This is still the best candy I’ve ever tasted.

I remember one year, a lady down the street was giving out Ferrero Rocher. Those can get a little pricey, so it was really unexpected and a real treat. That lady could've molested us but we wouldn't have cared as long as she kept handing those out. It's still my favorite gift to give people I don't really care about but I'm obligated to get them something. Everyone loves those fucking things.

But as far as standard fare went, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Pixie Sticks all day. I can't handle them now-a-days, though.

but for me the best alternative to Smarties was a candy that used to exist called Dem Bones. They had a better flavor, were harder and less chalky, and you could arrange them into skeletons.
Smarties were always the most accessible candy when I was a kid and they were not impressive at all. They tasted alright if I ate a whole or half stack at once and the flavors mixed together but individually you’re basically snacking on tums. Horses fucking love them though, nevermind how I know that.

Best candy is crack smoked through one of those convenience store roses things.

anything chocolate (no fruit or nuts) and salty liquorice. sweet black liquorice is o-kay too. this is what i prefer all year so make it skull shaped too.

not that its got anything to do with halloween but speaking of chocolate, im eating handmade chocolate with pink pepper right now and i want it to be what i die from

Don't horses also love sugar cubes as a treat? Smarties are probably just an extremely soft sugar cube to them. They might not even notice any sort of real taste.
That’s probably true. They do eat the wrapper right along with it.

These are very oddly specific but for some reason these two candies really stuck out to me back in the day. The first is Pal bubble gum. I used to get it all the time for years and then one day it just disappeared from stores and nobody gave it out anymore. I remember it tasting like regular bubble gum except it's like someone got the formula wrong and dumped three times the flavor compound into the mixer. If I ate it today I'd probably get diabetes immediately. The other candy was Red Hot Dollars. They were packaged in little cardboard boxes (like Milk Duds and other candies) and were little gummy cinnamon discs with dollar signs on them. They're made by the same company that makes Jujyfruits and Jujubes candies but I can never find them in stores anywhere, they'd only turn up in the mini boxes at Halloween. I don't really like cinnamon all that much but these were like the perfect amount to me.

Full disclosure, I was really into Halloween as a kid. Still sort of am but I'm trying to find the right balance between humility and full blown autism.

I'm not making a new thread for this topic, so stop complaining dear, this one's still perfectly good, give it a sniff. Besides, what better theme time of year to perform necromancy?

Did any of you live in one of those nice neighborhoods where some people imported and really hunted for special candy to hand out every year? There were at least two houses in my neighborhood that handed out Skull Pops while tons of parents wanted to know why they couldn't find any in stores. They were kind of a grapes'n'cream lollipop that were my exception for not being fond of hard candies. They were just so goddamn delicious. I looked them up because I want to taste that nostalgia only to discover that they've been discontinued relatively recently, it seems. :heart-empty: Everything good gets the axe, like Pinnacle cookie dough vodka.

I remember the Skull Pops too, loved those because Creamsicles were always my favorite ice cream and it had a similar taste, just grape.

For my neighborhood the big draw was the people giving out full-sized bars, especially the Snickers and Milky Ways. There was one house that always had full-size Necco wafers too, which in my opinion are the hidden gem of candy.
