Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

Draconis Combine would be ruled by a pansexual wheelchair-bound black lady.
Oh please, we all know the trashfire known as the CC would be ruled by her and her hamironfisted yet totally justified rule where all dissenters are brutally exterminated.

As to tranny First Princes... ugh, you're giving me flashbacks to when Stackpole had a hardon for surgery as a means of disguise and infiltration. I still wince to this day when I recall Phelan telling Ulric he can't rule out Focht undergoing a sex-change operation.
Lost Destiny said:
"As for Conal being worried about Vlad, I would not place too much stock in that idea." Ulric stoked his goatee. "The two people fighting for the chance to oppose Vlad in the next round have managed to kill each other, so he has a bye. As of now, Vlad is in the final battle, barring death or injury on the battlefield."

"That will never happen." Phelan shook his head. "My luck is not that good."

"No, indeed." The ilKhan pointed at the computer on Phelan's desk. "Now, what is this about a possible solution to the mystery of Anastasius Focht? Tell me everything so I can follow your reasoning."

The young MechWarrior glanced down at his notes, taking a moment to mentally compose what he was going to say. "The way I began was with the base Gus Michaels created before you sent him off to Alyina. From that, Focht would be, at most, one hundred years old. He seems obviously male, but the possibility of a sex-change was not discounted. The lost eye is a possible battle injury. Though it would have ended his career as a fighting soldier, he could still continue in a command capacity. We also know that he first surfaced in ComStar a dozen years ago, speaks German like a native of the Lyran Commonwealth, and that he may have spent some time at the Nagelring. Focht also told me he met my father once."

"Not much to go on," Ulric said quietly.

"True, but it was enough to get started. Knowing Focht is an alias, or at least operating from that assumption, I ran the records for every cadet and graduate of the Nagelring from the last eighty years. Screening them for height and other Bertillon measurements, that brought me down to just over a thousand candidates."

I can't find anything with a PPC and AC/2. I didn't search for anything with ERPPCs or LB2X or anything like that. However, the Mauler 1R has four AC2 and two ERLLs. There are a bunch of vehicles with multiple AC2s and you can always put flak ammo in them to crush VTOLs and try to get a fighter to lawn dart if you really want to sweep the skies.

Made the mistake of redownloading RogueTek and BT: Enhanced.

I was just after the expanded mech construction, parts, and weapons, as well as the expanded map.

Now, it's full of all kinds of crap.

Guess it's time to delete the fucking game.

Basically as much stuff as RT has these days but none of it is optional buy my biggest issue is the huge amount of controllable units in it, fully upgraded you can drop with I think 12 units (8 mechs 4 tanks). Its too much shit, it makes missions drag on so long.

I'm rereading the original House Liao sourcebook and I miss Mad Max. He was manipulative and sneaky and had the loyalty of the military and Maskirova and the Death Commandos, was great at setting his enemies against each other, and was a schemer without equal. Romano was always just nuttier than squirrel turd and Sun-Tzu could do no wrong, but Max was just the right guy at the right time. It's really too bad they just had him go 'round the bend in the Warrior Trilogy.

Takashi was the threat of the 3025 setting, but Mad Max was THE bad guy.

Reading the whole Warrior Trilogy was a treat and seeing how the man reacts was pretty fun.

Yeah Sun Tzu had (for the most time) the Mary Sue protection shield. His sister gassed thousands of St Ives people? Nope just banish her to Highspire. Provoking a fight with another SL signatory state? Nope nothing to see here folks. The only time he was smacked around was when the Republic was formed and he tried to establish the Confederations land claims only to be taken down a nodge by Devlin Stone.

It would have been okay if Sun Tzu had occasionally bitten off more than he could chew, but his string of successes were unparalleled with only the RotS thing breaking up his record. Hanse foments Anton's revolt, beats the Cappies like they stole something in the 4SW and then lost the War of 3039. Victor destroys the Jags, wins the Great Refusal, and then effectively lost the FCCW. Teddy K annexes the Lyon's Thumb, but the Combine is always on the verge of a civil war all the way back to the Ronin War because the hardliners think he isn't aggressive enough.

But Sun Tzu? He always gets it right.

Sun Tzu Liao is just what happens when the writers realize their designated whipping boys are about to collapse and need to bounce back, stat. If they hadn't fed their Davion fetish in the 4SW and had the war ended with the Capellan Confederation looking like more than just a crushed can of beer, Sun Tzu wouldn't have been needed. Or rather, he could have pushed back against the Federated Suns, reclaimed a bunch of worlds, and then taken the bloody nose every House Lord that goes on the offensive always gets before things settle again. He could have been competent without straining credulity.

I'd have been good if the CapCon had stayed a rump state. Empires sometimes lose territory in wars and can't ever recover it. It happens. And Sun Tzu could have been written to have play that as a strength. He now has good interior lines and is just the right size that if either the FC or FWL attack, they will end up grinding themselves to death taking what is left of the CC. And he could even have been written up as really going out of his way to destabilize everyone and everything to reclaim what he could. Let him put the bug in Katherine's ear that she could be in charge of the FC even if/when Victor comes back. Let him be the one who funds Katherine. Let him loan her the Mask guys to pop Melissa. And when the time is right, let him be the one to drop the dime that the CC is funding her and it throws the entire FC into chaos that leads to a civil war. Or make him maneuver the FS side to invade St Ives for whatever reason and turn it into a Vietnam or Afghanistan for them, when they can't win, can't leave, and constantly have to deal with an insurgency that he is funding all along. Make him push the Taurians into attacking the Fed Suns. Make him push the FWL and MoC into a war and he does it all from the shadows.

Or make him be entirely behind the destabilization of the Chaos March, but make it a major disappointment when WoB moves in just to stymie the AMC. Make him lose a war or two. Make him have to deal with some failure of his as a situation spirals out of control. Being a master manipulator he can make some hay out of it, but it leaves him a precarious position and show it eats at him on a personal level. Make him outwardly self assured but in him mind he is crippled by self doubt. And as time goes on he ends up being controlled by his advisors as they realize he too can be manipulated so the CC becomes Stalinist Russia where everyone is playing a game of musical chairs where the winner gets to live once Sun Tzu finally dies. And make it so in his wake he leaves behind a mess because Max's entire line is dead by that point and the CC has to bring in a complete unknown second cousin to fill the top spot.

Today's game is a series of lance on lance matches with the winner advancing to the next round, but there's a catch: Destroyed 'Mechs can't be used in the next round. 6500BV.

We even have a cash pool and a little trophy for the winner.

I have the following as my lance:

Wolfhound WLF-1 (G3/P4) 1253 BV
Vindicator VND-1R (G2/P4) 1577 BV
Phoenix Hawk PHX-1D (G3/P4) 1430 BV
Battleaxe BKX=7K (G2/P3) 2233 BV
Total BV: 6483

Interesting. Do mechs get repaired between matches if they're not destroyed? Partial repair/reload?

They get repaired and ammo reloaded and pilots are healed up, but destroyed 'Mechs are gone. If a MechWarrior is killed but the 'Mech isn't, it's available to use by a spare MechWarrior. So if a MechWarrior gets his ride shot out from under him but his buddy gets dead, he can slide over to the now spare 'Mech.

Three more things I forgot to mention:

1) Only intro level tech. No Star League, no Clan.
2) Only 'Mechs. No infantry or vehicles.
3) Each match has random maps drawn and units have to start touching the map edge.

The first round, I lost my Vindy and my Pixie but pulled off a win. The second round, an Awesome 8Q was in there and I made a mistake one turn and he caught my Wolfhound in the open. Three PPCs later the Wolfhound was no more. Meanwhile his other Mechs just kept whittling away at my Battleaxe until it was pinned between them and the Awesome and that was that.

Despite the dice gods being cruel and uncaring (as per usual), a lot of fun was had by everyone. We celebrated by going out for pizza and beer. The big winner rather graciously picked up the tab with the prize cash. 🤣

We had such a fun night the other day.

So my little game group was hosted at casa de basso and mrs basso was reeled in, to be a LRM carrier user. Basically she smiled and rolled the dice box... and did pretty well.

Our story/theme for the night, battle of An Ting in war of 3039. We played Kurtians out gunned massivly, out manned etc. It was some last stand shit just seeing how hard we could punch out some Fed suns elites.

Being we all know the game, and rules plus we just want fun. I added some serious RPG elements. We are proud weebs. I demanded a parley the next day and 100 of our engineers at the mech factory showed up in full jap dress and I explained, we're all ready and willing to die. If you take the city we will kill ourselves and blow up the factory. Honor means everything lets 1v1 IRL. I pulled my book for the RPG stats hoping for a total lulz story and narrative swap. My friends were baffled and denied that saying rightfully so "you're a samurai and I just drive mechs" but, agreed to a 1v1 mech duel for the planet.

All I had to work with is a custom dragon SRM swap, both lasers forward a shit ton extra armor and sword vs a marauder. The dice gods didn't favor me, as if that fight was very good to start.

Now I got KO'd and, to end the battle, a LRM carrier, came out firing a salvo to destroy the mech and then hoisted a white flag.

Fucking great game night, stories and we had some amazing pesto cheese bites I made. All and all just a story why i fucking love this game.

Welp I'm fucking torn...
