If this needs to be moved to another place or merged with an existing thread, then please do. I seriously look for an av hardware/setup thread and didn't find out.

Bought this at Walmart the other day on clearance for $45 down from $90 and I have to say, so far it works great.

Had a cable box in the bedroom that was hardly ever used that was costing us $10/month extra, so I was hoping I could use this transmitter/receiver setup to replace it. This transmits through the first floor up to the second floor where our master bedroom is just fine.

I'd recommend buying one of these while they're still available at this cheap price.

Is it Bluetooth or WiFi?

This is something I might need to invest in.
You know, I'm not sure. I'll have to investigate that and get back to you.
I wouldn't be surprised if it were wifi, though. Almost everything is.

@Just A Butt
Edit: had to check my available WiFi network list and it is indeed operating on WiFi. It's weird though because it's not referenced anywhere on the box, instructions, official website, or even on the product itself.
Not sure why they thought to leave that information a secret, but there you go.

Neat piece of kit. As a neophyte HAM radio sperg, I may have to look into its transmission capabilities. looks like a great way to save money... if I still had a TV subscription.

What this forum really needs is a technology subforum. There is a definite need for it, in my opinion anyway.

I am not a pedo and have no desire for an always on blackweb hotspot in my home. All that's going to do is get a bunch of diddlers to park in front of my house while they jerk off all day. No thanks. I'm just shocked that retail stores would sell this kinda thing.

Pedo plz go, this is "raping children" free zone.

This Walmart-Blackweb stuff has very poor quality control. I got one of their Bluetooth speakers for use in 24 hr sound broadcast, and it burned out the battery in 1 month of use. Even when plugged in to electrical 24/7, the battery cannot build up enough of a charge to operate the speaker. Basically bricked now.

Thankfully these don't work off any kind of battery. As a somewhat related side-note, NEVER buy the Lowe's Kobalt battery-powered series of lawn tools.
The batteries always fail just a few months after the warranty ends, and you can't even pull the "buy a new one and then return the old on in the new one's packaging" trick because they significantly change the look of the product every year.
Almost seems like they know the batteries suck and totally do it on purpose.

Lowe's is ass. The only thing I must give them credit for is their Kobalt oil-less compressor. That thing is a beast. Those Home Depot Craftsman compressors will burn out after like 6 months and the design is just awful (no way to access/repair internals, very poor heat radiation setup, etc) and only the free warranty ensures that I can get replacements at no cost. But the Kobalt has a great design with all parts accessible and very easy to cool and it just keeps going and going, and I think it will easily outlive the term of the warranty.
