Better Call Saul

Her character was more interesting I guess? Kim Wexler is way more interesting than Skyler White as a character, plus her acting is top tier as shown in the last episode where she breaks down and cries, it made my skin crawl due to the direction, sound and her acting.

Ohhh and also Skyler was an unlikeable bitch who hated Walt and Kim is just a little deviant but not a bad person who loves and cares about Jimmy.
I love this rewriting of history 😪

Just as 2 examples
In the span of a year Walt got his brother and law attacked by cartel hitman which probably made her paranoid the entire cartel was about to come after them.

Some time afterwards he blows up a nursing home killing 3 people (who I'm guessing Skyler thought were 3 random old geezers). Then Walt's like "lolz they dead. I'll be back for dinner" At that point anyone would be fearful for there life and wanna get away from him.

Not to mention you know.. cooking crystal meth.

Why did fans love Rhea Seehorn and not Anna Gunn?
Tons of reasons. Anna Gunn got some sort of plastic surgery on her face, in the middle of the show, and it made her face look radically different. It was beyond distracting that a suburban ABQ housewife now looked like a plastic Hollywood actress. Imagine if after season two Rhea Seehorn looked like Madonna and the audience was constantly shit on for being "sexist" for bringing it up and then told "she just had a cortisone shot, it was not surgery". One of the actresses from The Boys, Erin Moriarty, just did the same exact thing by butchering her face with fillers and surgery and the social media sites and forums banned the topic.

People also hate Skyler. Skyler cheats on Walt and acts like a total whore when her husband has cancer. Skyler smokes when pregnant like a complete cunt. Skyler repeatedly emasculates Walt and browbeats him over trivial things and basically stresses him out when he has cancer. Her character is a bitch from top to bottom. And a huge hypocrite who loves Walt's money and power and encourages his crime life until it impacts her personally. The actress also overacted all of her scenes. The cringe inducing Happy Birthday singing. Her screaming at Walt to give Holly back like something out of a cheap soap opera. She never should have won any awards.

one thing i think kids might want to consider, is you can write a detailed world without every single detail actually mattering.

the whole "GENE WENT TO NEBRASKA SO KIM HAS TO HAVE BEEN HIS NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR"

maybe he just went to Nebraska because he missed kim and wanted something that was in some way close to her? iunno, I just feel like because of shit like the MCU, media literacy has been at an absolute all time low and not every single line or detail in a show has to actually amount to anything and when you have a detailed tv show in today's day and age some people go apeshit like a schizophrenic looking at number patterns when it doesn't all tie together.

is it just me or

Overacted? i can think of one example in the famous i am the danger bit which was spotty but idk she seemed to portray a realistic bitch wife so well people still hate her

feet. That plus she plays more of a cooperative role in jimmy’s schemes. I think part of people’s hate of skyler is she stops the fun part of the shoe. Especially when people are watching an episode a week when it aired, same thing with fly. People want to have the most plot development possible when it’s a delayed transaction unlike with binging

Skyler isnt even a strong female character, shes just annoying for the first half of BB, although she gets better when she finally breaks bad and starts helping Walter. Even looks-wise she is really annoying to look at, especially her eyes. She's also somewhat hypocritical, she didn't divorce Walt when she could and decided to cooperate with him instead, although at least she didn't complain much about it or act like a victim except to save her family.

Kim is smart, interesting, pretty, and not obnoxious. She also isn't overbearing or dominant over Jimmy, they seem like an actual couple, you can tell she's an intelligent, nice lady at heart, even if she is up to mischief from time to time. She's an actual strong female character, and the actress and character are humble about it. Also, as far as I know there aren't any forced articles about how Kim Wexler is the strong female character we need, she just is.

I don't really hate Skyler much apart from her annoying parts and her actress, though.

The best part of watching Skyler is ironically when she can actually get to show off how smart she is while helping Walt, through extorting/manipulating Ted and dealing with the car wash.

I knew Skyler was a cunt right from the very beginning of the series:

Skyler didn't have the good sense to leave. She was an accomplice, she knew it, but she still wanted to be absolved of responsibility. She's sort of like Carmela in the Sopranos. She wants all the benefits without any of the consequences. She's a hypocrite.

Kim never pretended to be just a little woman along for the ride. She orchestrated everything that led to Howard's death. She knows it and accepts responsibility for it. She's willing to settle for Miracle Whip and "Yep yep yep" which has to be some sort of circle of hell.

Schizo rant
Back then, nazis were still universally agreed-upon as being the evil to end all evils, having walt kill the moral equivalent of cannon fodder to avenge Jesse was a low-effort way of redeeming his character.

rural south
Neo-nazi gangs almost never operate in the deep south in as much numbers as they do in states such as california, arizona or new mexico

I thought Anna Gunn did a great job because this is the typical suburban wife in action. Even the overacting. It’s just that the typical suburban wife is a bitch and that’s why the Karen meme got to be so popular. Skyler was a Karen to the very end.

Forgot to insert the quote, whoops. Replying to @Punchoboe :

Why did fans love Rhea Seehorn and not Anna Gunn?

Skyler vs. Walt was originally a zero-sum game for the story -- if she'd persuaded him for most of the show's run, it would've suddenly ended with "and then Walt sat at home and waited to die." Boring, unless you're a big Arthur Miller fan I guess.

Kim vs. Jimmy was a tug of war between two plots that were both appealing and I would've been down to watch either, so I was entertained no matter who was driving the action.

BB was partly a portrait of a very dysfunctional marriage and how people behave within it. There are dependencies and codependencies, there are kids involved, she's fucking pregnant and forty ffs with a husband who is dying, who she then discovers is involved in a very dangerous illegal enterprise; that he's been lying and putting himself and ultimately her and the kids in danger. She stays bonded to him out of fear and greed. Those two states can and do exist simultaneously because circumstances and people are complex even outside of discovering your husband is a violent drug kingpin.

Skyler is no less complex than Kim is. It's always been a bit disturbing how angry simpletons reject her humanity and reduce her down to base stereotypes.

Bitch
Cunt
Whore
Funsucker

Skyler never plotted to methodically ruin an innocent man's life for shits and giggles and ultimately got him murdered for it, but sure, Kim good Skyler bad. Food good, fire bad.

INNYHOO.

What I wanted from the end of BB was for fucking Walt to get a modicum of redemption. That's all. I got what I wanted. I have no idea what I want from the end of Saul because I feel his nature is irredeemable and I'm so disgusted by his cumulative actions. Kim as well. I'm not sure her banal suburban life is enough suffering for me, but I guess I'll have to take it. I have no fucking idea what I want for Jimmy.

Man, I have loved this show. The writing, the character developments and arcs, the storytelling; the expansive emotional gamut of it all. Fucking amazing. Not perfect, but fucking amazing nonetheless. I can't wait to see how it ends.

I could understand getting burned out by a hard economic situation and constant tard wrangling, but in the end Skyler just felt like a toxic person who never supported a fucking dying cancer patient she married to, to the point that her husband treated a former student more as a family than his own and probably drove him into making his drug career his new life. Not to mention that some of her actions went beyond what an sympathetic person would reasonably do, such as cheating on her husband as a fuck you. Plus his initial reason for entering the drug trade was having Skyler and their son have a chance at a decent living, which is pretty selfless.

Why do you think Walt deserved redemption? Do you think he is fundamentally a good person in a way Jimmy isn't?

Walt literally could have asked Elliot and Gretchen for money but he was too proud to beg. Walt could have quit the meth business multiple times but chose not too. Walt absolutely destroyed that marriage. All the blame lies on him.

Walt's not a saint, but his actions are treated as wrong and he suffers tremendously through the series. Plus you can sympathize with the fact he has absolutely nothing besides the drug business to define him, even before getting too deep
