Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

At this point it's objectively better then CGL's mediocre casting. Actually having your variant represented? Faction logos actually built into your mech? A full lance of 10KM Awesomes because you're a retard who drank the Marik tea?

There's no downside.
I fought my usual urge to immediately start offering to print mechs for my fellow BT enjoying kiwis on the super cheap, I do shit like that a lot for communities I'm in because being able to summon high detail minis from pools of toxic sludge is infinitely satisfying to my autistic monkey brain. If I could find a way to do it 100% anonymous on both sides I would though, I refuse to break the anonymity of this forum.

Tex won't say shit because he has collected a giant tranny audience. He has ended up in a similar situation to Jerma and Vinesauce where despite the content not being tranny focused it's most ardent fans are troons because welfare.
I've been watching Tex and Dep playing Wildlands, because silly Wildlands is the best Wildlands. This is at the end of every episode

I know for a fact Fiaura is a troon, because I had the unfortunate luck to click on a video about an actual tank video by this actual man years ago. The name is dumb enough it stuck with me.

MW5 Clans gameplay footage has been dropped and honestly its looking pretty solid.

Hold judgements though when it finally gets released.

I'm so damned hyped to (hopefully) pilot a Bushwacker again, MW3 was my first introduction to BattleTech.

Yep, Fiaura is a troon. Was a pretty early adopter of the fad, actually. I remember exchanging a couple of messages with them over youtube (back when it still allowed for DMs) about their World of Tanks videos and they seemed reasonable enough back then.

Of course, that was close to 10 years ago now so I'm sure that's a brain thoroughly rotted by "validation" and/or exogenous hormones by now.

With how spotty the quality of the MW5 DLCs have been I'm not expecting much from this, PGI could pull it off but they've had enough fuck ups to be worried.

I never got the HBS BattleTech mods to work.
They are very easy to install now, I been running a BTA3062 campaign and it has been pretty fun. The only thing I don't like is that some times you get dropped in the middle of 2/3 reinforced lances (Stars, if you are dirty clanner) or you spawn at the bottom of a mountain and the aforementioned lances are at the very top of said mountain raining down fire upon you.

That mod also adds Battle armor.

Yeah I know the feeling, I design and post a lot of BT stuff online but that's all tied into my usual stuff. So all I can say is there are plenty of niche and obscure models out there to print!

Oh man, if being a Davion fan is suffering, I can’t imagine what you’ve gone through.
My friend it is bliss. The wolf fanboys didn't even notice we got a sourcebook, so they couldn't plot armour the wolves and we got half our systems back unopposed. Nikol Marik is actually written with flaws. And when they released those factional dice sets no one wanted the Marik ones, the only two people to buy them were me and some 30k player who thought they fit his army. Free Worlds Best Worlds.

Mods scare me because I'm a Boomer at technology, but I'll give it a crack. I never got the HBS BattleTech mods to work.
If you have it on Steam you can download most of them from the workshop and then just enable them using the in-game mod manager.

Also, that mod's primary requirement, Yet Another Mech Lab, is pretty much mandatory since it gives you an actual MechLab to use instead of the horribly neutered one in game. Want to stick a 400 rated engine into an Annihilator? Go right ahead! DHS, Endo? Sure!

Just like Mw 3 the only game without this god damn forsaken "suspension point" system. At least it let me build an Annihilator with 6 ER PPc's to have it explode with an alpha strike in the winter level

I have never understood the obsession BT writers and management have for Clan Wolf. They're the most generic of the clans, and they're as interesting lore-wise as bread and warm water.

I always thought that Clan Goliath Scorpion was a bit more cool, since you know, these guys are ingesting scorpion venom on the regular to have visions and then go to perform "quests" for the sake of rebuilding the Star League, they do all this in a setting where you have massive armies of mechs, lasers, large space faring nations and no aliens.

At least they seemed cool until the whole shitshow with Nueva Castilla and Scorpion Empire together with the poorly translated predecessor Escorpion Imperio, then it's just retarded.

Or in other words: they're extremely easy to write. Kind of like the Ultramarines in 40k. :P

They are the default clan option. And as such everything is written around them. Il Khan Era is Clan Wolf conquers the Inner Sphere with the power of friendship and plot holes. I wish we got something set during the Jihad, which will never ever happen cause it's called the Jihad, everyone's sacred cows got slaughtered so they are bitter about the Jihad and the people who make modern BT games don't know how to balance a time period of good enough inner tech to stand up if not surpass in some areas clan tech.

Everything in Battletech is retarded. The Scorpions even in the contemporary era make, in my opinion, probably one of the best Clans for random play:
- Seekers justify essentially any engagement you want ( space archeologists with mechs lead by drug visions can get them, I dunno, to Canopus to shoot people in the quest for Kerensky's Brothel Receipt)
- They're quite reasonable when they're not drugged as fuck. Their IlClan plotline is stupid but admittedly the least stupid amongst all, they got their Periphery Empire, fight the Council of Merchants and struggle to run their new nation properly.
- They were forgotten for so long that they had no chance of developing terminal retardation like Malvina for the Jade Falcons or Alaric for the Wolfies.
- They build quite a bit of weirdo chassis, like Blakist machines and Invasion-era stuff (the Warhawk, for example).

They are the default clan option. And as such everything is written around them.

After the Davions stopped being the protagonists with the Clan Invasion, it's them or the Goons. Battletech is retarded so they will always choose the dumbest, most obvious pick for plot advancements instead of being creative, and if they are creative they will forgot about it or it will be insanely retarded (Dominions Divided). The Jihad was written as a justification of the Dark Age, that's the reason why the Blakists manage to fuck up Fochstar and the Goons, "good guys that had to win". I find amusing that Jaime Wolf got killed like a dog by a character that was written as a sad joke, fitting.

What's really sad is that this is another thing that means something to people. When I was a kid my Dad took me to an entertainment place where they had battletech pods. They were things you sat in that were worked up to look like the inside of a cockpit with a multiplayer videogame on a screen in front of you. You were pretty much playing a mechwarrior game but it was an experience and I was a kid so it was one of the coolest things ever when I was young. It was also something my Dad thought was cool when he wasn't even into this sort of thing.
Seeing this comment reminded me of the time I went to a Dave & Busters with friends to play Battletech using the pods back in 2001. The whole setup was pretty cool.

I got curious about who made them and what kind of hardware they used so I did some searching around for info. They were made by Virtual World Entertainment LLC and to my surprise that company is still around. Their official website is www.mechjock.com and they also have a YouTube channel. The last iteration of the pod hardware is from 2002 but some of them are still in operation. The only remaining Battletech center open to the public appears to be MechCorps in Texas. Battletech pods also show up to gaming conventions a couple times a year.
