Is there a way to to get Event characters or just waiting for a rerun? Also are event characters good? They are 1 star but I assume the point is that by the end of the event you get them to 3.

Swimsuit Shizuko, Track Hasumi, Fubuki, Swimsuit Ayane, Maid Yuzu are must-gets if you mean stuff in the event archive

Swimsuit Shizuko is a great shielder and buffer, Track Hasumi is a quite decent blue attacker, Fubuki is semi-required for any boss that requires CC, Swimsuit Ayane is a meta pick for PVP, and Maid Yuzu is a great red AOE but without as much attacking area as other red special AOEs.

For future events that will get rerun, look out for Idol Mine. Idol Mine is pretty much required for Geburah as well (Insane difficulty and above), cause she has a low-cost skill that moves your team, and Insane+ Geburah freezes your team if you stay still for too long.

Swimsuit Koharu is also quite decent, cheap blue AOE that has synergy with Swimsuit Hanako. She should come sooner than Idol Mine.

Man, volume 3 went hard compared to Volume 2. Having to use your own units to beat the chapter was a pretty cool moment (but i can understand others hating it if they not fully into the gacha).

Sensei could care less about fate, the meaning of life or eden. He just wants to look after his students like any good teacher should!

If you miss welfare event characters then usually you have no choice but to wait for it to rerun or when it gets added to the event archive permanently.

That said, even if you have them at 1* you can still buy their fragments if you so chooses. And well, you kind of expected to make them go to 3* because most of their skills are pretty much locked unless you do so.

Finishing the event in the archive gives the character at least?

First mission usually gives the character, while the last one gives enough eleph to 2* them (with the exception of Track Hasumi).

It was really retarded of the anime adaption not to start with Volume 3. It's so much better than the first two it's not even close.

I think Volume 1 is a good introduction to the setting and the world building with its "small" stakes. Volume 3 could have been a perfect season two and Voulme 2 is just filler that can be mostly ignored.

At most do Volume 1 as ova like Fate GO did with its tutorial, the characters there are just too generic. With a full on anime either go all the way or not bother.

Him, Black Suit and the other (former) members of Gematria have been very strongly implied to be prior sensei. As Black Suit had warned Sensei to not use that "card" too many times when they first met.
