Since they're shitty people themselves, any idea they have on what an ideal person should be is warped. So the protagonists are "heroes" who act way more like villains.

It's impressive how easily you can guess another person's character simply by how they write their protagonists, and try to depict them as in the right even when they do horrible/idiotic things.

Precisely. And fuck me sideways, these guys are always so fucking insufferable. I'm much more moderate than I used to be, and I've got nothing to thank the left, and this genera of leftists in particular for it. These guys always act like they are either better than everyone else and inherently morally superior, and it isn't even a matter of something being wrong with their philosophical leanings (it would be ridiculous to suggest that an entire worldview has absolutely nothing worth of value), it's simply because they are unwilling to tolerate and engage with people that hold other views in any way but acting like total hostile assholes!

I like to think about my childhood, when I was taught that we are all equals and there's nothing wrong with being of a different race and/or sexuality, that people have their own faiths and it's fine, and so on. Those lessons held on precisely because they were taught by engaging positively with us children, not by being completely arrogant, dismissive and abrasive! Just look at this comic, where most of the time the "punchline" is that you either agree with the authors or you're some subhuman pile of horseshit that deserves to suffer violence. How is that going to convince anyone?!

Assigned Male is one of the worst comics I have ever seen in my lifetime, and I like to read shit that is so bad that you can't help but laugh at the shitshow you're witnessing. Fuck, even this Blobfish one is better than that considering the art style is at least decent (no matter the god awful writing), while there isn't a single likeable issue of Assigned Male, it's Labelle's outlet for raving schizoposting. And I agree entirely, these guys never grew up and still hold childish delusions of being the greatest human beings alive while everyone else that dares to disagree with them should suffer!

I miss the days when aliens went either "We came from afar and in peace, take us to your leader and/or let's talk" or just started armageddon then and there upon reaching the surface of planet Earth. Hell, even the ones with some kind of message, like The Day The Earth Stood Still, made it entertaining and nuanced.

Now it is "let me spout something the authors want to bash you over the head with, and let the secondaries fully agree with it, and let our social pages add that this is the message we all should follow." Even the Chick Tracts had something of a plot before reaching out the lesson to be pushed and assimilated.

Besides, something tells me that were peaceful aliens to visit our planet, they would have far more valuable knowledge to share with us than "respect people who most likely only exist in your planet anyway".
