I've always believed that free speech is less of a God given right and more of an ideal that society should strive for. You will never quite reach that ideal, it just isn't practical. There has to be some level of flexibility in how we apply our values. I know a lot of people disagree with me but I just don't see how absolute free speech can work for the world we live in.

The same goes for websites. The Farms is a lot more lenient with what it allows but the are limits even here because there has to be. I feel like you have your gun metaphor backwards. It isn't about what you shouldn't say and is about what you can say. You probably shouldn't laugh at fat retards with cancer or make fun of mentally handicapped nutcases but you do because you can, because there isn't a law to say you can't (for now anyway).

I think I agree with you here, about free speech being an ideal that we all should strive for. A moral imperative, I suppose, like fitness or education: you and I and everyone may never reach the pinnacle of perfection but the journey is what matters, if we don't make it there that's okay as long as we tried as hard as we could.

While I hate to see it happen in general, the future of this site (and others) is likely behind a paywall. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with a modest registration fee for new users. I would have paid it when Articles was made private. The existing user base is healthy and in fact it was an established member (?) who committed felony retard.

I will miss happenings, as it was a good place to archive ongoing news stories with propagandist trying to run cover, like the riots over the summer. A&H was always weak. Just a few days ago I posted an obvious troll post, with at least 5 people taking the bait.

There's a world of difference between "T can see why people would want to do X to Y and you're a faggot if you don't get it., maybe someone if came after you and did X, then you'd understand" and what SIGSEGV posted. Even my example skirts the line, not enough to get party van but it raises an eyebrow or two.
