Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

I don't think things are quite as dire as people make out. The games are fine, they're passable, they do the job of getting people interested. It's how I got in, I played MW2 and one of the xbawx ones a little at friends' houses as a kid, then picked up MW5 on sale and really enjoyed it. From there I finally got into the fiction, then the TTG... or at least, the minis and the painting thereof. Every time I go to a LGS to pick stuff up I see more BT shelf space, more people playing it on the tables, and not entirely people older than me emptying the shelves and playing the game. Sure a lot of the people involved in the shit are retarded or pozzed or both, but I think the IP is doing more than weathering another hurricane.

Of course, there's the new push for AUs which isn't going to help, there's the stupid behind the scenes drama, but remember that the twitter slapfights and the slow-motion Sarna meltdown and other internet drama doesn't matter to most living humans. One or two product missteps won't sink the brand, and more (un)fortunately won't sink CGL. I personally think there's enough background Chud radiation to keep things at an even keel, especially since the inroads the fags make keep falling to fag infighting (see what happened to the first pride anthology magazine).

People are aging out, but there's enough new people coming in that like military scifi and big robots blowing the shit out of yellow peril stereotypes. Tourists can do damage, but the big plus with TTGs is that they're inherently hostile to tourists (though the vidya might end up a lost cause). There's math and it takes time and money and talking to people and so fags and progs can only do so much, even at the corporate level. A lot of the 40k refugees aren't here because they wanted female space marines but because 10e is a rolling dumpster fire, and they bring that big chud energy with them. So take heart, and keep up the gatekeeping.

So they come out with Gothic Battletech and it introduces Monsters and Kaiju with Guns along with Mechs annnnd the starter set only comes with alternate looking Mechs? Just seems weird to start an AU with Kaiju and shit and the starter box is just more Mechs.... Yay........

i'm telling myself its an early 4/1 joke....

speaking of at my FLTTN I ran 12 Dragons as Dracs in 3025 lmao. It was absurdly fun. God I'd have won so hard if not for those AC/5s...

Its baffling to see this shit in any nerd space, but especially in Battletech since the vast majority of players are extremely welcoming. Its the kind of performative stuff you expect to see from 40k to rub it in the nose of the chuds.

That's where these people came from. /r/sigmarxism couldn't make any headway in 40k because GW ignored them to death so they moved to Battletech.

It's just.... sad and pathetic. I repeat myself, but imagine having the need to start weirdo crusades about gender identity in a tabletop wargame made from 80ies stereotypes and "borrowed" Japanese designs. What's the need? Why? What's the point? It's theatrical and performative, and beyond all useless.

Of course, the point is brainrot and performative politics, and you'll never meet this kind of people in a real game because they don't play. But there's such a .... pathetic sadness about it.

I don't even understand why this channel posted this, or why the channel exists at all. Under 200 subs, only 56 videos posted over the course of 6 years, only 1 other video about some slop match 3 game posted within the past year, nothing breaking 1000 views, only 9 of their 56 videos breaking 100 views. Who the fuck thought this channel needed this video? It's not as if they suddenly switched to being pro tranny after their channel floundering for years, it seems its always been like that. Their website is just as dead, their twitch channel is even more dead. Even for their own target audience this video wasn't worth the time to film, edit, and upload.

Perhaps Catalyst paid for it.

Man, if I knew it would be like that, I would have chosen to be less autistic when I was a kid.
I would do a idk violin or skating, or whatever tranny autists wont touch.

I think it's funny that the troon video on the terribly pozzed subreddit still has the jannies working overtime to sweep up lots of naughty wrongthink. Things aren't as monolithic as doomers say!

Gonna let you know, I play BT locally in a very blue area of a very blue state. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. They don't bring up anything more than "Let's bring mechs and throw dice". I think the biggest controversy is one guy I played against recently uses Flechsheets to auto resolve certain things which made someone mad (I wasn't there for this).

There's some annoying stupid remarks in the discord, but that's discord for you. I'm only in it so I can easily post my lances and see other people's lances.

I even painted some of my mechs and have like 7/8 Lances worth of mechs (and enough Clan Mechs to build a Star +2). I'm enjoying it. Yeah there's stupid online drama, but it hasn't effected the place I play yet (and I doubt it actually will).

Just giving you guys a new guy to the Tabletop's perspective instead of the 24/7 Doom and Gloom cycle this thread becomes every so often. I really would like to come to this thread to see people post their silly mechs like that one guy did, memes, and funny lance ideas.

I'm glad to hear you're not dealing with the horrors of the internet. In truth most of offline Battletech are a bunch of old guys and a few newcomers squaring off against each other because giant robots firing plasma rifles and MRM-40s are bad-ass. Just be careful -- one day you have forty mechs, the next day you have -checks notes- 679.

Oh god yeah I see people with their hundreds of mechs. Thankfully, I do not have a place to put 100s of Mechs, though I will have like 55ish by the end of the month. I am putting a hard rule on myself where I'm not ordering any additional mechs until I've used the majority of the ones I own.

The reason I'm even still ordering them is I found a 3D print group on Ebay who so far have been excellent to order from and I got an Ebay gift card a while back. So it's effectively free mechs for me.

As for the in person, yeah it's been great. The worst I've had to deal with in person is someone who seemed a little off. IDK if it was autism or not, but he was a bit different and while he knew most of the rules he didn't know all of them and the group he played with ran different rules than they are written. It wasn't a truly bad experience, just a very awkward one.

The performative politics are just another way to get those people to spend money. As you’ve said, you’ll never meet them at your LGS because they tend to stay at home and argue about culture wars and why the pride flag paint schemes are hecking valid. So much of nerd culture has sadly devolved into trying to appease and appeal to these people because they’re also hapless consoomers.

All of the immediately recognizable Mech's are all stolen from the anime. Err except maybe the Locust or the Atlas maybe.
The Locust is from Crusher Joe. 1000x more popular as the Locust though since they show up for literally only 15 seconds in Crusher Joe.
