Just walk past dude. If anything, having someone suddenly act like that when they have been walking behind me (which I probably wouldn't even notice anyway, since I would be too busy walking/thinking of literally anything else) would freak me out more than just silently walking past.

It's only creepy if they're keeping step with you. Speed up, slow down, walk past. Don't make a big deal over it.

Still can't believe this comic is not a troll trying to make the left look bad. Hard to imagine doing something this shitty in full earnest.

My main gripes with it are:

1. The distracting anime/adventure time style it has to it. I dunno anything about art at all but this is the first time I've ever noticed something like this. All comics I've seen tend to have a unique and consistent "style" that you can kinda go along with. Even xkcd with the stick figures is more or less consistent. This comic seems to not know whether it's a manga or a Western ripoff of Adventure Time and it irritates me to no end how often it just bounces between the two randomly. Again, I don't know anything about drawing, but this tells me the artist learnt how to draw by just blatantly copying from other media instead of actually learning the basics, observing other media and developing their own style from that. They probably didn't do terribly well in whatever art class/school they went to.

2. The thing with the blue haired loser and the black chick is annoying as fuck and not relatable at all. I don't believe a hot black chick would ever fall for a loser like that, nor would it be awkward with her just hanging around you not dating anyone else and not even making clear whether she's gay or not, but mostly I just don't buy it. It's made worse by the fact that the black chick has no purpose or personality in the comic other than being someone that Blue hair likes and likes her back. At least Charlie has some personality and the guy he likes has been shown to have his own interests like Sports and Art. It comes across like the manic pixie dream girl thing that Blobby and co would no doubt condemn in any media they see. There's no more pathetic way to make yourself feel better about your own loneliness than to invent a hot chick who inexplicably likes you even though you're an irritating cunt. For some reason I've never been more irritated at a self-insert love fantasy than this one, and I've read Sonichu.

It's more commonly known as the "Cal-Arts style" and it's everywhere today. The term was coined by Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi as being something simple with thin lines, round shapes and having a flat appearance. It's much simpler than learning classical animation and it's made it's way into webtoons as well like this one.

As the old saying goes, "a fish has no concept of air until it jumps out of the water". When all you're surrounded by is the same things, it gets to be normal. When everybody you're with says the same things then you just accept it as the way the world is. It's only later when you step outside of your bubble do you see the world isn't what you thought it was.

And because the writer of this comic never sets foot outside of the hugbox they live in, they're never going to understand that most people look at it as being absolute crap.

But I...

Didn't this hole do like 5000 strips about how men complimenting women is wrong and rape, why is it now okay?
Yeah but that was then. You're not supposed to go back and bring those things up. It's only what she feels now that matters.

And if you do then it's a loooooong explanation of why it's okay here but bad there.

Nah man. I know the Cal Arts style. Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Steven Universe etc. Every single one of those I've seen, while shitty and unoriginal in their own way, actually do have a consistent and unique style to them e.g. the dot eye+bean mouth "worried face" is undeniably Adventire Time.

The Art of Blobby however seems to be shitty fanart of an Adventure Time OC in a world that also has people looking like whatever Charlie looks like and sometimes uses anime physics. Just fucking pick one. Manga/Anime that have their MC look distinctly different from everyone else like OnePunch man and Oyasumi Punpun have reasons that are very important to the story. Blue hair loser looks like a low res version of everyone else for no real reason. It's very distracting and annoying to me.

What a sad existence. I almost pity them.

It's only about 30 years old at this point.

LA Story from 1991:

I don't know how accurate it was but supposedly some expensive type restaurants were serving tiny portions but for outrageous prices. This cartoon just seems to be reinforcing that idea.
I was being sarcastic. The whole "expensive restaurant serves tiny overpriced portions" joke has been done to death.
