Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

Just realized adding support for non-Omnimechs was probably a required step in moving towards Career mode, so, yeah, this whole thing bodes well.

Been a while since I made anything in MegaMekLab, so I figured I'd make a pirate mech. Nothing special this time. Logic I had was a pirate named Deon Spice upgraded his Blackjack to use some newly "acquired" rotary autocannons so he can pepper his targets from afar (yes, that's literally why I nicknamed it the Pepperjack). Drops the medium lasers to make room for an extra ton of ammo. It's stupid as fuck, but whatever. If it manages to pull off all 12 shots without jamming, it'll be worth the stupid.

Disgusting.

How else is it supposed to spin and unjam? Mechanically?

I deadass forgot to take those out. Excuse me while I go fix that
Atlas III pulls it off pretty well.

I made a stupid mech to irritate people. Gentlemen! BEHOLD! The WTF-1 Wartfly! Bask in it's retardation!

Thinking up a backstory for it. Want to make it a Marian Hegemony mech from the mind of someone who spent too much time doing drugs in Canopus.

Finally got my recent order from IWM. Got a Banshee 11X and an Axeman 6X (yes. The experimental mechs. Wanted the goofy gun-toting Axeman, and the Banshee has more armor than sense thanks to the modular armor) for my Steiner force and an Avalanche for my Taurians (I like the look of the golf ball).

It can work.

(Yes, I know that's not a BattleMech, but just humor me by mentally scaling it up to like medium mech size.)

Needs jump jets to really earn that "Annoying fly" status.

Wanted to, but I chose to add a double heat sink in it's place. If the TSEMPs were a hair lighter, I think I would have gotten away with it and forgo the extra heat sinks. I'll try to remember to play with MekLab tomorrow after work to see if it works without downsizing the engine. Really want to keep that annoyingly high speed for a quad mech. If it doesn't work, I'll try to do something else that's stupid but annoying.

I really hate that most mech games are japanese "mechs" that fly around like jets and are super thin. I love me big heavy slow mechs whose only melee is slamming into the other guy
Then Battletech isn't the game for you. The controls of a Battlemech are partially haptic and in the very first Battletech novel, Decision at Thunder Rift, it's mentioned that Mechwarriors need to be trained to think a certain way so that their mech doesn't trip over it's own legs. They're also quite nimble. In that same novel, the main character @Grayson Death Carlyle takes out a crusader by turning a blind corner and immediately doing a baseball slide underneath a fuel pipe.

This is true, but depending on the source material these maneuvers range from rare to outright suicidal. The more human like movements and hotdogging are extremely taxing on the pilots via the neurohelmet, and also not sustainable for the mechs internals.

Eh, there's a yawning chasm between Battletech's flashiest moments and anything you see in Gundam or, God forbid, Armored Core.

BattleMechs at least tend to stay on the ground instead of hoverboarding around on jump jets like Dragon Ball Z characters for 99% of a battle. The mere fact they operate with internal weapons puts them a world apart from most Japanese mecha.

Alright. "Upgraded" the piece of shit I call a Wartfly to have jump jets. Took out the second TSEMP cannon to make room for 6 jump jets. For some semblance of offense, I put in a heavy flamer and an ER flamer in the head and gave it a laser AMS.

Now excuse me. I'm thinking of making a retarded 100 ton mech to have all of the speed before I go to bed.
