawling with it against the Clans.

Not gonna lie, I'm surprised the Crusader doesn't have the Battlefists perk. Damn near every illustration makes it look like it could really slap a bitch around.

Eh, on TT it should get accurate weapon being a big LRM arm mount -1 rolls. For MW5 melee a bonus? But also same time it's got these lunking launchers vs a proper fist? Now that could be spicy a + to hit but damage to internals and risk launcher.

Yeah and it's an awesome mech, one of my favorites out of the original Batlletech 2nd Edition. I'm just saying it's obsolete technologically in that 3050 onwards period. Ever notice how in the lore, after the Clan Invasion you almost never see the original TRO mechs unless it's an Atlas or iconic mech like Morgan Kell's Archer, etc?

Eh, look what Gray Noton did. Lore doesn't have to make sense.

There's a few neat variants that got whipped up, including some with JJ. Its one of the few 'Mechs I've seen use an XL Gyro, to be honest.

One of the guys in my BT group sent me this link:

Long story short, that's an absurdly thorough fan project with a ton of custom art by official BattleTech artists. I've only skimmed it so far since it's over five hundred fucking pages, and while the writing looks solid enough it definitely suffers from the typical fan work issue of "everything is great!", there are no real lemons among the designs featured, and the characters are all highly competent. I wouldn't go so far as call it Mary-Sue-ish, but it does have some moments where you end up wondering why won't this company ever do anything wrong.

Definitely a shining example of effort, though. This was no weekend project, these guys put in a ton of work.
