Well the game didn't have a great reception, has a stigma against it's name and there's plenty of other problems so making any updates or going further is basically a lost cause now. Plus not skilled enough to make the game better than it currently is or write better updates than previously.

Was really hoping the Steam release would go well but why would it, should have just gave the game to backers and not bother with Steam.

Also don't want to deal with the drama anymore. Can't ignore it because that causes more drama and can't do anything about it because that causes more drama.

It was really fun making the game, trailers, updates, websites, tutorials, blog posts and stuff, hopefully you all liked those things.

Am glad most of you guys are happy with the game though, unless you were just being nice >.> Really must thank you for the in-depth emails and comments, learned lots. Hopefully the game lived up to your expectations and had enough content to explore.

Will make another game update with Kickstarter Island included and some other fixes, leave a comment below of what you really want fixed. Will work on fixes and features until you're all happy and content then stop.

Must be doing this PC game dev thing wrong because it is way too hard to stay happy and productive.

Some argued that it's due to PewDiePie's vid that caused the drama:

has a stigma against it's name
no shit
NO SHIT
NO
FUCKING
SHIT

it's almost like greenlight is filled with shitty games that have "SIMULATOR"

Goat Simulator was a joke.
goat sim wasn't even a goat sim, it was a silly game that used an engine's problems for fun and humor.
it seems no one who develops games got that, and thought it was a legit simulator; and that everyone was just laughing there ass off because of a realistic goat sim.
as opposed to ZOOM THERE GOES THE GOAT INTO THE SKY WOW!

maybe i'm not getting the whole picture.. but it just sounds like
IM NOT GETTING WOMEN TO SUCK MY DICK OFF 24/7 IM NOT GETTING PRAISE ALL THE TIME THIS IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN!

Much as I despise PewDiePie's videos, I absolutely agree with his synopsis of that 'game'.

I'm not sure how the dev could legitimately 'call it quits' when they'd barely started developing the game.

I haven't seen any Let's Player do this as more than the joke/shoddy cash in it clearly is.

Yogscast Sjin ever the shitposting troll did a play of it and barely got one video of fun out of it. It's just that damnably bad.

Far, far too many of these idiots really didn't see the whole stupidity of Goat Simulator's advertising campaign, they just saw that everyone hurled money at it to ensure it was made and mistakenly thought there was a market for this genre of games and not that it was in effect a hilarious puzzle game with the wonkiest of wonky physics engine that made it a gloriously fresh pile of crap.

Goat Simulator was originally made as a joke. A company was asking its fans to choose which game they should make next. They threw in a horribly broken alpha of goat simulator that they whipped up using 95% stock assets as a joke, and everyone voted for it. And then they released it with one map and almost no content at the absurd price of $15. And people bought it. Over and over. Realizing that they had a bizarre hit on their hands, the company released more and more content. They never planned any of this in advance, and I think that they know that they could never replicate the magic with a Goat Simulator 2 or whatever. In fact, I believe that all of the content since launch has been free to justify that $15 price tag.

Goat Simulator is a bad game that's funny. But if you make a game that's bad on purpose, it's not really funny anymore. The reason why goat simulator is so funny is because they didn't really give a fuck about the physics engine, but if they had actually tried to make the physics engine wonky, it would probably suck.

I would wager that a good lot of the reason it was popular was because it was by and far a novelty - something so bizarre and abnormal that people bought it just to say, 'yeah, I played this weird-ass game'.

Of course, indie devs aren't often savvy to the fact that something being popular doesn't mean it'll be popular when repeated with just a few lines of code changed.

People try to make these things as youtube bait. There's not much work involved. Just use all the default physics of unity, throw in a few asset packages, don't really code anything new beyond setting up a few triggers so the world isn't *completely* static, and maybe putting in a life bar. All in the hopes that Pewdie or Toby will play it(they won't), even though it's "me too" iteration #6398, and the few hours of effort used to make it will rake in millions (it won't).

PDP strikes me as somebody who'd probably be okay to hang out with as long as it doesn't involve his internet persona.

Felix pretty much is, according to various interviews. He also likes where he lives down in Brighton and Hove because, in spite of being one of the most famous youtubers ever, in a british tourist hot-spot no less, he is so rarely bothered by people walking up to him asking to take selfies with him or scream various catch phrases at him and can pretty much live anonymously.

Indeed, while he says "the internet access" was a main reason for him moving there he seems to enjoy the unexpected benefit of people simply not knowing who he is when in going about day-to-day life.

The only thing I know about this game is that the Grumps played it.
At least it kind of seems like it has more meat than more "simulator" games ("games") but why don't you try making a not shit game
