It doesn't make sense anyway. Older men with tattoos, like the second guy from the left here, look like grizzled veterans, which is the best you can hope for at that age.

It is normal for tattoos to not look as nice when you get old. I think most people understand that. But the thing is, tattoos can't really hurt you. Holes in your cheeks on the other hand, can. Tattoos don't interfere with the way your body works (unless the ink you got was poisonous or whatever)

Basically... just because you can, doesn't mean you should. People who push the envelope for the sake of pushing the envelope end up pushing it... and pushing it... and pushing it. I have several piercings - nothing extrene. I didn't do it for attention, or defiance, or to be different/"unique". I just wanted to be able to hang pretty jewelry from my ears (shrug) All this shit about stretching out holes in your body or having metal spikes/horns drilled/implanted into your skull, and splitting your penis and getting a dozen piercings through your genitalia and whatever else to "modify" your body seems like a waste of time tbh - seems like all that effort would be better used towards actually taking good care of yourself.

I'm just not sure who's to blame here.
The people who do the procedures? Shit, man, someone offers me $7k or more to split their tongue or give them horns, I will do that shit today, no problem.
The people who get the procedures?
Hell, surgeons, tattoo artists, and piercers gotta eat too. I'm totally cool with some freakshow paying to support hardworking folks.
I dunno, I'll grant that this shit is bananas, but I'm not seeing the bad guy here. So long as you're not on welfare or leeching off someone, if you want to spend your cash on being turned into a Hills Have Eyes extra, whatever tickles your peaches, I guess.

Pretty much this. None of these people are asking for other people's tax money to do this shit, nor do they flip shit on you if you look at them or demand you use made up pronouns for them.

I'm sure there's some sperglord or another out in this community that does exactly that. And I'm sure the rest of them mock the shit out of them. In fact, I'd be delighted to know what kind of person would be considered a lolcow in body mod circles.

Oh shit I actually know a dude who's done half this stuff. Won't post him because powerlevel (plus hes actually a really nice guy) but yeah he has horn implants, tattooed eyeballs, scarification and I believe last I checked he was gonna get cheek tunnels with clear plugs so you can see right into his gob. Asked why the fuck and his answer was along the lines of not feeling 'right' without all that crap. Didnt believe him when he said he wasnt the most extreme case out there, guess I owe the dude a drink now.

BME's hayday was over 7, 8 yrs ago already. At the height of the sites popularity the founder/owner of the site Shannon Larrat was in divorce proceedings and his ex wife offered custody their (then) toddler daughter in exchange for ownership of the website. Since he wasn't a fucking monster and loved his kid he said yes and the agreement was he wouldn't be involved with BME for several years. Because trading your child for a website is disgusting, the majority of the original community left (many free features and accounts were also taken away by the new "management" which also helped). Not long after that Shannon started devoloping mysterious health issues that were eventually diagnosed as a genetic muscle disorder that would leave him in severe pain and slowly cripple him. He lived in Canada so affording healthcare wasnt an issue. He ran a personal blog focused on making art and spending as much time as possible with his girlfriend and kid before passing away 3 or 4 yrs ago from his condition. Sad day.

Is the ex-wife considered some kind of "Yoko Ono" figure for this community? (and yes, I know Yoko didn't actually tear apart John and the Beatles, its just a common metaphor)
 
To be fair I know a lot of people with body modifications and most of them aren't whiny little bitches who demand you treat them like they are deer frolicking through the forest,accusing others of telepathically mind raping them or leeching off of their own made up community or the welfares.

Hell I have facial piercings and tattoos and it's never stopped me from getting a decent job I just take them out when I work and cover my tats and act normal , but jesus how high do you have to be to punch out a third of your face or give yourself a starfish wiener.... can starfish wieners even feel anything? wouldn't the nerves all be destroyed? Damn it I need some answers here.
