'I'm one of the good ones!' Always from people who believe that oppressed minorities agree with them on every political issue, and feels very betrayed when they inevitably don't.

of course Ben's the sort of idiot who says that there's only a small percentage of detransitioners so they should be ignored entirely. The percentage of detransitioners in the troon population is higher than the percentage of troons in the human population, but
that's never stopped people like him from bringing them up all the damned time. The thing with Ben is I'm only
fairly sure he's unaware of just how full of shit he is. I feel like the true misinformation specialists-who-are-really-peddlers, who are fully aware of what they're doing but it suits their goals to do so, are far less prominent than the loud idiots like Ben. Him, Taylor Lorenz, Nitasha Tiku, all the rest, I believe are malicious, petty authoritarians, but to a large degree they truly believe most of what they're saying because they're zealots in their bubble. They're not internally consistent, but that doesn't matter for zealots, especially because their guiding principle is 'it's only OK when we do it'.
I only mention this because it means there's more to enjoy in their emotional spiralling, as all the 'fascist bigotry' they've been whining about for years is actually coming to pass in terms of slowly undoing some of the peak craziness of the past few years. These aren't Jackie Singhs, pure opportunists and grifters who will just switch sides if it becomes convenient. I believe people like Ben are true believers, which is why his extended meltdown as he loses what influence and power he had - while never understanding that's he's fundamentally the orchestrator of his own downfall - is so fun. For being such an asshole, he still fundamentally thought he was in the right. His narc injury is sustained and vicious and it makes his anger even more impotent.
And he doesn't even have any idpol to fall back on! Even Taylor has her 'muh long covid disability', he's just another straight cis white man who technically should have been giving his seat at the table to minorities anyway. Ben's going to have a terrible 2024, and it will be very funny to see.
