Ok so we have the basic joke.
"Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side."
We'll call this level 0. It's basically a joke with very minimum requirements. If you can understand the language, you can probably get it, even if you don't find it that funny.

This is level 2. The entire humor of the joke is based upon the fact that the previous 2 levels exist below it and that the audience is familiar with the ubiquity of them to then see the humor in this. This is where we start getting into the meta level of humor where the joke is less about something specific and more about the existence of jokes themselves.

Obviously there's probably levels 3 and 4 out there too. (If you've had in-jokes for many years with VERY old friends, you'll probably notice this pattern repeating itself there)

Anyway, when you read some of Bob's tweets, you can almost trace exactly how Bob has some kind of vague awareness of this process and so tries to jump straight to a level 2 or 3 joke, without ever realizing that nobody around him are aware of level 0 and 1. I suspect this is mainly for 2 reasons: 1) He has no real theory of mind. 2) He knows making higher level jokes is something smart people do and he wants to appear smart.

So let's take this JD Vance thing and prove why Bob is so bad at humor.

Level 0 - Nobody likes JD Vance. They will ignore whatever he is trying to do.​

Oh my gawd, you are absolutely right. Yes, that's exactly how Bob formulates his "jokes". And the problem here is he's intellectually incapable of pulling off a "Level 1" or "Level 2" joke out of the starting gate. This doesn't just extend to the J.D. Vance nonsense, but it's clearly evident in his other "jokes" like the infamous "'eugenics' joke which is actually complaining about TRAFFIC, friendo!" One of the major supporting planks of the idea that the "eugenics joke" is a "joke" is the concept, which Bob expected everyone to understand without any evidence of said supporting plank prior, is that traffic would be much better if the (unstated by Bob in particular, but we can harbor a sneaking suspicion that Bob means targets = MAGAnaiseghoulen, in a city that's 82.6% (D) voting as of last Election results!) targets of eugenics would be eliminated in sufficient quantity to ease traffic congestion. But as we all know, that's not how shit works. Because Bob incessantly whines about the Red State MAGAnaiseghoulen Wheelbarrow Wight Trash and how they need to be denied existence oxygen in the Wastelands in Minecraft, when he says shit like the Eugenics "joke", it's hard to even make the connection that it's a "joke" as opposed to being absolutely completely fucking serious. He always acts like he wants to be the Q continuum during the Star Trek The Next Generation 2-part finale All Good Things... except he wants Picard to fail. It doesn't help that Bob doesn't have any theory of mind, just like a goddamned Autist.

Bob consistently claims "95% of humanity is Stupid!" but in his neck of the woods, over 85% vote (D), which means a LARGE chunk of Democrats Are Ackshually Stupid Too. And he doesn't even make the connection that he's contradicting himself in regards to the Smartness of Democrats.

But then again this is the Kwisatz Tarderach, who believes that "Eugenics" against huWhite People is not a thing, because Eugenics can only be carried out against the PeeOhCees, Speds, Troons, and Bundles of Sticks. When actions that would equal eugenics is applied to Whitey, it's simply "natural selection" and purging of the Unpersons of Wrongthink who are holding back the Holy Soopeeryah Fyootchah with their "superstitions" and thus depriving Bob of his personal jetpack, his Mario-shka brain for Bing Bing Wahoo forever, in the Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex Body, wheat, and leisurely Trips to Mars with Commander Data clones.

His point is accurate, but it's not a good response to the point that the doctor was making in his tweet.

Early childhood development is where a lot of things can get fucked up, and fucked up bad. Compulsory mask-wearing for not just them, but everyone else around them, likely messed up a lot of kids' ability to learn faces and facial expressions. Add in social distancing (preventing them from learning social behaviors well) and the cancellation of schooling and other activities (preventing them from learning how to make friends), and you've got a lot of children that are now lagging behind where they should be in social skills. Who knows how long it will take for them to make it up? It's possible they never will be at the level they should be. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, sometimes you didn't like that your parents made you eat your vegetables or wear a helmet, but those were things that were actually good for you. It's no comparison to parents willfully (if unintentionally) harming their children.

I fear for the current generation of toddlers, man, they are going to be SO fucked when they reach the teen years. Like, SO fucked, they don't even know. And it'll be expensive to fix. @Flexo - I've often felt/said that lefties like Bob fail at humor because they cannot accept the fundamental building block of non-meta humor is a truth, which is then stretched to extremes in ways you don't expect.

All good jokes start from a true premise - Chickens and roads both exist, are familiar to everyday people, and a chicken is something that could cross a road.

But, full of postmodernist/navel-gazing/feelings-over-facts/no bad targets thinking? He cannot accept there is any truth out there.... aside from his enemies are fucking evil.

So even BEFORE he goes 3 or 4 levels deep into meta humor and esoteric references, He's already lost the plot.

Because he'll engage with you for days on end arguing that chickens and roads either aren't important, aren't real, or can only properly be seen as metaphors for bigger things....

Bob's thought processes and the mental gymnastics he'll go through to support his side in anything they do, no matter how repugnant, will never cease to amaze me. While it's not exactly the same as the Ministry of Truth rewriting history, the "updating for modern audiences" of Roald Dahl's classic literature is no less Orwellian. It's an attempt to remove that which is deemed offensive, not through literal book-burning, but through a more sinister means of subtly removing the originals from stores and only selling the "modern" versions.

while I'm sure there's more to it, I'm betting that Bob's primary concern over Roald Dahl's literature is the "wrong" people (assholes) get their comeuppance. Probably in particular he's likely salty about "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" since he's a combo of Augustus Gloop, Mike TV, Veruca Salt, and Violet Beauregarde all rolled into one exceptional individual.
