Something that always annoys me about shoplifters who claim they steal because 'they're sticking it to the corporations' - especially communists like this Asian chick - is that it is rarely ever a big dent in the bottom line for the likes of Wal-Mart or Best Buy or what have you. It's a big deal for the people who work in the store you're stealing from, you know, the workers they claim to support.
Loss prevention as a whole is taken seriously by big corporations, and the people who take the brunt of it are the lowly store managers and those below them. Having an expensive item stolen on your time isn't something that an employee can easily live down, even if there wasn't something they could do or were even aware of. Slip-ups are recorded on managerial reviews, such as how much shrinkage occured while you were on the clock.
While loss prevention encompasses multiple aspects, including human errors like items accidentally breaking or administrative slip-ups, corporations keep a tight watch on the big picture. Many business require managers to take full day courses on prevention, if not having break rooms adorned with posters/fliers constantly talking about it. A store with continued shrinkage issues will likely face consequences, and that goes on the little guy just trying to be a good wage slave.

I'm rather curious about that paper. It lists the authors as H.J. Suh, Alaowei Y Amanah, and Jessica M Gluck.
If I look for it elsewhere (here for example. - archive), the second and third authors are unchanged, but HJ Suh is replaced by Taylor Cook Suh of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science Department, NCSU.
I don't know what that means. Did they change their name at some point?

It's not surprising mostly because these kinds of ideologies are appealing specifically if you have a sheltered lifestyle. They don't understand that life doesn't work like how it's written in the Communist Manifesto. They've never worked in one of the jobs they "stand up for", or been given any perspective to just how good they have it here in Capitalist American vs. some Communist shithole. Hopefully this experiment would make them reflect on their beliefs, but most likely they'd just whine on Twitter on how the "racist capitalist pigs" worked against them and run back to mommy and daddy.

CHAZ was nothing more than a protest camp set up in a few blocks of a city. Their was no direction or purpose to it and the thing eventually whittled away. A lot of leftists weren't impressed with the whole affair. It repeated a lot of the same mistakes that occurred with Occupy Wall Street protests.
