I don't get it either and I am a oft poster of /btg/. But they are mostly FWL fags so aside awesome spam fuck em.

Jokes aside I've said before it's imho the best place to talk BT. In fact why I am posting is related to that, the other day someone dropped a DOPE axman build. Heavy Gauss, PPC and kept the god damned hatchet. I ran it on my TT night it was so stupid and so fun. Still 4/6/4 and we played a mostly urban setting. So this bad mother fucker just came up dumped 25 points of RAPE on your back and then swung. I one turned a Lao Hu and giggled the entire time.

IS XLs needless to say are kinda splodie, but used right this thing is a BEAST and frankly, post FCCW it should be cannon we know Steiner loves HG.

I am under the impression Tex was/is a goon, but I could be wrong. That might be some of it.

His latest TTBT did run long (two hours) and had a huge chunk of sperging about how stupid the military industrial complex is and a deep discussion about the Star League era Baron-class destroyer. Still, it's a neat deep dive into lore; I just think Tex might need someone to remind him 'the video's about the Warhammer, Tex'.

I still like the guy's work and style.

I can see why some people might have an issue with that long detour, but I for one really like those, since it pretty much gives a short spotlight on a different topic in BT that I think is interesting (that whole Baron-class segment was a mini-TTBT about SLDF procurement bullshit, the conflict with the Taurians and info on the Baron class).

Even though it makes the video significantly longer, I like how it showcases how intertwined the whole BT universe is.
The Mackie went into some details about the early days of the Terran Hegemony and how it created the SLDF. I like stuff like that.

Also what is a "goon" in this context?

A goon is a member of the Something Awful forums. Well, these days it refers more to the older-school types, since SA was completely run over by trannies. In fact, the term we use a lot here in the farms, "troons", is originally a portmanteau of "tranny" and "goon", coined back when that wave crashed there.

So my local game store has started selling 3D printers (Anycubic Photons and Anycubic Wash & Cures). Debating on getting one to make it easier to get models when I get the urge to buy some. Hell, my boss is pressuring me to get one too in case he wants some random nicknacks. Might wait a couple paychecks before I go for it.

I don't have one since the wife insists in letting the cats roam freely around the house and animal fur and 3D printers don't mix, but I'd say all my friends who dabbled in 3D printing would recommend it. You're likely never going to make any money doing it, but if you play any kind of game that relies on physical miniatures or tokens being able to replace lost pieces or custom-print your own is amazing.

Plus you get another machine full of carefully-engineered moving parts in your office/garage. They're always neat to watch.

Customs can be absolutely ridiculous in an era where you have access to things like TSM, iJJ or HGauss.

Don't even get me started on when iHGauss starts to be a thing. By then half the stocks are optimized out of box.

Oh for sure but thankfully my group isn't made of WAAC fags, we like fun and lore. Lets be real a mech made during the FCCW and Steiner themed a Heavy Gauss isn't at all out of place. It was flavorful AF imho.

In regards to /btg/ space poland NEA is trying to get some help, but the mans insane and really into the hobby he's also like one of 4 people world wide who plays areotech lol. I feel like I should offer my writing stuff I've spoken to NEA off forums before a good dude for sure.

For those unaware the battletech thread on 4 chan is trying to factionize poland because why not. NEA is a poster and one of the insanely few trip fags allowed because he's a die hard and played so much, he has a blood name. Nice guy there's one schizo who shits on him because why not it is 4 chan.

To get the ball rolling on convo, I really can't see a time EVER I'd want a HVAC, are they just pure shit like they look or am I missing something? No alt ammo, always is the big wack.

HVACs are completely useless. Autocannons are iffy in terms of damage-to-weight ratio to begin with, and HVACs pay more in tonnage for both the gun and the ammo.

Sure, a HVAC/10 has a 2-hex advantage on medium range brackets and a 5-hex longer overall range, but for 2 extra tons, over twice as much heat, and 20% heavier ammo. I would argue that you could invest all that extra weight on a bigger engine for your design and just close the distance better. Alternatively, save yourself 1 ton and just get an Ultra Autocannon/10 with almost the same range, better ammo tonnage, and twice the fucking damage.

Long story short, HVACs were obsolete from the start.

You'd think for all those caveats they would at least do something like - to hit, like a pulse laser.

I'm not sure if he was a SA goon, but I'm almost certain he was an Eve goon. There is a good chance I was in a few important spaceship meetings with him back in the day. Watched his stuff for over a year before I figured out why he sounded familiar.

Considering how passionate he is whenever he talks about WarShips and WarShip-adjacent subjects in BT, him being a former EVE goon would not surprise me in the slightest.
