Better Call Saul

Seems like it would be smarter to destroy the body chemically or dispose of it somewhere that isnt your drug lab.

Id like to think Gus is smarter than that.
It's already a secret, hidden drug lab, so why not hide a dead body there? It's not like you're going to be in more trouble if your highly illegal drug lab is found and they also happen to find a dead body in it.

Should i watch saul or breaking bad first all the memes have made me want to watch the show

Yeah gonna pretend that animation doesn't exist but accept the fact that AMC+ is going to try and pull some retarded shit with the Breaking Bad universe after BCS rightfully wraps everything up for good.

Gilligan’s going to fucking do it again, isn’t he.

What’s felt like a decade of slow burn and promises of compelling endings for various character arcs is just going to actually result in all non-BB continuity characters being killed off.

And sorry, I’ll be the contrarian - Lalo is just another unkillable terminatoresque bad guy trope. I mean, tracking down Gunther’s wife like that? Really? I’m surprised he hasn’t asked anyone for their clothes, boots and fucking motorcycle.

Not too pleased where this last season is heading. I sure hope I am proven wrong.

He was apparently a rather well known architect. Once Lalo knew who he was, why would finding his wife pose any particularly great difficulty?

Structural Engineer, wasn’t it?

Had someone gunned down my family in cold blood, it would be mighty impressive for me to travel from the US dustbowl to Western Europe, make my way to Germany, find a dead man’s wife AND learn enough about her movements to conveniently appear in her watering hole of choice - in what appeared to be a very short time.

I’m not one for obsessing over realism in dramas but come on, he’s just another TBag from Prison Break. Can’t be killed and can do anything, anytime, anywhere with no effort.

Calling it now. Lalo survives, tracks down Saul or whatever his name is now in Omaha or wherever he is now. Moments before Lalo shoots Saul outside his house, a taxi car comes barreling down the road and runs over Lalo, killing him. Saul is saved by that cabby from like, 2 seasons ago or something.

My money’s on the black HHM intern from season 2… erm, he isn’t dead, is he?

He has access to millions of dollars. That makes a lot of things easier. Why wouldn't he have money stashes? Probably when he killed Sylvia and the other guy in that house, he picked up whatever he left there first.

I'd say the Cousins were far more invulnerable seeming Terminator types.

He has access to millions of dollars; sure - but don’t forget, everyone ‘cept Don Hector thinks he’s dead. In a crime cartel, that surely massively restricts his resources, his ability to get the help he needs to stake out and travel to another continent so swiftly, etc.

And the cousins have shades of T2, sure - but they aren’t trotting the globe wiping out everything in their path without breaking a sweat. Lalo is, and just call it personal opinion, but to me it really upsets the balance of the show, having a nemesis stalker when the five previous seasons have skilfully depicted knife-edge advantages and clever methods for each character to get where he’s going.

Plenty of you like this arc and that is fine. I’m just saying that I was hoping for something more refined and ingenious for a finale to this great show, than a race to the death. Maybe my expectations were too high.

99% of people who watch BB or BCS do not criticize the show. So pointing out any plot holes or bad writing will just get you attacked by the fandom. The BB universe has entered into Sopranos territory where the fans only just spam quotes from the show at each other and cannot have any meaningful discussion. It is all about memes or inside jokes with no depth at all.

But characters having extreme plot armor is one of the driving themes of the BB universe. Walt basically lucks his way into being a cartel boss. Mistakes after mistakes but always wins no matter how stupid or silly the writing is. Magic exploding fake meth? Giant magnets? Trunk machine gun? Cancer just stopping for the plot? They even parody it in the show by having Jesse scream "he can't keep getting away". Walt is not really a teacher turned into Scarface. He is a teacher turned into the Terminator. Because when characters have plot armor in the BB universe they are like Terminators and simply cannot be stopped. And when they lose their plot armor they instantly become retarded like Hank, deciding to go into the desert alone to meet Heisenberg the most dangerous man he has ever dealt with, with no backup. Lalo will die in a retarded way the second his plot armor runs out. The fans will praise it.

Yes Lalo is a silly character compared to characters from something like The Wire or The Sopranos. But the entire premise of these shows are stupid and are meant to be over the top. Walt goes from high school chemistry teacher to destroying entire drug cartels in a year. Jimmy goes from a public defender and elder case lawyer to handling cartel murders for a boss in a year or two. Vince Gillian himself described the shows as almost being 'fantasy'. They are meant to be absurdist.

And you should have expected a race to the death for every character in BCS that does not appear in the BB timeline. Because them being dead really is the most logical explanation for why they are not around or mentioned in BB. Why is Chuck not mentioned? Jimmy hates him still. Howard? Jimmy wants to forget everything that happned there. Lalo? Mentioned once directly by Saul, mentioned indirectly by Gus (Salamancas all dead). Nacho? Mentioned once by Saul. Kim? They inserted her into BB through the Ice Station Zebra company indicating she is still alive. This stuff could be predicted in the second season.

They basically telegraphed the plot already for the last season. Nacho dies (something many fans predicted). Howard dies by the cartel (most fans predicted Howard would die, guessing suicide, but some said it would be the cartel). Kim disappears and reappears in the Gene timeline (the Ice Station Zebra shell company is the biggest clue). Lalo dies and is buried in the lab (Gus rehearsing the lights going out in the lab is a major indicator that something will happen in the lab, also Gilligan practically blurted out that we will see the lab differently when we watch BB). And Gene will become Jimmy again and the color will return in his life when he meets Kim.

Try watching Breaking Bad first before getting into Saul.
I watch BCS first (well up to S4, which was all that was out at the time), but I'd say starting with Breaking Bad first would be better. When you see Jimmy, you won't be wondering forever why the fuck Saul was called Jimmy, or why we're focusing so much on this parking attendant.

Granted, the reveal of Mike's past wiping out the dirty cops was way more fucking hardcore not knowing that Mike is basically Gus' personal terminator beforehand.

I would hardly characterize just going to Germany as an amazing feat. The Gunt went to Portugal twice recently. I also wouldn't call letting Casper get the drop on him and break his ribs with the blunt end of an axe particularly invulnerable. If Casper hadn't (equally stupidly) not opted for the sharp end it would have been bye bye Lalo.

I think I explained it as more than ‘just going to Germany’. And how quickly did Lalo recover from said axe to the ribs? C’mon.

You won’t convince me, I won’t convince you. Fine. I just hope we get something a bit more inventive for the rest of the show than ‘Lalo mops up the rest of the loose ends with his .44’
