That's the case for literally every long-running animated show with child characters that don't progressively age. Bart Simpson went from playing Doom to playing Fortnite. The rebooted Beavis and Butthead show familiarity with figures like Post Malone and Cardi B, despite their designs being carried over from the 90s with AC/DC and Metallica written right on their shirts. Animated shows don't age up their characters because it disrupts the status quo and means having to replace VAs and character models. I still can't believe Lego Dune is real. It seems like one of those things you'd make as a joke. Like the "Saturday Morning Watchmen."

Lego's increasingly gone after the adult enthusiast market in recent years, whether it's playsets based on properties kids wouldn't really be into (like Friends or Seinfeld), detailed recreations of actual objects (like a Vespa scooter or a typewriter), the entire Architecture line, or higher-end sets specifically for display. In that regard, a Dune set isn't out of the question, and an ornithopter makes sense as it's about the only thing from the movie that's small enough to make a minifig-scale set out of; that, and it looks cool.

As @Arthur Morgan pointed out, they did in fact do the same thing Bob did and make fun of longplays. The major difference, aside from doing it first, is that they picked games that were either bad or weird to make fun of, and they were respectful to the longplayers for going to the effort of playing these obtuse games (although I think they questioned the sanity of the Darkseed 2 player with his very repetitive playthrough). They got a lot of mileage out of things like Bruce Willis's one-liners in Apocalypse or Mike Dawson asking everyone if they killed Rita.

What is there to say about a Contra or Altered Beast playthrough? They're well-known games so most people aren't going to be able to provide insightful commentary that hasn't been done before, and they're not bad games either so there's not much to make fun of. Bob had the right idea to shitcan that series, but the wrong idea to even try it in the first place.

Bobby insists, without proof, that Disney was always going to do CGI dwarves in their latest unnecessary live-action remake. He does not state anything about the leaked production photos showing the diverse band of rapscallions with only a single actual dwarf in it, nor does he mention the previously leaked info that all but stated that they were replacing the dwarves with a more diverse cast of characters. Why would those actors be prancing about in full costume if they were just going to be painted over with digital dwarves later? Shouldn't they have been wearing mo-cap suits instead, and, y'know, not have had some of them be women?

Don't get me wrong, if they were going to do yet another unneeded live-action remake, then the smart move would be to include the dwarves and not replace them with a laughable mockery of diversity politics. But this is modern Disney we're talking about, where ideology trumps smart business sense, so the latter is totally the direction they intended on going. To me, it seems pretty obvious that the backlash was more severe than they thought it would be, and so they're whipping their VFX departments to retool this mess into something that bears at least a little more resemblance to the classic fairy tale to win the public back. The strikes are a component, sure, but hardly the main one; I don't think they had such a major impact that we'd be seeing a full year's delay.

Now, I'm willing to admit that I could be wrong, and the diverse band of rapscallions might actually have been an entirely different set of characters from the start, and it was all a huge misunderstanding and they were always going to do a faithful adaptation...but that's an incredible reach knowing what we know about modern Disney, honestly (and why would you have there be specifically seven of them if that were the case, and have one be a dwarf?). And in the end, I honestly don't care, because all Disney live-action remakes are trash, and CGI dwarves won't change that fact about this one.

What Bob intentionally misses is that taking on Disney (back when Disney was still powerful enough to suppress criticism of even their most egregious products) was both edgy and profitable. This allowed channels on Youtube to make money by criticizing Disney products which you wouldn't hear about on the old mainstream film critic sites. Now those channels have an audience and that audience has expectations. Also, they aren't usually just attacks. Sometimes they recommend stuff ( Andor, Prey, etc) and usually the better ones give notes, "Ahsoka would have been better if it had done this rather than that." Oh, and of course ComicsGate is mostly anti-Disney and anti-Warner since they own the big two, but I think even Bob forgets that Marvel is still a comic book brand these days.

So, I watched the Altered Beast one. It was pretty horrible. Looking at this picture, if I didn't know this was Bob's video, I'd think it was Chris's video. Bob actually cared enough about Altered Beast (at least for purposes of this video) to dig up various facts about it. He would mention some of these in the video. Then his family would ignore them and make dick jokes. That pretty much sums it up. The family dynamic was Bob being a bit deferential to Chris and his wife.

For the first couple of years they did that, then troll's remorse set in and they started making fun of games, which is where the 'Dead to Rights' sign off comes from. They also took LPs from longplays.org or got given the footage and credited the players at the start.

But Bob wasn't aware of that because that was when he was too busy getting rejected from TGWTG and mocking people for thinking Other M was a bad game.

Off-topic hot take but I always liked the Wrongpuraes better than the Retsupuraes. There's only so many jokes you can make about camcorders or bad audio, but the adventures of Mike Dawson, Steve the Kidder, Detective Halligan, Cobra and so many more were all completely unique delights and I still enjoy them today.

As best as I can tell it was in response to something involving the defense of Disney because of course it was. Whatever he quoted is gone with it.

Let's not overlook the part where he claims he was up till 9:30 in the AM "writing" when we can tell from Positron's last post alone that he was up all night shitting it up on the twitter dot com. He did not sleep in the slightest last night. About once an hour he directly tweeted out something and at least every hour was either that or a like or a retweet. Perhaps being so sleep deprived let his mask slip and allowed him to out and out say that those he doesn't like deserve to die because he doesn't like them.
