Finally finished reading the story, I feel like they learned a lot of lessons from the blunder that is v1c3, first up, both the setup and the motivations are better set up, Nagusa feels guilty about Ayame's disappearance because not only she's directly responsible(to an extent) but also she was also there to see it happen with her own eyes. Compare that to "Yume just runs off into the desert one day and fucking DIES, Hoshino feels awful about it but doesn't show it to anyone, ever, not even in private".
Ayame's heel turn was interesting though, we've been shown that this external corrupting power that is kinda like chaos from warhammer 40k twists people's feelings so it just latched onto Ayame's burnout and twisted it into something sinister, in c1 Churro tried to pull the same thing off on yukari but she was able to hold on somewhat, and I don't think that seeing that jobber Nagusa wield the hundred lotus like that and be Kuzunoha's chosen is doing any favours anyway it's interesting, I'm curious on how this is going to play out.
speaking of which I am SICK AND TIRED of kuzunoha and her bullshit, her le epic GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS bullshit, it's not compelling it's annoying.
As usual I really like the character interactions, there's genuine chemistry between the hyakkayouran, I look forward to the 2nd part
