Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

I know for a fact the Falcons operated freeborn sibkos. One of those got intentionally ganked by Ter Roshak in a "training accident" involving live landmines so he could have Aidan not-yet-Pryde impersonate one so he could test out a second time. I think the Wolves also did, since the Dragoons had their own take on those that Phelan Kell spent some time in while he was being fostered by them.
Freeborn sibkos are... a thing, but they're still fairly uncommon before the Clans went on full crunch to get more Warriors to rebuild their toumans post Invasion and associated fuckery. And maybe I'm out of date but I don't remember any of them being "mixed".

Either way, doesn't change the fact that someone at FASA overlooked some pretty serious implications when they wrote Clan Warriors being so sexually permissive. Could be a kink thing, but I'd be willing to give them some benefit of the doubt since back in the late 90s early 00s people being sex freaks was not immediately seen as a desirable trait as it is in Current Year.

Hope the customers enjoy their $400 shipping.
Oh, it's fine. I hear they brought it down to $200 shipping. That's fair, right? Right?

Oh no, they weren't mixed in the slightest, and in fact the freeborns were 200% treated like shit. See: my example of one washed-up borderline solahma deciding to wipe out an entire class that's about to test out for a sake of a single failed trueborn. When he, the other instructor who helped falsify shit, and Aidan all got called before the council later on they were far more pissed about him fucking with the rules to get Aidan a second try than they were with a bunch of dead freebirths.

As to the sex thing... writers can be weird (see Stackpole's fondness for cosmetic surgery I've brought up), but I don't recall any specific "this is all heckin' valid" shit about the way sexuality has ever been presented. Hell, when Aidan's buddy Horse reveals before them as a witness that his actual name is Lyle, after his father, the Council almost recoils in horror at such an abnormal word.

Are the Battletech neoprene mats any good, or is there a better 3rd party (I'm not bothered about price, I just want something good quality that won;t fall apart after a few months of use)
I have the Racice River Delta/Deployment Zone mat from the Tukayyid series. It's gorgeous and feels sturdy enough, though I haven't rode it particularly hard. I prefer a hex mat to measuring so CGL's neoprene mats seemed pretty ideal. I plan to buy another one erelong.

Now that I've finished the final renovations on my new place I have a ton of space for gaming, so I'm thinking of setting up a bunch of semi-permanent boards and getting back into BT. Similarly does anyone have any experience with Hextech terrain, or recommendations for BT compatible pre-made stuff?
The neoprene matts are awesome as well as the HexTech Terrain can't go wrong with them.

Also a bonus (OR negative) is that the HexTech terrain from GaleForce come painted and the paint job is really excellent.

I still don't get why the shipping price was so high. Are the packages just extremely heavy or something?
CGL incompetence is the only answer. They're using the same fulfillment company as the Clans KS and the shipping costs were a fraction of what they are for Mercenaries.

Awesome, I was a bit leery of buying without some firsthand experience, because my last experience of buying physical stuff from CGL wasn't great, but I'm glad they're good as they seem really handy

That's very much a positive for me. I have limited hobby time, so anytime I can save on stuff like terrain is more time for playing.

I assumed they did it to make the clans as alien as possible. It seems like they did everything they could to make the clans weird, and breaking taboos like that is a good way to make a group different.

That's my assumption as well. Back in the day, it wasn't "kinky" so much as "weird" to most of the playerbase. I guess they couldn't have predicted swinging' incestuous communists* would be such a popular fetish on the internet 20+ years later.

* And yeah, the Clans were a pretty thinly-veiled reference to the Soviets. As if the whole "Kerensky" thing wasn't enough of a giveaway, their society is at the same time extremely collectivist and very corrupt. The ruling class only ever gets punished if they lose face.

Ironically the IRL Alexander Kerensky was a military failure and would die in exile in the USA, none of the Orthodox Churches in NYC letting him be buried there because of his failures in stopping the Communist takeover.

So, yeah, here's the first confirmation I've seen of CGL going after online BT content.

Sounds like this guy did work for CGL (one of his prints was the cover art for the "Battletech Pride Anthology" and they are using a clause in the contract to force him to not sell prints or something.

CGL really is fast tracking the "make the fans hate them more than GW" arc.

I wonder how long it will be until they go after Sarna or Tex? I unironically hope they go after Sarna because of Sarna's faggotry over the past couple of years deserves it. If they go after Tex, they might as well close up shop because he's a if not the major reason why Battletech regained so much traction over the last few years.

I am out of the loop. What's Sarna done wrong besides changing their logo every June and the horrible shit stain that is the Canopus page?
Openly promoting the gay shit CGL has been pumping into Battletech. Can't remember if it was a identity politics article or an article saying that the pride anthology was a great thing for the game that happened first, but their comment boards politely (no sarcasm. They were genuinely polite about it initially) told them to keep it out of the website and that it doesn't belong in the game about giant stompy robots committing war crimes. The head of the site aggressively bickered with the board to the point he got the mods to remove comments he didn't like. They've double down on shutting down any deserved criticism when they make an article promoting faggotry. It has been brought up on the thread a few times now if you're bored enough to look it up.

Well that sucks. Most of the articles about stuff that actually matters like mechs and lore (from what I've read at least thank God) are actually really good reads. Such is the way of all wikis at this point it seems.

Sean also has shitty takes when it comes to Mechs. His whole entire Bad Mechs is just pure shite.

Sarna is arguably a better wiki than Lexicarium is for 40k, but Lexicarium has enough sense to remember its an fan driven encyclopedia site and not a soapbox for the people running the site.
I miss 1d4 chan way better info and pure memes but you'd also learn what you needed for crunch and fluff.

The bad mech write ups are meh, I often skip the write up (2/3rd time it's bad in lore only) and read comments they can be seething to helpful out of box thinking.

Well here's the replacement site in case you didn't have the link already.

Have any of you gotten an email about them shipping your kickstarter orders yet? I hear they’ve been shipping stuff out already.
