Bars are small physical places that generally require a pleasant/tolerable and somewhat homogenous vibe to succeed. In order to maintain that vibe, you might need to do things like enforce a dress code or throw out anyone you don't like the look of.

Social media platforms require the exact opposite. They need to establish a network effect to succeed, and that requires being open to anyone who isn't directly breaking their limited rules! Especially when they are just starting up!

(I assume Bluesky users make this mistake because they have never actually been to a bar, as that would require taking off their soiled animal onesie and their N95 mask and leaving the house)
 
Let this serve as a lesson in blackpilling the Bluesky creators, the fact troons can't be reasoned with should be realized as early and often as possible.

The funny thing is that social media is more like a massive city, where you will have the Nazi bar on the outskirts of town and a whole bunch of other bars all existing in the same space and for the most part it benefits everyone if the gay bar and the Nazi bar avoid each other outside of the one gay Nazi bar for that middle section of the ven diagram.

I think the ceo has realized that blueskay has become "the site." A designated site on the web that hosts a particular audience. This audience is the one caustic enough to make verizon loose hundreds of millions of dollars on the buyout of tumblr, made twitter unbearable for a few years, and are now becoming a problem for bluesky. This audience tanks a lot of networks because their nature is so caustic that no other profitable users want to stay on the platform.

Exactly, with the added bonus that social media sites also have a block function, so in real life that would be like having a button you could press that made the Nazi bar on the outskirts of town (and all its occupants) invisible and incapable of interacting with you.

Yeah I think it reflects one of two things:

1) The CEO has given up and is going to leave soon (maybe unlikely, since the team seems to all be backing her up)

2) They've concluded that things are terrible but it's not too late, and are doubling down on their original ideals for Bluesky, and that involves encouraging a lot of the crazy people to leave or shut up.

The nature of the platform might work in their favor here, since it's a lot harder to organize a centralized crusade on BS than it was on Twitter. People there today seem to have already moved on to debating whether "clanker" is racist.
