I’m on bluesky and the amount of porn on there with no warning is insane. I mostly follow politics and sports on there but every so often there’s male on male action just right in my feed, not behind a greyed out screen or warning or anything.
A lot of famous people are already leaving to focus on Threads. BlueSky has some cool people but there’s also always the person who doesn’t get the joke, and the person critiquing your alt text (it’s not there or it’s a short description not a full transcript). It’s the most autistic people in the world basically.
As far as the weird porn, I use the report button then block but it doesn’t change anything. It is really disconcerting. They need to handle it better because a lot of it is weird fetish stuff (adult babies threatening to piss themselves, foot stuff etc) and almost no one is looking for that, we want soccer or baseball.
Ana Valens BTW has a fundraiser for rent on there. Also not sure how that ended up in my feed, but it’s not high rent just $1200 or $1400 or so and she can’t work to make that money? When I was building a career I did dogsitting as a side job, if I was short sometimes I’d ask clients to pay half up front and half when they got back.
When I got known as a responsible sitter, people would contact me and offer to pay for all their ski weekends up front. So over $1k sometimes and I’d just save or invest half of it.
Life is full of ups and downs, I feel bad for cancer patients or young people who are in what sounds like legitimate trouble.
But who are these grown adults who can’t get $1200 together in spite of a huge online following, name recognition etc - Ana Valens can’t find a way to do a paid speaking gig once a week or something? Why is it always a go fund me with these drama queens?
