How long until a pozzed streaming series with a troon for a protagonist, that is in a lesbian relationship with Romano Liao, can do somersaults with a Hunchback and defeats an entire clanner Assault Trinary on their first encounter.Well guess Battletech is getting more popular then ever. Unfortunately the MoC has been a sexually degenerate place ever since the time of the Star League. In this thread we had a long, long talk about some of the stuff they got up to.Not just that they're building up Canopus, but that so much of the fanbase have taken a tongue-in-cheek meme because of a bit of artwork about catgirls into a mission statement for the MoC. Anything goes, but I doubt that means literal catgirls, not to mention traps and troons are openly accepted in the Magistracy or by your average citizen. In certain circles among the rich and powerful? Sure, because there has always been some relationship between having the means to do any perverse thing and those with the means to make those perversions a reality. I'm pretty sure Canopus has always been the Las Vegas of the Inner Sphere. Like, that's not something that just happened. Jokes about Canopus cat girls go back decades.I get it. Even as far beck as The Periphery 1st ed it was noted as being a very permissive place. Fine, I get it. But in the last few years more than a few of the more vocal fans have pushed for it to be a place where troons are just accepted as normal and nobody blinks an eye at surgically or genetically modified catgirls on the streets. It was never portrayed as that way in the fluff, but now we're being gaslighted that it has always been that way and if we say otherwise we're being intolerant bigots and there is no place for us in the BT family.
Field Manual - SLDF from 2012 has explicit mention of animal ear cybernetics in Canopus.I'm pretty sure Canopus has always been the Las Vegas of the Inner Sphere. Like, that's not something that just happened. Jokes about Canopus cat girls go back decades.

All of those divisions as part of LXXII Corps were posted on the far edge of Canopian territory in the less-settled outer reaches where there's not even a major pirate threat due to how few people live there. And you've got catboys smoking in brothels, military hovercraft used for waterskiing, and BattleMech beach volleyball in the desert sands. Obviously Hardcore is the MoC's red light district and shouldn't be taken as an example of the place as a whole, but shenanigans are common place.
But um...

So... yeah, about that sudden onset faggotry when its been canon for... 11 years or so that Canopian men wear dresses... Hell, the General is even mocked as a "dutiful Canopian husband" by his men due to him staying at base and organizing logistical matters. The place could be renamed to the Matriarchy of Canopus and everyone would just nod in approval that its finally being honest about what it is. By law only a woman can be head of state there, after all.
Let us not forget the official art of the Canopian throne room from Handbook: Major Periphery States:

Why yes, the Magestrix appears to be wearing a dress that covers very little and wearing sexy high heels and has what appears to be pleasure maidens keeping her company and a shamelessly horny female guard in the corner.
Everyone sees that artwork and goes "catgirls are real!" but then completely ignore it's captionThen someone made a bit or art that shows a catgirl with a mechanical tail and suddenly it's "omg, catgirls really do exist in the MoC!"
I see it as similar to the Hogwarts Legacy controversy. You have some people concerned about the actions of the company, employees, rights holders, etc. But the vast majority are concerned about the product. In this case, plastic miniatures of mechs and other vehicles. They’ll pay for the product with knowledge of the controversy or not because their focus is solely on the product.Even though more battle tech is good I guess and the minis look solid, I still feel like this is an overall failure for us and kind of a look into tabletop games as a hobby in general. CGL fired who many people consider the most influential author for the entire setting, and then the kickstarter gets more money then clan invasion in only a single day? Even if I don’t give CGL any of my money and that’s a personal victory, seeing this amount of success after what they pulled is basically just shoving the blackpill down my throat that most hobbyists are easily controlled cattle.
Normies don't give a shit on what happens behind the scenes.I see it as similar to the Hogwarts Legacy controversy. You're absolutely right. I suspect if you asked, 9 out of 10 people who backed the KS about Pardoe or Bishop Steiner the most they would say is "oh, the writers?" and not have a clue about the firing or the politics behind the writers or any of the rest of it. They're only concerned with getting their hands on something to buy, which is a perfectly valid take for them to have. It's no different than when Loren Coleman got caught taking money from CGL to pay for his house and most of the fanbase just didn't care so long as new books and minis were being produced. Or that Camille Cline wasn't the nicest person online (or in person) or that Warner Doles ended up a convicted sex offender or any of a hundred other online dramas or behind the scenes goings on.Normies don't give a shit on what happens behind the scenes.
we'd be talking about transgender First Princes and the Draconis Combine would be ruled by a pansexual wheelchair-bound black lady.
