Megamek just released a new website thats probably gonna give Flechsheets a run for their money.

I currently use megamek for printing sheets and this is really nice improvement on it, having alpha strike heat, melee damages, indicators for heat levels with penalties, and appropriate hit+cluster tables all on the sheet are great QoL additions especially for players who don't know a lot off by heart. I'm looking forward to when its compatible with custom sheets.

My only issue is that it doesn't have the artwork for Mechs. I know its not an issue for some and the fact they have copyright issues when they do it, but I like having little pictures with the RS that I use.

Oh I did the basics and showed him Mechwarrior and all that, which he’s adopted with good speed. It’s when we start getting into the weeds that I lose him.
Yeah, I've had similar issues, even when the guy is a big fan of history and should be able to appreciate the parallels between European nations and the Great Houses.

Started to delve into the Clan Invasion in MW5 mercs and even with my whole Assault lance kitted out with the best shit that clan tech garbage is ripping me to shreds.

Now if you excuse me I have a Marauder 3R to outfit with clan tech.

The first mission is absolutely brutal. I had to restart because my Atlas was obliterated literally 10 meters before I reached the extraction point. I also lost two level 60 pilots. After that it gets considerably easier.

Bit of a random thought, but I wish Microsoft would revive Mechassault. I loved part 1 and 2.

I just found out there was a Battletech con near me this past weekend.
If I had known I would have gone. I used to play and the location was very cool.
It was on the USS Massachusetts battleship in Battleship cove, Fall River MA.
Saturday and Sunday. 35 bucks for either day. But they had a package for 100 bucks, was both days and you got to stay over in one of the crew bunks Saturday into Sunday. If they have it next year, I'm going.
No shit? Fuck, how did I miss that, that's like driving distance for me.

What was the name of the event? Do you think they'll run it again next year?

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Microsoft has at this point settled on a single continutiy for all the Mechwarrior and strategy games, and Mechassault just does not fit into that continuity at all due to its bizzare take on the story. [I don't know what they were smoking when they interpreted Jerome Blake as some kind of space wizard creating superweapons powered by jedi holocrons.]
As cool as it was, Mechassault is definitely a product of the "2000s edgy Xbox shooters" era.

I don't think it was ever part of the official lore but it was absolutely awesome using an Elemental and hijacking mechs. God I miss the edgy early 2000s era of gaming... we really didn't appreciate what we had.

A bit of a spoiler but.

You actually find out the old base was an old Intelser outpost maintained by Clan Diamond Shark and you have to return to gather more data that you missed in the ending of the original game. Also your Dad was a freebirther of Clan Diamond Shark.
Explains why he did so damn well for himself as a mercenary then.

I grew my pile of shame again this week, but I swear that this time is the last time before I actually start making progress again. Now, to be fair, I've intended to finish that Orion for the last two months. On that topic, does anyone else kinda like the coffee-staining effect that being lazy with wash gives a mech? Am I just coping/untalented/tasteless?

Its weird and enjoyable experience that I found out no matter how long you've been enjoying the lore there is something always out there you don't know about the scene. I've known people who have been into this game forever and are still learning about other things that happens in the setting.

I love how all of the clans exist in a permanent state of war socialism EXCEPT for the Diamond Sharks who decided to be the “Capitalism Ho!” Clan.
The Falcons were also rather capitalistic with their strong banking sector. But yeah the clans are really weird. Also obliterating the one clan who espoused strong forms of Democracy (the Wolverines) because big Nicky K started to loose control after Klondike
