I think there's a couple of reasons. The gameplay reminds people of Bob's (and my) generation of Sega's Night Trap, which was infamous in its day and is hilariously dated now. He's an intensely prejudiced person, so as stated earlier it's non-Nintendo and I believe the unappealing (to Bob) gameplay makes the game inherently inferior, and all those who enjoy it being Untermensch with lowly tastes. I also think there's an element of the game's deep lore creating resentment, because Bob can't claim "omni-geek" expertise over the game as easily as he can Marvel and DC characters (using wikipedia and presenting already-published-in-comics-ideas as his own suggestions to his comics-ignorant followers). FNAF is a deep dive and Bob is frankly just too old and internet-addicted to really "get into" anything else in life. He has his "expertises" and he sits upon his throne speaking on them, and the superior people will listen and validate him. God I fucking hate my fellow nerds nowadays.

I actually watched the FNAF film. If you are or were a fan, played the games, or at least watched a lot of the matpat videos, you're in for a good time. Going with Blumhouse for a small budget but complete creative control was absolute genius. It made more in liquid cash than any blockbuster this year, that is insane.

I remember when gas was finally getting under $2 a gallon, I could stock my fridge, freezer, and pantry for under $100 and I still cared about and could afford to go to the movies. Same goes for all of those people who went to see Captain Marvel, a movie I may remind everyone cost around $175 million and brought home $1.3 billion, despite being told not to watch it by the lead actress if you were an icky man. Perhaps part of the reason was that they were marketing Captain Marvel as being essential viewing before End Game, the climax of a ten year cinematic journey. Perhaps part of the reason of the very low opening is that Captain Marvel ended up having fuck all to do with and in End Game and cash strapped nerds can't afford to have their hands burnt a second time. Perhaps the jangling keys of having a CGI Hank McCoy teaser at the end is not enough to entice anyone to give a shit.

Or maybe we're just all racist and sexist and are unwilling to give a movie made by a black female director a chance just like Cuties.

I really hope that all of these media companies continue this trend of pouring millions of dollars into shit that nobody either working on it or may consoom it cares about not because I kust want them to fail (the world is too fake and gay for that to happen) but because I want people like Bob to screech into an ever increasing, uncaring void. I want Bob to directly tell people they should suffocate because they didn't get excited for new product. I want Bob to tell bereaved family members that their dead loved one's life didn't matter because the dead like youtuber X.
