Billy Mitchell has been stripped of all his high scores, banned from competitive gaming

The ragequit should at least be memorable.

There was a video floating around showing him switching out PCB's during an event because one was defective. And some people felt something screwy was going on because the PCB's didn't match up correctly. I can't seem to find it because Youtube is even more flooded with Billy Mitchell videos now.

His smug attitude always rubbed me the wrong way. Now the one thing that made him famous has been taken away. Yet he enjoyed it for decades so it doesn't matter so much I guess. They can take away his scores but they can't erase everything those scores got him over the years.

You're right about Billy's emulator use being shady - he certainly has the original DK machine. The only real reason to use an emulator would be to make cheating easier to do and harder to detect. Billy recently claimed he has proof he didn't cheat, but hasn't actually given said proof.

ALL of his scores on Twin Galaxies were wiped, regardless of how legit they appeared. Most notably, he was the first person to have gotten a perfect score in Pac-Man, but that title now officially belongs to Rick Fothergill. It's surprising that TG would bring down the hammer on Billy so hard when they fervently defended him in the past, but maybe the Todd Rogers fiasco made them careful about their image. Besides, if he lied in regards to one score it puts most of his other scores into question.
 
Sorry for necro-bumping, but there's some drama envolving Billy that should be noticed by the Farms. For those who don't know, the youtuber Apollo Legend made a video about Mitchell 2 years ago:

Billy wasn't happend about it and threatens Apollo:

And he finally did it... Billy Mitchell confirms his place as the Maddox of speedruns and sues Apollo Legend by 1 million dollars. I'm kinda surprised this guy or the TG crew don't have a thread on KF yet.

is there a case for a counter claim? looks like that's the strategy apollo wants to go but i know jack shit about the Legal system in the US

Apollo's specifically talking about suing Billy for defamation in response. Which seems...dubious. I'm not sure that Billy has actually said anything that would rise to the level of defamation about Apollo. Perhaps he has, though. I'm not sure how much I'd want to dig into that one.

I did find the court filing for the suit against Twin Galaxies, which is entertaining reading on it's own:

It's also had an anti-SLAPP motion filed against it by Twin Galaxies:

I was unable to find the filing against Apollo or any of the others, though I imagine they're fairly similar (they're meanies that called me a cheater). Supposedly, according to this article I found on Ars Technica (archive) the complaints were filed in April of last year so that he could stay within the statute of limitations, though somehow didn't get to the defendants until months later, which seems...odd.

Apparently, there's a hearing on the anti-SLAPP motion by TG scheduled for July, though who knows with Corona-chan around if it'll happen then or later.

Depending on where this goes, it might be a candidate for the LLC board.
